New Year - New Thread!!

Hope you all had a lovely festive season!

I went for a nice walk in the park today as it was lovely & sunny. Sneezed violently half way round and realised my pelvic floor integrity ain't what it used to be. Which got me thinking about New Years resolutions!

  1. DO MORE PELVIC FLOOR EXERCISES!!!
  2. Get Toned and Fit
  3. Get pregnant
  4. Sort out the garden

Obviousy number 3 may have an impact on 1 and 2!!

Before I go and sort ou tthe cake..

PJsmum - sorry to here ddis unwell -t here's so much about.... It is fine to give cows milk from 1. I have started and dd hasn't noticed at all. She only has 2 drinks of milk a day - first thing she has changed to a cup no problem adn night time she did at first but now she's got a cold she wants a bottle at night so will wean her off this one gradually. HTH.

Angeliz · 01/02/2006 19:33

Oh these babies seem to all be going through a clingy tiring stage eh?
Add Amelia to the list! Don't know if it's her teeth but she had whinged all afternoon and it really gets to me as she's usually so chilled. She wanted to be carried constantly, slept awful last night and jst cried at most things, EVEN a chocolate biscuit!!!

She's asleep now but not for too long me thinks!!

Am thoroughly knackered.
Tipex, i just lol at modern miracle, i was just lying on the floor this afternoon shouting ,"Amelia, come and give Mammy a kiss" for ages trying to coax a 10 minute respite!!
I do think you should try to have a night out Tipex, it would do you the world of good, do you not have family you'd trust? (even if they got him up and spoiled him just so you could have some time with DP).++

Angeliz · 01/02/2006 19:34

BTW, Amelia has a jab on Saturday . If she's just teething she'll be o.k won't she to have it?
Just it's awfully late

W0MBAT · 01/02/2006 19:46

I am very impressed with the book list you have planned for your dd, Hazellnut. I love Paddington and Roald Dahl. I have been getting dd books from Usborne such as 'That's not my fairy', that's not my fairy which she just adores. We have also got the little touch leap pad but don't use it much.

Tipex, poor you with the lack of sleep. I have been there so know how tired you must be. I just hope it gets better soon. I think it's definitely worth you and your dh planning a night out or at least you getting out with some friends.

Wow, so many walkers. DD is so so close and I think it's going to be any day now.

W0MBAT · 01/02/2006 19:47

Angeliz, hope your dd feels better soon and is ok in time for her jab. If it's just teething then it should be ok but I would check with HV or doctor first.

Hazellnut · 01/02/2006 20:00

ooh I love those books too Wombat - we have fairy/dolly and teddy ! They're fab.

Sorry to hear about dd Angeliz, hope she's feeling better soon.

ooooh youi lot have been busy!
i keep going to write a post and then there is more!

starlover · 01/02/2006 20:16

sorry to hear about the sleep probs again tipex i bet he is just feeling under the weather.... a possible unpopular suggestion here, but have you tried medised?
it was great when Linus had chicken pox.. we had a few nights like you when he was just up and NOTHING made him stop crying... gave him medised and took him for a little walk (at 1am!) and he went straight to sleep when we got back

W0MBAT · 01/02/2006 20:50

Going to stock up on the medised now, thanks SL. I've heard it's also good for plane journeys.

Tipex - we have the tractor and car ones too. She loves them! You could really shock your DH by putting your ds in a dress and reading him 'that's not my fairy'. Blame it on the lack of sleep and then get him to deal with all the night-time wakings!

jordie · 02/02/2006 14:45

Oh you are a busy bunch of chatterboxes Thanx for the welcome girls, only just found the site recently. On the sleeping (or lack of) issue, DD had been sleeping well at night up untill the start of this week and has been waking screaming several times just wanting to be picked up but we're not going to go backwards with her so have to persevere. Anyway, she started walking on her own during the week and is so proud of herself but someone has since told me that when they start walking they stop sleeping because they just keep dreaming about all the things they could be doing rather than be in bed, not sure how much truth in this theory though.

I've calmed down about the party thing, realised that if so many people want to spend time with DD then I should be honoured to have them over and sure I can always get myself a bottle of bubbly to numb the pain of the mess etc. afterall it is my celebration too!!

Should do some work before I get fired (some hope of that eh!!)

starlover · 02/02/2006 19:02

we had the opposite when linus started walking! he exhausted himself and started sleeping for about 14 hours a night! lol

Angeliz · 02/02/2006 20:34

Oh starlover roll on the walking then

Am gonna post a pic of Amelia with bunches in+

gossifer · 02/02/2006 20:50

ooooooh is it on now?

gossifer · 02/02/2006 21:02

just wanted to send a big cuddle out to all the problem sleepers, it will get better, i reckon when they walk they do get tired as sl says (not that i know of course!)

favourite books from childhood for leon: anything by eric carle(hungry caterpillar), where the wild things are, bread and jam for francis, the cat in the hat, what a mess, bears in the night, ummmmmmmmm

just wondered if any of the babes (are they still babes?) chuckle, leon is properly chuckling at things, it's soooo cute

also he's playing catch! obviously not catchin, but throwing a ball back to you of you throw it to him, such fun!

xx

gossifer · 02/02/2006 21:02

whe i say not that i know i mean about the walking!

jolly4 · 02/02/2006 22:52

goss - my DS chuckles - mostly at other kids babbling and also at himself as he crawls off trying to evade capture

sweetbean · 03/02/2006 17:56

hi
i am have got the brambley hedge serice for my dd already and beartrix potter and of corse the hungry caterpillar.

just to reasure all thoughs sleep deprived mums,i noticed a real change in dds sleeping now that she is walking alot!!! she used to wake up 2 times in the night and now shes sleeps right through (most nights) so there is hope also i found that getting her to climb the stairs lots ( which she loves!!!) helped to tirer her out as well

Can i just ask has anyone decided not to give the MMR? i do respect everyones desision be it for or against but i have decided that its not for me so am in the mid's s of reshearching places that do the separate vaccine, but as far as i can work out they are £100 a shot !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
but i will still go ahead with it !

picnikel · 03/02/2006 18:33

Lots of chuckles here. She giggles like mad when we're playing - I give her something and she throws it off the sofa, I pick it up, she throws it off...."giggle giggle" .

Sweetbean, we had a big MMR chat recently but I think it may have been on our previous thread - mixed views, some of us going for it & others for the single.

I used to love Miffy when I was little so will definitley be buying some Miffy books. Have the hungry caterpillar!

Dd started standing unsupported so not long till she walks now I'd guess, must do something about shoes.....

starlover · 03/02/2006 18:51

oh yes, Linus chuckles like mad! at the strangest things too! the other day he totally cracked up because my mum said "uh oh"... odd child! lol

we're waiting til 18 months and getting singles vaccines for linus...

W0MBAT · 03/02/2006 19:17

Oh yeah, we've got a giggly baby here too. The thing that really makes her laugh is watching the cat go through the cat flap. Works every time!

I'm going to do the MMR. Interested to know why people have decided not to go for it.

Also, what's the best toddler book to get? I didn't really read The First Years much so anything other than The Toddler Years?

Angeliz · 03/02/2006 20:09

Wombat, i think it may be a bit for older kids but a really good book is called,
"How to talk so children will listen and listen so children will talk",
I read it when i was working with kids in care and it's really good

Amelia giggles too, usually at rasberries on her or her sister!+
