Hi,
Thought I would start us a postnatal thread. Were still in hospital, here till Tuesday monitoring dd (now named Eva) and giving her the anti biotics. Im missing dd1 loads as I only get to see her at visiting and trying to contain a toddler on the ward is tough.

OP posts:

Leo gets top have 4 birthday celebrations Shock
On the 5th I am throwing a party for my mums 60th, BUT if I told her it was for her 60th then she wouldn't come Hmm so we are making out that it is for Leo, and having it on the weekend so more people can come. She seems happy with that explanation!! So Leo will have cake and pressies then.
On his actual Bday (6th) we will be away, staying with friends, so we are going out for the day and scoffing cake, then in the late afternoon we are travelling to see DH's parents so more cake! and THEN when we return he is having a party with his baby friends too!!!

As for food for his baby party I am doing a platter of various veggy sticks with dairylea dip. Some mini pizza wheels. A mixed fruit salad (cut up chunky for little fingers) and some smalll cupcakes :)
He has got a trike, activity aeroplane, happyland digger and some bits of wooden railway and trains to add to our existing horde of railway stuff. Found it hard to get him bits as DS1 is a spoilt little buggar has so much already.

Leilandri · 30/07/2012 22:46

OMG I meant 8th for his actual Bday

Can't believe I got that wrong

Rehune · 06/08/2012 16:47

Hello all! I've missed you guys. Back to work after a year's maternity and Raya is turning one tomorrow. I can't believe it. Because of her I completely missed the Riots as I was having my loooooong drug free labour (you really DO forget the pain)
Having a sweetshop theme birthday party for her on Saturday and I couldnt help myself but go to town a bit! Will post some pictures.
I'm really glad to be back amongst friends and excited about looking at pictures of all these babas I grew to know and love long before they were born!

Just a quick dive in. I finished Euans cake today, so happy with it. Have put a piccy up, taken 2 days to do.
Can't believe he's 1 on Monday, hope the weather holds out as meant to be going to the zoo!
Parents over Sunday for cake :)

Happy birthday to those bubs who are coming up x x

Leilandri · 11/08/2012 21:19

Lovely to hear of the little babies turning 1 :)

Leo had a lovely party on the 5th shard with his Nanny's 60th. He has enjoyed seeing his Grandad this week, and has another party on the 13th with his baby friends. Spent his actual Bday on the 8th riding steam trains and eating icecream - so not bad at all!! Grin

Teladi · 13/08/2012 09:43

Happy birthday wee ones. We are not having a party for H... figure there is lots of time for parties in the future. We have bought her a wooden car ramp toy... that sounds weird, I'm not really sure how to describe it. I know her auntie has bought her a little car that you ride in and that can be pushed along, and one set of grandparents has got Mega Blocks.

To me it seems like much longer than a year since I was waiting to go into labour... I haven't forgotten the pain like Rehune has though!! I wondered if I might be starting to reconsider my decision not to have another baby by now... but no I am still firm in my resolve! Some of my RL friends have been talking about having their next baby. Are any of you starting to think about another?

KLou111 · 13/08/2012 17:03

I was thinking about it when Euan was 6 month lol! Going to try in the new year.
Back on later, en route back from the zoo. Fab day, Euan has really enjoyed it :)

Leilandri · 13/08/2012 22:00

Not having anymore here. DS1 is 3.2, and Leo is 1. Just coming out of the really hard work stage now. I can go out without a massive change bag. Leo is predictable with his nappy habits, and is on cows milk now, so I can go most places with just 1 nappy, 1 pair of pants for DS1 and a small pack of wipes in my bag - bliss. They are both eating "normal" food, no purees etc, no steralising, no night feeds. Leo is mobile, and is starting to "talk". Wouldn't go back to babyhood now. 2 is quite enough Grin

When we switched Morgan from her preemie formula to cow's milk, we did it one ounce at a time. So to start, we put one ounce cow's milk with 5 ounces formula. Then it was 2 ounces cow's milk with 4 ounces of formula. She took to it right away so we only did each step for a day or two. Now she will drink it cold and hold the bottle on her own! We are occasionally offering it in a sippy cup to make that transition next. G-d bless BLW!

