Hi,
Thought I would start us a postnatal thread. Were still in hospital, here till Tuesday monitoring dd (now named Eva) and giving her the anti biotics. Im missing dd1 loads as I only get to see her at visiting and trying to contain a toddler on the ward is tough.

Hello everyone. Didn't know this thread was still going! Been too busy on the 'sleep' threads lately. DS is not crawling yet either. Glad not only one. He'll do it when ready. Can tell he's gearing up. He's also getting all teeth at once. Can see them in his gums but none through yet. Sleep been an issue since 6 months but massive fingers crossed, is getting better ! Don't want to jinx it. It's only improved since last week.

Lovely to have a read and see how other babies are doing. Anyone planning 1st birthday parties yet? Or if not, how are you going to celebrate? :)

Firawla · 09/06/2012 21:56

just came to say rafiq has started crawling now! so did not have to wait too long for him to get the hang of it in the end. he still goes really slowly though, very cute Grin

not yet thought about birthday party at all, if we do something it will be quite last minute! birthday is gonna fall during ramadan so doesnt make it too easy unfortunately, like in terms of having a party or cake etc, well the kids can eat the cake but we will hav 2 just sit n watch n nothing for ourselves

will have to think what to buy for birthday present we have most things already from the older two

cant believe all the babies are coming up to 1 yr, it has gone very quick!!

Leilandri · 10/06/2012 15:17

Leo was 10 months old on Friday Shock

He's commando crawling everywhere - it's so funny watching him, as DS1 never crawled, he went straight to cruising. He's also got a baby walker, and is now zooming around after DS1 in that and bruising our ankles!

We're hosting a big party 3 days before Leo's 1st birthday, as that will be my mums 60th, so he'll be made a fuss of then. We'll be on holiday for his actual birthday, staying with friends who haven't met him yet, so no doubt they'll make a big fuss of him too! Then when we get back from Hol, we're having alittle gathering for all his little friends that we've met through some mummy meet-ups that I go to, DS1 will be at nursery, so they can all wriggle around and get upto mischief together :)
He's got a big activity aeroplane toy for his big pressie, and some wooden traintrack and engines to go with DS1's track, so that he can join in!

MrsStevo · 11/06/2012 22:47

Ooooooooooooooh!!!! You're all still here!!!!

My god, I haven't been on mumsnet for yonks. These babies keep you busy don't they!

I will catch up with all your news when time allows. Our girls -Madeleine and Sophia - are nearly 11 months now and crawling everywhere and pulling themselves up. They've become a massive handful in the last week or so and suddenly seem super-active but it is WONDERFUL!

Hope all my August 2011 buddies are doing well and enjoying mummyhood!

Leilandri · 12/06/2012 20:04

Oh MrsStevo so lovely to hear that you and your beautiful girls are doing well :)
I have a friend who has just had to have her baby girls by C-section at 28 wks because of twin-to-twin transfusion, and your pregnancy came to mind while she was talking, was nice to be able to give her some reassurance xx

KLou111 · 13/06/2012 21:23

Hi all!!

Great to hear from you MrsStevo! Well done you on surviving with 2 babies first of all, 1 keeps us busy all the time, and he's good!! Glad everything going well with you and your girls.

Regarding birthday party, Euan is 10 months today eeek!! Time has flown! Anyway, we're moving 'home' from 3.5 hours away 2 weeks on Monday, soooooo excited and would LOVE to throw a huge party with all our friends and family, but I think we're just going ask a few friends and family over on the day.
I've found the cake I want to make for him for his big day.
We are getting him a smart trike sport (green one, duplo blocks, a sandpit, bath stuff and god knows what else. We were going to get him a battery operated/parental control jeep, but will get that for Christmas instead.

Well, it's been a busy week here. Last Wednesday Euan just got up and walked with his push walker. One minute he was playing pressing all the buttons, next thing he was stood up behind it pushing it along, practically running as we have a wood floor lol! He thought he was so clever and couldn't stop smiling. So proud :)
Then on Friday he got off the sofa himself feet first, which I'd been teaching him for a couple of weeks, and he finally did it on his own.

Then today he got down the stairs himself :) I had only been showing him on and off for about a week, and today he did it, picks up quick that kid!!
My mum and dad showed me and my brothers to climb up and down the stairs as my eldest brother had an accident trying to climb over the stairgate (from the top) so they got rid of it and that was that!!
We're about to move to a 3 storey house so thought I'd try and get it 'done' now!! Think we'll have one right at the top though where his bedroom is (or put one on his door).

How's everyone else x

Hello all.

I obviously have a lazy boy. Alex shows no interest in crawling or walking what so ever. He bum shuffles accross our wooden floor but that's about it. DD was crawling at 10 months and was charging around with her walker at 11 months so he is obviously going to be later then her, which I have no problem with - your workload increases hugely once they are mobile!

