Hello. Think i was first to deliver off the September EDD thread so waving to see if anyone else out there yet to join me :)
Had my 2nd DD on 26aug by C-sec. We now home but struggling with BF and baby lost 10% body weight in 3days. Started to top up with formula in syringe to try give cracked. Bleeding nipples a rest, but milk is starting to drip out now leaking everywhere! Hoping for a better night tonight after 3nights of hourly feeds and snatching 2-3hrs of sleep.
Anyone else struggling too?

DD is having a feeding-pooing frenzy. She feeds then poos then wants to feed again sooner. I've had little sleep tonight from feeding changing and expressing. I'm hoping this is only for tonight and she'll settle again as I have now finished the whole season of Waterloo road on sky+. I deleted boardwalk empire as I thought I wouldn't have time to watch it Angry. I'm now sat here watching rugby despite not knowing any of the rules! I find it so hard to fall back to sleep after waking up for 30mins.
I cannot wait until DD sleeps through the night. I love my sleeeeeeeeep. Hope you're ok today bumpy.

Hi summerpixie I've had couple of fed n poo frenzy it feels relentless when the do that!
Think its growth spurt around 10ds and boosts milk supply. I admire your ability to watch tv I just don't have the mental concentration to watch tv but its hard when your body running on adrenaline to go back to sleep. I've used a few techniques from hypnotherpy cd to help me but it doesn't always work hence why I'm mumsneting on my phone at 4am!

I seem to have got my first cold in years and all three of us feel awful, although I have taken the brunt. I keep waking from nightmares about the baby and finding it hard to believe he is Ok when I wake up.

I am hoping he has not lost more weight tomorrow though as he needs to be reweighed for day 10.

Ooh hello 3more mummies&babies welcome to the other side. Hope the full moon is inducing sleep not energized awake babes? My babe seemed to find 12.20-2.30am her most awake time of the day :( but my DH earnt back some brownie points tonight by taking her after the 8.30pm feed and I got THREE whole hrs of sleep before he woke me up saying over to you now I'm off to bed. Gosh the most amount of sleep I've had in one stretch in last 4nigths. Needed it! We have to all depart the house fed, dressed &watered by 8.15am tom as DD1 starts primary school. Just hope my exhausted mummy hormones don't bubble over and I can hold back the tears she looked so small when we tried on the uniform last week.I've had to enlist help of grandMa and car to complicate matters as i can't drive post c-sec of walk the hill to school yet!
Then when we get home again as she finishes at 11.30am this wk the bloody HV has invited herself at noon. Not my fav persons but their first visit and babe 17d old so i know we not triggered any risk factors this time (with DD1 being unmarried &our postcode did! But they neatly fell off her chair when I said actually I own the flat asmy DP just sold his :) and after 2home visits they should sign us off to just weekly clinic at health centre.

Hope babe starts to gain weight lola mine lost 10.5% in 3days but has steady being going up since despite rocky start with BF. I get her weighed again tom but I think she be fine now.

Oh, poor you ssmile. I remember exactly what that was like with DS, although I didn't have the added pressure of another DC then so I am really feeling for you.

How's the BFing? This won't make you feel any better but I am getting loads of sleep (sorry!), purely because I've kicked DH out into the spare room and I'm co-sleeping with DD. I wasn't confident enough to do it when DS was teeny but it is making the world of difference this time around as it means that she's settling really quickly. I'm still doing a feeding, puking, pooing frenzy between 11.30 and 2.30 but, apart from that, she's sleeping scarily well (I am sure that it won't last!)

KNow what you mean about the post-feed expression Grin

I really hope you've managed to catch up with yourself today.

Suriving today so far. Eventually got sleep 6-7.30am woke up as DH leaving late for work but he been darling got DD1 dressed, fed &milk before her first day at school. I jumped in shower, wolfed down tea&cornflakes, fed babe and left hse 8.15am as planned, we ended up being first people in classrooml! ,my DD told me I could leave now and when I collected her at 11.30am wanted to know why I couldn't let her stay longer &could she go again tom :o got two vlong wks of silly short days 8.45-11.30am! But DH taken his 2nd wk of paternity leave from thurs this wk to -wed next wk so thankfully he can help do school run &take DD1 out in the afternoon.

