Hi,
Thought I would start us a postnatal thread. Were still in hospital, here till Tuesday monitoring dd (now named Eva) and giving her the anti biotics. Im missing dd1 loads as I only get to see her at visiting and trying to contain a toddler on the ward is tough.

OP posts:

Awww, all these bubbas is lovely.
Euan is always getting comment about his blonde hair and blue eyes, he really is such a gorgeous little fella :)
Still no mama, but dada has been around a few weeks now lol.

sarge we got a fab deal with first choice. We've booked Holiday Village, Sharm, and we go 30th April for 12 nights all inc for £560 each!!! Euan is free obviously!
If we booked it either side of these dates by a few days it was £800+!
Our friends went with their little one in Feb and recommended it as it's for families. We got 20kg each and 10kg + buggy for Euan. Will have to take jars for him so glad of the extra weight. I'm not keen on him having the food in Egypt tbh.
Can't wait, but only downer is Euan will have to sleep in the same room as they had no dividing lounge rooms left, bit for that price we took it. Apparently the walk-in wardrobe is quite big though........Wink

KLou- we have been to the sharm holiday village twice (we have been 2 of the last 3 christmas'). It is lovely - staff are very friendly and everywhere was spotlessly clean - even the beach toilets. We really like the oriental and indian restaurants but didn't like the mediteranean. If you have any questions just ask.

We liked the holiday village so much we are going to the one in Turkey on 28th May for 2 weeks. DD absolutely loves the kids club and we have booked Alex a few sessions in the creche as well. We have booked a baby pack so will get a steriliser, bottle warmer, uv tent for the beach so we can make things a little easier whilst we are there. We have a whopping 70kgs in luggage, although I imagine one suitcase will be full entirely of nappies, formula and fruit pouches/food for alex and snacks for DD.

Oooo thanks hersetta, a couple of things I will ask, how do you prebook the creche? I've had a look on the net but can't find anything. Do you ring first choice or email the hotel? Also, how did you sterilise the bottles? I know you get a steriliser in the pack, but what do you put in it?
I have mam self sterilising bottles which fold up inside each other and wack them in the microwave, so I've never used a steriliser!
I got some Milton tablets just in case, which I have looked on the net, and apparently you can use their tap water to sterilise as the tablets neutralise everything.
I'm thinking holiday villages may be our new holiday destinations too, looks great!

sarge must say am dreading this flight. Euan slept all the way to tenerife and back bar about 30 mins, and was flat out take off and landing, but now he doesn't keep still, I think it'll be a different story!!
I'm going to get him some new small toys, I've seen a baby 'laptop' thing that looks good. But I must say his favourite things at the moment are crisp packets!!!!

We've got a Mamas and papas one that goes onto a standard chair, as we wanted Euan to be able to sit at the table with us. When he gets too wide for the chair with tray, he will sit directly at the table. The tray isn't very big, but no biggie.
It's a foldaway one too, so we can take it out with us when we go out for a meal or when we go to the parents. It's that light, we may take it on holiday too tbh. And it was only about £35!

Hope berties ear clears up quick x

Awww such a cutie sarge!!

Xx

Hersetta · 13/04/2012 08:57

Klou, when I have been abroad before I got a huge plastic box (from £1 shop) put it in the suitcase filled with food jars and pouches and used it as my sterilizer with milton tablets. i think the sterlizer you get as part of the baby pack (which you have to pre order and pay for) is electric - so you just add water which heats up to create steam.

I booked mine online and it was an additional option - we also booked swimming sessions for DD. You can book them at the kids club when you arrive but i beleive they charge £5 per hour - you can book in advance - ring first choice and it is much cheaper. We booked 9 2hr sessions for £65 so we could get him out of the sun at the hottest part of the day.

Sarge - gorgeous pics. I did the same as you for my first. Got a very, very expensive silver cross highchair which cost over £100 and then found it was a bugger to keep clean. this time it hasn't even made it out of the garage and we bought a antilop chair from ikea - brilliant and simple and so easy to clean. Cost £10.49 - if you want to add a tray it's an extra £5. Sorted. Get one - you won't regret it!

KLou111 · 13/04/2012 12:39

Thank you hersetta off to the pound shop then lol :)

KLou111 · 13/04/2012 12:40

I'll have to call them then about the creche as we booked on the phone.

bettyboo83 · 13/04/2012 19:46

Klou, when we went away I bought some sterilising bags from boots. Each drawstring bag has a steriliser tablet, you just fill the bag with tap water, pop your bottles in a leave for 15 mins or until you need them. Really small to pack too.

Sarge, I got this booster seat from amazon which sounds similar to the one klou has. It's easy to clean and Joshua likes sitting in it at the table and playing with things too if I'm doing paperwork, etc. The tray comes off easily and you can adjust the height as they grow.

I have flown to FL with Morgan twice now. The flight is 10 hours going and 8.5 coming back. The first time, at 4 months, was a breeze. She slept most of the time. I had my 16 yo niece with me as my 'nanny' for the flight and to do the night feeds for the two weeks we were there. What a lifesaver! The second time, at 9 months, I did it by myself and it was more challenging. She is so alert now and did not want to sleep at all. At 9 months, the bassinets provided by Virgin were too small, too shallow and too uncomfortable for her. At this age, she doesn't cuddle up and sleep with Mommy anymore either. For long haul, I can not recommend night flights highly enough. At least this way, you are working with their natural sleep cycle. All I can say is bring a couple small, silent favorite toys and a couple brand new ones too. I bought this crazy thing from John Lewis for peace-of-mind but never ended up using it. www.johnlewis.com/231251864/Product.aspx?SearchTerm=bondie+bird

hello, re highchairs, ive had a few in my time! and the best i find once they can sit up steadily are the cheapest ones from ikea that are v basic and v easy to clean (dont know name) they are about £20 and then £10 for the tray! or the £10 plastic ones that fit onto your dining chair also v easy to clean, my ds 3.5 has just stopped using his. When he was younger i bought a tripp trapp and it was rubbish, he would catch his legs on the fixed bar when lifting him out sometimes and would have bruises across his thighs, it was rubbish!

I also have the mamas and papas portable one that folds up into a carry bag, its really good and you can adjust the height, i keep this at my mums!

Willow got her first 2 teeth this week but theres only me aloud to see them!! shes very secretive!

Firawla · 16/04/2012 13:01

the ikea one is antilop, i was gonna say that is the best one too.

KLou111 · 17/04/2012 20:47

Woohoo, Euan stood up in the bath tonight 3 times!!!! He wouldn't do it when I got the bloody camera though!!
He grabbed the tap and just pulled himself up. Very proud mummy :o

KLou111 · 17/04/2012 21:44
