New Year - New Thread!!

Hope you all had a lovely festive season!

I went for a nice walk in the park today as it was lovely & sunny. Sneezed violently half way round and realised my pelvic floor integrity ain't what it used to be. Which got me thinking about New Years resolutions!

  1. DO MORE PELVIC FLOOR EXERCISES!!!
  2. Get Toned and Fit
  3. Get pregnant
  4. Sort out the garden

Obviousy number 3 may have an impact on 1 and 2!!

oh sl, i wish i was you, our party seems to have gone mad, we have a lot of good friends who've all had babies in the last couple of years, and then family
we were going to do it at home, but i've just added up the definates and it's 32!!!!!! and there are about 10 other people i really think we should invite, aaaaargh, might have to find an upstairs room in a pub
help
leon got burnt on sunday, we were staying at a cottage in the country and he grabbed hold of the towel rail! spent sunday afternoon in the A&E but he's fine, it's on his hand so fun and games with bandages and crawling

how is everyone and how is the party planning?

starlover · 31/01/2006 21:44

ahhh mine could so easily have got out of hand! but then i remembered i have no friends! lol

it's going to be me, my mum, Linus's honorary Auntie, a friend i met at nct group and her little boy, lockets and her dd's and my cousin and her little girl!
invited another mum and her daughter but not heard back from them yet...

Poor leon and his hand Linus burned his on the oven door a while ago... i never realised it got hot on the outside!

Angeliz · 31/01/2006 21:47

Hi everyone.
I was wondering about shoes too. Amelia is jsut satring to cruies but think i'll just keep her in socks till she shows signs of walking. (Not long i think)I'm going mad at the minute as DP took some lovely pictures of me and dd's tonight and the computer says the file is corrupt
Waiting for DP to come home to see if he can get them. Sad otherwise as there's a lovely one of all 3 of us!
Amelia is eating for England!! Lats night she had,
a big bowl of chicken dinner (chicken-sprouts-potatoes-carrots-turnip) and then a yrokshire pudding to chew on then half a jar of fruit and then a bowl of custard!!She is an eating machine!
I told her to follow me into the kitchen today and she lingered in the Hall, i peeked and she was on the bottom stair looking up wistfully, stairgate tomorrow for definate!!!!

Angeliz · 31/01/2006 21:51

Oh gossifer poor Leon!!
When my dd1 was about the same age, she was at my mams oneday and in a walker, she literally stuck her hand on my mams radiator and my mam had to prize it off the radiator was that hot!
She had blisters too, my mam was terrified i wasn't going to leave her again, ( I was a tad more obsessive back then ).

For dd1's first party it was just close family and a little baby cousin. For Amelias we're having a dress up party. (dd1 wanted one but she's having it in a play area type place 3 days later) so this way they get both. Amelia is being Minnie Mouse and Alice is being a fairy princess butterfly if i remember correctly!

picnikel · 31/01/2006 22:38

Poor Leon . They are so quick at getting into trouble, dd stuck her hand in my hot tea yesterday - what a fright!!

We're on holiday over dd's birthday and having a party later for my NCT group.

Angeliz - how are you? Hope the heartburn isn't too bad.

Blooming cold, isn't it?

starlover · 31/01/2006 22:40

least it doesn't feel quite so bad knowing that other people have had similar experiences!

where you off to nik?

picnikel · 31/01/2006 22:43

Ski-ing!! Looking forward to the hol but not the flights, hate flying. Poor dd - no birthday party but I reckoned she wouldn't notice . How's Linus??

starlover · 31/01/2006 22:44

oooh and are you starting dd off early? hehe

linus is ok... been laughing hysterically at random things all day! lol

roosmum · 31/01/2006 22:57

hello all!

hi to jordie too

at nik's skiing, oooh i can just keep on dreaming i think!

poor burnt babies!! roo has yet to pull that one on me...had some close calls with a hot oven tho. soooo difficult to, eg, get his cheese on toast out from grill when he's climbing-up-my-leg starving & whinging, which means i can't actually GET to his food! LOL at amelia angeliz, roo eating well here too, thankfully. he seems to have lost loads of weight from being ill.

a VERY belated birthday to HN's dd - glad you had a good day! roo's b'day is thur, there'll be about 6 babies plus their mums, should be a squeeze...
roo has his 'i am 1' top all raring to go for the day! still cannot believe he is about to be one...
oooh, nearly forgot, he is walking! well has taken about 10 steps anyway. seems SO pleased with himself
so maybe a trip to clarks for some cruiser type shoes soon.
right, back to book, reading about cultural politics in the 1730's...zzzzz...no actually i'm loving it

Blondeinlondon · 31/01/2006 22:59

Hello all

A bit at the skiing Nik - we looked at going but I couldn't face sorting out the childcare. Maybe next year

Talking of near misses/ mishaps - DS broken a bottle of wine at the weekend and almost ate a dishwasher tablet this morning!!

Oh no crying again gotta go

starlover · 31/01/2006 23:01

hi roosmum! how the dickens are you?
well done to roo with the walking! i must get linus an i am 1 top too!!!!! have you got your banner?

picnikel · 31/01/2006 23:03

Ha, you won't be if dd gets diarrhoea on the plane!! Am getting nervous about it but it should be fun I hope. Have to bite the bullet & fly with her sometime I suppose.