Leilandri · 14/08/2012 11:13

Leo still has 8oz of 1-2yrs follow on formula milk at bedtime, just to top up his vitamins etc, but the rest of the day he has water, diluted juice or cows milk.
I switched him by removing 1 formula feed and replacing it with cows milk - lunchtime to start with, then replaced breakfast and mid-afternoon bottle.
We will drop his bedtime bottle from 18months or so I expect, just like his big brother. That is when we plan to move him to a toddler bed, so the bedtime routine naturally changes abit then anyway :)

KLou111 · 14/08/2012 12:48

Euan has a 5oz cup of cows with breaky and 7oz bedtime bottle, which will change to a cup soon. I did half and half for a day then the following morning I switched totally to cows and never looked back :) He was 10.5 months.

KLou111 · 14/08/2012 13:09

Sorry, had to put Euan to bed. He just screamed at me as my mum and dad bout him a sand and water table and he just loves it so wasn't happy when he was torn away from it!!

Had a fab time for his birthday. Went to some friends for a bbq Sat night and we took him. Wouldn't sleep in his pram so just put him in the garden and happy as. Left at 10.30 and was still wide awake. It's a 5 min walk, and was asleep when got home lol.
Then Sun we had both sets of parents over and opened their pressies and had a little party for him. And obviously had to cut into the cake is made!!
Then yesterday for his actual birthday we went to twycross zoo and loved it. He was so good. We opened pressies in the morning, then left about 11 for the zoo as only about 40 mins. Was the most fantastic weekend. I couldn't stop getting a bit teary though as I can't believe he's 1!! I kept reliving last year when I had him, his birth wasn't traumatic at all, and only 15 hours from start to finish.
We just love him so bloody much!!!
Been out on his trike this morning and been in his ball pit etc. Got some more friends nipping in this aft so he's had a pretty long and lovely 1st birthday!!

neverlookback · 20/08/2012 11:27

aawww klou the cake is fantastic and Euan is gorgeous! Willow is 1 on 30th aug, im making her cake too in minnie mouse theme (ive got the topper of ebay) im thinking of doing a sugarcraft course and starting somekind of little ebay business in that field, i need to think of something i can do myself and from home, i dont want to go back to working for anyone else!
I too cannot believe willow is almost 1, its flown and shes such a chilled out happy baby i would defo have another but ive already got 3 so im pushing it a bit going to 4!! and we have no bedrooms left! and it is starting to get easier and we are getting our lives back a bit which is lovely.

KLou111 · 20/08/2012 21:01

Thanks never :) Euan is bloody gorge, must put some updated piccies up, think he was about 8 months in the last one with the dog (Easter).
Sugarcraft sounds fun. I'd love to be able to make little flowers and fiddley things. I found out how to do the star topper on the net which was easy enough, but I couldn't do anything really complicated!
Good luck with your cake :)

I just looked on the net sarge, all there :)
Don't rush, give yourself plenty of time. I made the decorations on the Tuesday and let them dry, cake on Thursday, decorated cake Fri ready for Sunday.
Do a madeira not vic sandwich, madeira is heavier therefore can hold the decs and not sag. Just cut it in half (around 4" total)

Hi everyone!
Sorry I haven't been on for so long, just caught up and glad to hear how all the birthday celebrations have been going. Love the cake KLou! We had family over for a bbq a few days after Matthew's birthday which was lovely. It is birthday season in our house at the moment as DS2 was 3 the day before Matthew turned 1, so I held his party the weekend before to try to space out all the cake making! I did DS2 a Gruffalo cake and Matthew a teddy bear cake. DS1 will be 5 on the 2nd Sept and wants a Lightning McQueen cake, they are keeping me busy!

Matthew is crawling and cruising and generally trying to do everything his big brothers do. He copies them by, for example, putting a man in a tractor (we have lots of tractors as DH is a farmer......) and tries to join in but usually ends up demolishing whatever the older have built or are playing with! Patience is something the older two are slowly learning, but only another year or so until they all play properly I hope. He is absolutely gorgeous and such a delight in the day time, but he has only slept through the night twice in his entire life which is a new experience for me. Hasn't put me off wanting a fourth though, although not immediately, need a bit more sleep first.

Will try to keep up with this a bit more as it was so lovely to share the pregnancies and births with you all.

Teladi · 23/08/2012 21:38

Is anyone's LO not cruising yet? H is crawling really well but doesn't really pull herself up. If you stand her up she'll stand for a while holding onto something but doesn't do it herself. I'm not worried per se as she's obviously got the strength in her legs to do it, but just curious as to what the others are doing. She didn't crawl until almost 10 months so I wouldn't be surprised if she just doesn't bother for a while. Hmm
