New thread just for you star!

Well, hopefully not just for you, or it could get a bit boring talking to yourself Grin.

Shock following on weight discussion on here I did two child bmi calculators online. GP says he's healthy and fine... I don't think he looks overweight, but am I just blind to it? I've asked my cm and preschool teachers as well and they are both honest with me about stuff but didn't even hesitate to say "no, he is not overweight"
But these calculators are for children and they don't lie, do they? He is heavy, but I don't think he sticks out among his peers...

Why am I such a stupid worrier?
He does get some treats. Perhaps I'll cut them out. He also has (that non aspartame) squash sometimes at cm... Is that high calorie/sugary?
Damn it

pepperrabbit · 07/02/2012 21:36

HP I've just done a centile chart thing for DD (online as not sure where her red book is at this precise moment..) at 27lb she's on the 6th centile. Which seems ok to me. looks to be a wide range - not sure I'd trust any of them tbh but I've always been wary of BMI calculations.
I did this one.

Purpleprickles · 07/02/2012 22:33

HP I would say from your pics that Q does not look overweight at all. He seems tall to me and perfectly in proportion. Please don't worry as the Dr and those around you who know him think he is fine. Also unless you are secretly taking him to Maccy D's every night and pretending on here that you are feeding him wholesome goodness then I don't think his diet needs altering. Please don't cut out treats altogether. When I was growing up my friends mum refused her sweets so she would secretly buy them and hoard them. Her clothes cupboard was like a sweet shop. I know Q's a bit young to be sweet hoarding but I think we have to be careful about banning things because then they can become more appealing.

I'm never 100% convinced by bmi charts. According to bmi I am overweight but hey I'm never going to be the 8st 10 I'm supposed to be again unless I loose a leg. And if I was 8st 10 and not lame I'd look too thin in my opinion Grin

Sorry if that sounds a bit lecturey Blush its all meant with good intent. Basically Q looks perfect so don't worry Smile

Purpleprickles · 07/02/2012 22:36

Oh and I still have no idea what J weighs he could be off the scale. Today he had a small bag of penny sweets then sausage and chips for tea. So really if anyone should be worrying it's me Grin

Oh no, pistachio Sad I hope you and P manage to dodge it.

I feel so ill that I actually sobbed cried a bit about it this morning. Now left ear hurts and feeling so strange. I talked to dr on the phone and Dr says just a virus going around and no need to stay home unless I'm 'really that tired'
I have to do a presentation today as well for staff so will battle through and see dr this evening.

Oh pistachio! That sounds awful. So sorry it got you as well Sad
At least you should be on the mend now
HP - did you make it through the day at school, you really don't sound well - and your doctor sounds really unsympathetic!
I had th eday off today, went shopping to the big M&S with my mum, we had a lovely time Smile
I bought .... jeggings. Not quite sure about them, but I thought they actually looked ok - and actually just like skinny jeans not like leggings at all
Anyway, if that's my midlife crisis at least it was cheap Grin!
I also bought some knickers that promise to revolutionise my bottom. I'm not quite sure my bottom's ready for that....

I am feeling better energy-wise, but still sore throat and swollen glands and sore ear :(

HavePatience · 09/02/2012 20:16

Ha! Grin ! But grim fits, too Wink

pepperrabbit · 09/02/2012 21:25

LOL!
I'm sure DH will give me the honest truth - however much it hurts Grin

HavePatience · 09/02/2012 21:47

I am sure you will look great in them.
I just can't get past the concept... Or the name!

pepperrabbit · 10/02/2012 09:35

I'm wearing them. They look OK - DH seemed quite keen....
Am wearing a very very long jumper, so with my boots you can in fact just see roughly 8" of trouser around my knees Grin
Does anyone have snow? We have maybe 4cm, v pretty in the sun.

Myjob it does sound like flu doesn't it. You poor thing Sad I hope you're a bit better now? Xxx (((hugs)))

I still have a sore throat but better otherwise, so all ok here. Q had jabs today and didn't even notice the booster. Shock
But flinched after mmr and gave us a bit of a sad teary face after. He wouldn't even look at the nurse after that and told her she wasn't very nice and that he likes the medicine that goes in your mouth better! Grin

Hooray for half term. Dh and I have it at the same time this yearSmile. Nice and relaxing being at home with our little man. I love it!

pepperrabbit · 14/02/2012 16:51

Are you any better today myjob?
Sounds like you need a trip to the doctors Sad

HavePatience · 14/02/2012 19:59

Amazing day seeing the gruffalo today. 1 actress and 2 actors did the whole thing. Really well done and music...etc was great. So lovely! Q cried when gruffalo entered the audience as was very climactic and Q has an active imagination and was convinced that the gruffalo would eat him on a slice of bread Grin. He gripped us so tightly!

I can't believe the week is nearly over :(
Oh and we are buggy free at last! It has just taken Q ages to be confident enough on his scooter but is now a pro and it's tough to keep up! :)

I've seen too many kids Q's age with coke or other fizzy drinks in their hands this week... I'm really shocked, I can't imagine even considering allowing him to have anything fizzy for many years yet. I saw most of this when walking around london at museums. I limit his juice box intake quite strictly and can't even fathom fizzies.... But then I wondered, is this just an American mindset? Is this quite typical in the UK? I can clearly remember not being allowed fizzy drinks still when I was 10!