Congrats to Roo on the walking. They're turning into toddlers - anyone had a tantrum yet ?

starlover · 31/01/2006 23:04

we've been having tantrums since about 9 months! lol

roosmum · 31/01/2006 23:05

i'm good SL, cheers! pile of books i have to read is getting scarily big [overwhelmed] hence little MN for me (well, relatively!).

blooming marvellous is the place to go for an i am 1 top
still no banner here, have to get skates on. will see what i can find tomorrow, if not then i'll make one - i'm handy like that tho.
have balloons, plus a seriously fab jeremy fisher b'day cake (not my handiwork unfortunately), praps i'll post a pic of it after the big day.
ooh, excited now!

roosmum · 31/01/2006 23:06

yes, mini-tantrums here. roo lies flat on the ground with it too, tis quite funny really

starlover · 31/01/2006 23:07

excellent! pile of books sounds rather off-putting though! lol

i might make a top... have bought banner though.
am planning a number one cake... much chocolate involved! lol

Hazellnut · 01/02/2006 09:08

Busy here last night !

Poor Leon Goss, hope it all heals up nicely - DD poured a cup of tea all over herself the other day, luckily it was only lukewarm and the only damage is to her white babygro which is now a lovely tie-died tea colour !!

ooh skiing Nik - we are off in Marhc too, which reminds me I need to stop eating so I will be able to fit into my ski trousers (in my defense, they are childrens as I'm such a midget but still they used to fit 2 years ago !!) . So PLEASE no mention of chocolate cake........ joking aside, the cakes sound lovely - was that recipe any good SL ?

Well done on the steps Roo - dd really seems to have given up on the idea although am now making her walk everywhere holding my finger to give her the confidence !!

Started looking into preschools for Sept 2007 yesterday . Thought I was getting in early only for them to ask me if the child had been born yet .

Good luck with the pile of books ROosmum - must say, I DO NOT agree with Mill on the FLoss on the other thread at all - I think it ranks as my least favourite book I have got to the end of but I probably missed something .

Right was supposed to be going to try a play group today but dd still asleep as she was uphalf the night with yet another cold so not sure if we'll make it. She always seems to get ill when we're going totry new play groups so perhaps she just doesn't want to go !!

This post is excessively long - sorry !!

gossifer · 01/02/2006 11:02

thanks for all your thoughts, computer crashed again last night

wow to the walkers!

off to baby clinic to get bandage put on again and get leon weighed, not done for v long time!

Actually Tipex - I meant the other noel streatfield Ballet Shoes - there were 2, one just Ballet Shoes and one Ballet Shoes for Anna (how could I forget the latter ?!). fantastic books. Anyway I think VVV asked for books for her and books for her dd. At least I hope so.....

Made it to the playgroup this morning after all. Got dd up, breakfasted and out in 30 mins.... Was quite good too but glad I went with a friend as was a little bit cliquey.

sweetbean · 01/02/2006 16:36

Hi Everyone

Tipex you sound down hun i hope that your ok and that ds strats to be a bit calmer and sleep better soon,it sound like teething to me maybe you will see a new tooth in a couple of days,my dd's a complet clingon when she is teething !!!!! oh and if it makes you feel any better DH and i have only been out twice since dd was born and only for 3 hours each time.(im a paranoid mother and only trust my parents or dh's to look after her and we live 3hours away from both of then so we don't see them all that often.

Congrats to all new walking babies mine has decided that she can get up on her own so she spends her time going bettween my dh and me and clapping her self each time she reaches one of us. she is sooooooooooooooooooooo cute

Blondeinlondon · 01/02/2006 17:29

Hi all
Feeling v tired today but dragged myself to the gym
DS is on a seek and destroy mission and I can't even have a cup of tea at the moment without putting him in his playpen
It is so exhausting - when will this stage end??

Tipex - still bf here but feeling self conscious about it now esp as that C4 show is on tonight
DS nipped me twice today and then had the audacity to cry when the boob was gone!

hello all. Congrats to all the walkers, dd is still not walking , she will if you have hold of her but will only stand for a couple of seconds at a time.
Hope the poorly ones are ok soon. Didnt even make it to work today, had just battled through traffic on the motorway and nursery rang to say dd had a temp of 105! Huge u turn, phone in hand so glad there were no police about!! By 10am she was as right as rain! Normal temp, crawling about chasing the cats etc. Doc reckons she still has the tail ends of a viral infection and because she isnt sleeping enough she cant fight it off. Roll on spring when all the nasty bugs go.
Havent made any plans for her birthday yet got a couple of weeks to get it sorted.
Can i ask, is it right that they can have full fat cows milk from a year old instead of formula? If so do you still give it in a bottle or do they have it in a cup?

Hazellnut · 01/02/2006 19:26

synopsis here Tipex Ballet Shoes

I didn't have BS for Anna - just BS (although read the other) but I adored Ballet Shoes and it was read and re-read and re-read etc... lovely !!

Am going to get dd the Paddington series - I am a huge fan (just after I'd had dd, dh found the original tv series on video and bought it for me !!) - the books are so funny. Also ROald Dahl when she is a little older. On a modern note I love Wibbly Pig books. Have not heard of Tubby and the poobah - sounds a bit bizarre - will look it up on Amazon... DD got the Winnie the Pooh hardbacks for her birthday and a huge Narnia collection for her christening and my parents are buying her the centenary editions of the Beatrix Potter books... Oh and dh buys her Blackberry farm books which I'd never heard of but his family go on about them all the time !

Right, am not supposed to be yacking on about books am supposed to be doing important things like making MArslady's lemon drizzle cake for my nct gang tomorrow.......