Also had Health visitor today babe has now regained birth weight yah! at 17d and only have to see HV at 6wks and 9mths, can just drop into clinic as needed, which I happy with as found them bit of pain before.

How is everyone else doing?

Sorry to hear you're still lacking sleep ssmile. DD is on a growth spurt as she has been feeding loads in the morning then sleeping a bit longer in the evenings. Last night was a bit trying but I think we will have it sussed soon. DD had a feed at 11pm then woke at 1am had a feed then woke at 4am. I had been expressing until 2am so really did not want to wake up. However DH got up and made a bottle of formula up and she drank this in bed with us and fell asleep straight after. So I think we'll be bringing a bottle to bed with us, lol.
MW came for discharge visit. I'd seen her before at AN visit and liked her straight forward non pushy attitude. She wasn't bothered I wasn't exclusively BF and wad happy DD is now above birth weight.
My DS starts reception tomorrow but is on FT from day one. I'll miss him and I'm worried he'll be extremely tired and naughty Sad. He's still young for his year too being a July baby.
Hope you nights get better ssmile and welcome new mummies and babies. X

Hi everyone.

Quickie from my phone.

We came home yesterday. Was lovely to be home. My sis who has 2 girls watched and instructed me (in a nice way) as I gave a little bath to get rid of birth gunk that was left in hair and nooks and crannies. Had an ok night as she likes feeding lots in the night. Found 1-2 and 3-4 hard as I felt like I might nod off mid feed but she slept from 4-7 so had at least 2hrs myself. Been resting up today when she's slept. OH is wonderful, very nervous but doing so much better than he's giving himself credit for. Episiotomy cut quite sore but not swollen today so had some 'airtime' to help it heal which feels like it's worked wonders.

Mw came out this morning. Edith has only lost 55g so they were happy with that. I'm very comfy feeding, though my boobs are so huge it's rugby ball hold not traditional hold but we seem to both be getting on fine with it. :)

Am loving being a mum so far, and keep just looking and marvelling at how cute my baby girl is :)

Anyway. I'll start catching up soon with how the rest of us are doing soon, for now it's phone posts.

He maintained today but they want me to express as well as breastfeed. Got a manual pump but it dont work right so needs to be returned so I am frustrated.

ssmile · 12/09/2011 23:29

lolajane have you tried hand express? Or our local childrens centre hires out electric pumps for minimal cost, might be worth a try. Gd luck. I hand expressed into a sterile cup, took 5mins massage then it started to dribble out then it was bit like milking a cow :o but my boobs big n dangley into the cup, a warm bath or flannel on boob first also helped milk to flow.

my mum has ordered me an electric one from amazon. I just need him to gain before they weigh him again.

Hi lolajane, I don't think we've met before but just to let you know, I tried loads of different electric pumps with my DS and none of them ever worked as well as the good ol' fashioned Avent hand pump which would really get my milk flowing Although I expect everyone's boobs are different so it's prob worth trying as many different ones as poss.

We had a great night here, DD slept better than any of the rest of us and went from 11.30 - 3am, had a very sleepy half feed, then until 7am when I woke up. Goddam she is awesome, but I am very wary of the fact that the first big growth spurt will kick in in the next couple of weeks so I'm not letting her lull me into a false sense of security.

MW came yesterday and DD's only lost 60g (1.5%) in five days so she told me not to bother waking her up to feed her at night as I have been, just to totally feed on demand which I am very Grin about as it means I don't have to set the alarm clock every four hours!

Wow feralgirl Envy at your feeding that's great.

We had much better sleep last night :-) I could have predicted as babe had had more daytime awake time, and she wanted feeding hourly 4-8pm. We actually did our plan I went to bed 8-10.30pm whilst DH looked after babe and gave her 10mls formula at 9.30pm when she wouldn't settle then she had big feed at 11pm but asleep by 11.30pm, fed again 1.30( settled by 2.30 and slept til 5am utter heavenly sleep stretch for me! Has just fed at 7,8,9am so reckon she might settle a bit now so I can make tonights lasange before collecting DD1 from half day ay school and do laundry.

Hope u had gd nights too?

summetpixie hope you Lo enjoyed reception today and you enjoyed some quiet time with babe. My DD1 loved school got annoyed when she had to come home early (11.30am finish) I told her to complain to her teacher :o

feralgirl yah for gd sleep sounds like your babe had gd night.

lolajane hope the new pump is better for you and helps reduce stress levels on expressing.

