New Year - New Thread!!

Hope you all had a lovely festive season!

I went for a nice walk in the park today as it was lovely & sunny. Sneezed violently half way round and realised my pelvic floor integrity ain't what it used to be. Which got me thinking about New Years resolutions!

  1. DO MORE PELVIC FLOOR EXERCISES!!!
  2. Get Toned and Fit
  3. Get pregnant
  4. Sort out the garden

Obviousy number 3 may have an impact on 1 and 2!!

I see I've been missing all the fun
What on earth am I doing up and on mumsnet at this hour - must get to bed

Yes I am on for a meet up

Have a good weekend all

Hazellnut · 29/01/2006 16:27

Hope everyone's had/having a lovely weekend - and that you got over Friday night ok Tipex . We went out last night to a party ....

Been out today and bought dd's first pair of clarks !! Was very exciting - I thought she had teeny tiny feet but turned out to be a 3F. Yesterday we went into a local shop that stocks Clarks but isn't Clarks and they did a really cr#p measurement on her and said she was a 2 !! Luckily my mum was with me and said she hadn't measured them properly - I hope you are disgusted SL !! I wanted to go to a real Clarks to get her 'first shoes' photo !! Not that I'ma sucker for a marketing tool or anything...

Have also managed to trick dd into drinking milk - I made her a banana smoothie this afternoon and she loved it !!

starlover · 29/01/2006 21:01

damn these clarks franchises! lol

so what shoes did she get hazellnut?

I did 3 babies with first shoes today.. it's my favourite because they're so tiny and cute! lol

Hazellnut · 29/01/2006 22:19

She got the tabatha-something or other - pink (of course, aren't they all?!) with a white flower on. They're lined up next to DH's shoes by the door . So, in your professional opinion, is a 3 small medium or large (unlikely) for a 1 yr old girl - have got all paranoid she's got my Dad's feet which are tiny as are all his family (i.e. my dad takes a 5 !).....

starlover · 29/01/2006 22:22

oh yes, i know the ones! they vary SO much in size, but i'd say that's about average

Hazellnut · 29/01/2006 22:23

well done -that's EXACTLY what I wanted to hear !

starlover · 29/01/2006 22:41

well cruising shoes go from 3-5 and first walking shoes start at a 3.... so it must be average

sweetbean · 30/01/2006 15:29

Can i ask how many steps do they nead to take before you start thinking about buying shoes or do they have to walking all the time ?

starlover · 30/01/2006 15:31

you can get crawling or cruising shoes which have very soft soles before they start walking.
proper hard-soled shoes you should leave as long as poss before using!

sweetbean · 30/01/2006 15:31

oh and i would love to know more about a meet up i live in somerset and would love to know if anyone live close to me

sweetbean · 30/01/2006 15:33

Thanks starlover
my dd's canwalk but thinks that crawling is a lot faster so still tends to favor that as a method for getting around so i will hold of on the shoes for a while xx

Hazellnut · 30/01/2006 18:31

Sweetbean - we had dd in daisy roots (the really really soft leather shoes) since she started cruising - as well to keep her socks on. We got the cruisers because the daisy roots were looking a bit loose where she'd worn them a lot and, having taken a couple of steps a couple of weeks ago seems to have given up a bit (crawling easier here too) - after we excitedly told everyone she'd done steps, a bit embarrassing really so we wondered if they might help her. Not sure they do tbh although at first I think they felt a bit heavy on her feet as she wouldn't put weight on them at first. Now she is standing unaided on them and walking if she holds one of our fingers..... So who knows ?!

Its a bit sad though because her two friends in our jo jingles class (same age, give a day or two) are both walking properly so going up a group after half term whilst we stay down . Makes me feel like she's a child being kept down at school .... Ah well... they'll suffer as the next class is at 9.30 in teh morning, whilst the baby class is at a more leisurely 11.30 !!

jordie · 31/01/2006 16:30

Hi girls. Sorry to barge in but DD will be 1 next week and was wondering what is the norm for a first birthday? We are planning a party in the house but the invite list has gotton a little out of control and now it looks like there'll be a huge crowd of adults and I'm worried it's going to upset DD It's great that so many people love her and want to see this milestone first hand but now I'm getting a bit anxious about it.

Maybe I'm just out of the habit of entertaining!

starlover · 31/01/2006 21:36

hi jordie and welcome to the thread!
we're having a little party during the day... have invited about 3 people and 4 little ones! plus us...
then it's family time in the evening, though we only have a tiny family so again, not too many people!
