New Year - New Thread!!

Hope you all had a lovely festive season!

I went for a nice walk in the park today as it was lovely & sunny. Sneezed violently half way round and realised my pelvic floor integrity ain't what it used to be. Which got me thinking about New Years resolutions!

  1. DO MORE PELVIC FLOOR EXERCISES!!!
  2. Get Toned and Fit
  3. Get pregnant
  4. Sort out the garden

Obviousy number 3 may have an impact on 1 and 2!!

OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?

Hi,
Sorry to hear about the non-sleeping/ill babies. Can't wait for spring, this has been a horrible winter for viruses.

We had our trip to Clarks at the weekend so dd now proud owner of a very cute pair of cruising shoes (pink with white flower). She's started standing on her own so first steps not far away now I bet.

Loved the calpol photos & good luck to Amelia & Linus!

Another proud owner of bouncing Denby crockery here ! Right, must get on - must do some housework .

sweetbean · 07/02/2006 09:34

Angeliz

Sorry to hear that you ae having such a hard time with the vaccines,it drives me round the bend when people are incompitent and i found that when i was pregnant i had even less time for it !!!!!!!!!!!

I can total sympahise with feeling terrible when pregnant to i hated ever minute of it !!!!!!!!!!!!! but its total worth it in the end ( altho i am dreading having to be preggers again )

W0MBAT · 07/02/2006 09:58

Sweetbean, I'm worried now as I had a really easy pregnancy so maybe it will be my turn to have a bad one next time, and you will sail through it.

Angeliz, what a nightmare for you! Hope you manage to get it sorted out. Thanks also for suggesting that book to me. It sounds like it will be very handy for teaching as well as parenting. I had a nightmare class yesterday - kids hiding under tables and all that!

I just had a look at the calpol competition as was thinking of entering dd but saw the number of pages and thought I'd never find her on there if I did. I will try and vote for Amelia and Linus though.

I am having problems with feeding here too. DD refusing everything apart from cheese and bread.

Hazellnut · 07/02/2006 10:11

Oh dear - almost everyone sounds like they're having a bad time at the mo.... At the moment dd seems fine other than I think teething but not sure how long that will last. I still however can't hear out of one ear and v. croaky throat - ah well.. soon be spring - sigh !! The none eating sounds horrid Tipex.

Nik - dd has those exact shoes they're so cute aren't they !! Well done on your dd standing... not long now !! She managed about 10 steps last night before bed but is refusing again this morning - she's an awkward one .

Hope everyone's feeling better this morning !!

futurity · 07/02/2006 12:05

haven't kept up with all the postings i'm afraid but expect everyone is going through the winter bugs as we are. Sam has cough and I am all bunged up and sneezing my head off which I haven't had for a long time...wish I could go to bed! It's his birthday tomorrow so I may cheat and buy a cake as can't face making one..bad Mummy!

pjsmum · 07/02/2006 18:27

We have slept 3 nights running 11-12 hours. And she slept at nursery yesterday and today only for 30-40 mins each time but its a start! Sorry for those that are still not sleeping.
Angeliz thats a right pain about the clinic.
Will try and vote on the calpol website too for Amelia and Linus.
have had a right to-do with a parent today, kid was a right little s* but they were having none of it. Hope im never like that ha ha!
Futurity im definately going with a brought cake, feel stressed at thought of baking one!

Blondeinlondon · 07/02/2006 19:18

Hiya!

Pjsmum - glad to hear you are getting some kip
DS is sleeping through mostly - sometimes waking before midnight but resettling easily so I can't complain

He had his haircut today - it was very cute but he did wriggle a lot. He demanded to be held by the hairdresser afterwards too

starlover · 07/02/2006 19:27

hi everyone!

just got back from my mum's where we hosted Linus's birthday party!
had the most fantastic day... it was so lovely!
We got Linus the submarine ball pit in the end and you should have seen his face when he saw it! he was absolutely chuffed with it, as were his guests! lol
Despite only having a small house we managed to fit in 7 babies and all the associated adults, plus a variety of toys!
The cake came out fab and was very yummy... Linus has eaten far too much crap today, but hey.. that's what birthdays are about isn't it?
I am totally knackered now, but it was worth it.

Hope all the poorly babies start feeling better soon... i seem to keep writing this! Linus has luckily avoided all of the bugs that have been going round so far, touch wood!

Hazellnut · 07/02/2006 19:42

Happy Birthday Linus !! and Happy Birthday Sam for tomorrow.

Glad the party went well SL - the ball pit sounds a hit !

Now first haircut is something we will be waiting a while for BiL. Apparently for £40 your LO can get their haircut by tigger in harrods (or is it Harvey Nicks ?) .... hmmm.... glad ds behaved himself !!

starlover · 07/02/2006 19:48

jeez, i think i'd be pretty scared if i saw a massive tigger coming at me with scissors! lol

picnikel · 07/02/2006 20:34

LOL,Starlover, my thoughts exactly .

Good to hear Linus' party went well, happy birthday to him & Sam .

It's my birthday too, tomorrow. I'll be 34 (ugh) and we're going out for a nice curry. DH said today that he hasn't got around to getting me a card or a present !! Wretched man had better get me something nice for valentines or else!!

W0MBAT · 07/02/2006 20:48

at hairdressing Tigger. Almost tempted to go to London now just to see it for myself!

Happy Birthday to the little ones and Nik! Hope your DH is just joking about not getting a card or present!