100yrs hope your stitches pain eases and not too uncomfortable. Sounds like you really enjoying your babe :)

bumpy how are you doing?

My poor DH had awful couple of hrs with both girls whilst I was fast asleep 8.30-10pm, babe didn't really settle despite gd feed before I went to nap, then DD1 started up despite being in bed since 7pm she didn't go to sleep till 9.30pm, so he was heating up his dinner at 10pm poor sod after vstressful day at work. But he does have 2nd week paternaty leave from thurs to wed next wk so that be gd for his stress levels and to help with DD1. I think I overdid it bit today asmy blood loss increased I need to keep remembering I'm not yet 3wks post c-sec and I must take it easy! Just got to get DD1 to school tom then my DH can do the next wks school run so I can rest more. I'm oft to DRs tom to get scar checked as not healing vwell at one end bit too red. Fingers Xed its ok. Wishing you all gd sleep tonight x

ironically the avent manual was the one i returned. The milk ended up sucked back up the plastic massaging bit and I ended up covered. Ended up easier to hand express with a syringe that time.

Hi. Thanks ssmile. Yesterday the stitches were quite sore and I've developed piles too, which doesnt affect me till I've been to the loo. But when I do go I was sitting on the loo with tears because they were so do painful. Anyway OH went to the chemist, I have germoloid cream now which has anaesthetic in it so fingers crossed the pain will go a bit easier and sooner than yesterday. Family are bringing me a rubber ring to try, as I'm currently sitting on my v pillow.

Had a good night last night, with me having about a 1hr then two nearly 2hour sleeps between food Smile so I'm wide eyed this morning.

Has anyone else had diarrhoea? I think mine has come from the diclofenac post birth but it's not stopped yet, it's not all the time like a bug but I'm going a couple of times a day and it's v loose and this is irritating my bum piles!

My DD is absolutely amazing. I love her so much. I'm still amazed by the whole thing.

Right it's mummy food time then more feeding so I'll catch up in a bit. Loads of family visiting today Smile

Ssmile I am v Envy of being comfortable in size 16 pants! It's going to be a while before I can get my pre-pg clothes out Sad Hope you're taking it easy and your scar's OK. Well done your DH for being such a trojan!

100years, Edith is gorgeous; clever you! I have been rubbish with photos so will have to get the camera out and start getting some pics for the baby book.

We went to our local boob group today which was lovely; full of people cooing over DD as she is the youngest by far. I can't believe that this time last week we were only just going up onto the post-natal ward. This week's gone so fast!

hello all!!!!
I havent read the posts on this thread yet but thought i should strat here as some names i dont recognise..
here's my birthing story...i had a big show wed eve and started having what i thought were strong irregular bh-but they must have been the real deal and early labour.
saturday morning i had strong pains around my old cs scar, then got some bleeding down below. so we headed to hospital 2 check cs scar wasnt splitting. turns out it wasnt and i was 4cm. as we live so far away from the hospital the lovely dr broke my waters 4 me there and then just after 4pm, went straight 2 6cm. there was meconium in fluid so i had a monitor attached to his head for reat of labour-all was well :-) the fluid went EVERYWHERE- when having epidural put in so much fluid came out it leaked all over the floor, dh thought id wet myself and was lovely, then he saw it was AF.
had epidural, which only worked on my right side, then fell out of my back. had gas and air, the mw offered me some aromatherapy but tbh i didnt even notice it. then she gave me some diamorphene near the end.
8.12pm baby boy was born (and had no name until end of sunday) weighing 8lb 11oz. he needed help to breath after being delivered to my tummy and dh cutting the cord, luckily started breathing much quicker than ds1, who also had trouble at birth.
he's doing really well now, an angel.
the midwives at birth were amazing (i had a bad expewrience with last birth, but at a different hospital)! cant praise them enough!
i keep getting backache, dead leg from the injection that sped up placenta delivery, and my boobs r HUGE nad tender and hot-will speak to mw 2moro wen she comes around- poor little man struggles fitting boob into his tiny mouth! i currently have cold cabbage leaves stuffed down my bra!