SL, glad your party went well. Impressed with the amount of people that managed to get into your ball pool.

PJsMum - glad to hear your dd is sleeping well. Mine's not sleeping too well again. It was good while it lasted.

Angeliz · 07/02/2006 20:55

Happy Birthday Linus
Wow dd would love a ball pool! You've set me off now! Hope he had a lovely day and we get to see a pic??+

pjsmum, wow, amazing sleeps. (TOUCH WOOD). Amelia slept the best for ags last night. In with me around 12 and then solid till 5.30. Believ me, that's good for her at the moment!
I've just ordered a very low sleigh type leather brown bed and new matress. My old one creaks and is very high and as it's likely to be 2 or 3 or 4 or 5 in a bed soon, thought i'd better plan ahead
I wanted a FIFI and the Flowertots cake for amelia but can't find one or even a topping. SO i'm gonna get a picture of her and Fifi and take it to Asda to be put on a cake

Happy Birthday Sam tomorrow and hope you and Mummy feel better soon!+
HI to everyone else+

Blondeinlondon · 07/02/2006 21:00

Happy Birthday Linus! Hope he's asleep now

roosmum · 07/02/2006 21:02

yes happy birthday linus - from roo & roosmum!

& happy birthday sam, for tomorrow!

can you believe what was happening a year ago today you two?? took me right back on roo's birthday, 1.45am (pop out time for roo) was a really odd feeling!

all 3 of us still have lurgi here, roo's off his food, sleep is poor, humph. am SOOOO tired.
cute news for us tho - we got those 1st little shoes (dougal mean anythign to you SL?!) BUT roo doesn't seem to like them much yet, walks fine without them on, but just stands & stares at his feet when wearing shoes, then starts crying. normal?! (no, didn't think so!)

well done polly! hope she stays like that pjm!

is babytipex eating yet?? hope you're ok tipex, i know i don't handle stuff like non-eating babe v. well.

roosmum · 07/02/2006 21:03

new bed sounds gorgeous AL, btw!
sounds exactly like one i have in mind - currently have rattan sleigh, but would love leather. lucky you!! guess with 5 of you in it, it'll do some mileage, huh

Hazellnut · 07/02/2006 21:06

Have been trying to google about Tigger but cna't find anything so reckon someone was having me on .

Roosmum - dd was like that when she first had her shoes, she wouldn't bear weight on her legs at first with them on !! when was Roos birthday ? Did I miss it - Belated Happy Birthday Roo !!

and happy birthday Nik - make him suffer if you don't even have a card !!

pjsmum · 07/02/2006 21:08

Happy birthday to Linus and to Sam for tomorrow. And nik too. I cant believe its year already. Also quite pleased that i can celebrate my birthday this year next week instead at being laid up with SPD feeling throughly peed off!

roosmum · 07/02/2006 21:10

ooh, yes happy birthday nik! is it your 1st mummy birthday??

HN, roo was an 02.02 baby don't think i posted about it...anyway, a fab day, house full of babies, lots of home-made pizza & a mr. jeremy fisher cake

will try again tomorrow with shoes, i reckon it jsut feels a bit strange for him at first...

picnikel · 07/02/2006 21:51

1st mummy birthday - I like that! And I'll be able to drink this year - except AF is late.........probably false alarm knowing my luck.

starlover · 07/02/2006 21:56

roo you are so right about taking you back to a year ago... i was sat there at 6.48pm going "this is when he was born.... can you believe it?" to everyone over and over! lol
VERY weird, and not something i expected at all until last night when i started thinking that i was having contractions that time last year!

the shoe thing is TOTALLY normal! in fact, they're the hardest shoes to fit because lots of kids just won't stand up in them at all, just want to sit down and look at them. Doesn't take long for them to get used to it though.

i am the only one who didn't bother with cruisers aren't i? lol despite staff discount!

Angeliz... am very atm i have a cheapo argos bed with cheapo horrible mattress and i have ALWAYS wanted a sleigh bed!!!! have been promised one in new house though

Hope all the babies and mummmies with upcoming birthdays enjoy them!

Angeliz · 07/02/2006 22:00

Well the sleigh bed doesn't actually fit.
I left the shop sadly (as the whole bedroom is fitted with previous occupant very dark wood-quite oppressive!) then i walked back in and said, "oh i'll take it and rip the cupboeard out"
Felt liberated! It'll just be the one bedside cabinet to get it in but it;s a start!!

Am looking forward to the girl's parties but they're not ill the end of the month. Amelia was going as Minnie mouse but dd1 now wnats her to be a fairy or Fifi!! It was so funny today, dd1 had some white buttons as i'd opened a pack to give a few to Amelia. While her back was turned Amelia nabbed them and scoffed the lot

starlover · 07/02/2006 22:09

lol that's the kind of thing i'd do angeliz! doesn't fit? ahhh i'll just knock a wall down!

and bless Amelia!!!!!

roosmum · 07/02/2006 22:11

at amelia stuffing sis's buttons - roo doesn't like buttons would really rather fruit! i'm encouraging this, naturally!!

nik, you're ttc aren't you? soooo, ooh, excited for you now!

AL, have fun demolishing dark wood! bedroom HAS to be nice IMO, it's my sanctuary (tho mine is actually a pit atm, stuff everywhere...desperately needs sorting!!)

starlover · 07/02/2006 22:15

roo ditto with the fruit! Linus has a thing about oranges atm