We have just got back from a fortnight in Turkey which was lovely (apart from the magnitude 6.0 earthquake - which was interesting let's say!). Alex was a star and (apart from a few days where he was a bit miserable before a new tooth cut through) behaved beautifully and slept through every night we were away.

The ladies at the creche fell in love with him and as he now gives you great big sloppy kisses if you ask him for a kiss, they all lined up to kiss and cuddle him when we left. They said he was the most perfect baby - always happy and smiley, happy to go to anyone but also happy to play by himself. Also very proud of DD (who is 4) as the swim coach at the hotel said she was the best 4 yr old swimmer she'd ever seen and worked with DD who got her 50m whilst we were there.

Alex has got a smart trike as well for his birthday - not sure about a party yet though - we may just have a few friends round for a BBQ.

Morgan turned one a week ago! Her Daddy made her a mini smash cake for her to explore on her highchair tray. When we gave it to her, my entire family in FL was watching from my Mom's on Skype - they even had their own little party there. Later in the afternoon, various members of my hubby's family stopped by with cards and gifts. It was a great day. I would say the biggest hit for Morgan was waking up and seeing all the decorations, balloons, etc we had put up for her in the night. Seeing her point and smile at banners, streamers, etc made our day! She picked up ripping wrapping paper off in no time too.

She is 18 lbs, still in her 6-9 months clothes and totally healthy. Although she has been on the move since about 9 months, she just started properly crawling (on all fours) a couple days before her birthday. She now says hi, bye bye, yea, lala, up, moo, mum and daddy. She is 100% feeding herself (with her hands, lol). She won't accept us spoon feeding her at all. She is great with a sippy cup and loaded her first spoon herself and got it into her mouth a few days ago. When I talked to the health visitor about changes at 1, I about fainted with everything we needed to step up, change etc. Funny thing is, Morgan has done many of them all on her own!! She is now standing on her knees to hold on to the cot rail, try to get stuff off the sofa, etc. She is lovely!

We completely baby proofed (gates and all) about 2 months ago and now that she is moving around more and faster, I am so glad we did it then.

Going to post a birthday photo now!!!!

hi sarge, no problem, it could be from his reflux and its all become habit, im sure that you will find once he is walking more and getting more tired out his sleep will improve greatly.

Firawla · 20/06/2012 23:39

awww lovely pics, sounds like morgan had a great bday

wow @ bertie walking already!

KLou111 · 23/06/2012 12:06

Awww wishwales she's lovely!! So glad everything is going ok.

Wow sarge at the walking!

Well all ok here, moving a week Monday, had a frikkin nuff of it tbh. Sick of the mess, sick off not spending time with Euan, just want it all over!!
Even though most stuff is packed, because the furniture needs to be broken down, the house still looks full iyswim?

Euan took his 1st step on Thursday just before bed, just 1, and hasn't done it since cos plainly we haven't had a chance!!
He's been sleeping in for a few weeks now, and we have to wake him in the morning about 9 after going to bed at 7! And he still has a couple of hours lunchtime!!

Teladi · 24/06/2012 00:19

I wish I had come back here sooner! DD just started crawling last week, and she is 10 months this week. She just sat on her rear until then, and then suddenly started crawling properly on all fours. I guess it must just have been time! I thought she was the last baby in the world to start crawling as all the babies at baby & toddler group seemed to be going places much sooner! I have to say I'm secretly quite glad she's not walking or climbing stairs yet, that seems like a bit of a task for me!!! I think she might pull up soon but only so she can reach things. She is so nosey.

She is a sunny little thing these days, some of you might remember me saying she wasn't overly fond of people other than her parents but that has changed now, which is nice. I am back to work 3 days, went back about 7 weeks ago. We had a bumpy start at nursery, but after about 2 weeks she settled in fine and really loves it there now. I guess some of you who work may be coming to the end of maternity leave now if you took max allocation? I was worried about going back but really it was fine and I think it was a good time to do it for both of us.

Hi all. Leo is 11 months old today Shock

He is now crawling properly on all fours, pulling himself up, and starting to cruise around. He follows his big brother everywhere, which is quite adorable. He refuses to listen or understand what the the word "No" means, he just gives a cheeky grin and carries on regardless! Such a cheeky monkey Grin

KLou111 · 09/07/2012 13:52

Advice please ladies. Which kitchen cupboard locks do you recommend?

All good here. Moved a week today, gone so quick. LOVE our new house, is huge!! Painted Euans room yesterday from bright pink to blue, looks lovely, but he's been in his travel cot due to the smell. Thank god his sleeping is still fine. Not walking yet, we've got 3 steps so far and he stands a lot :)

neverlookback · 09/07/2012 21:15

Hi All, Well Willow is Just 10 months old, we had her christening last weekend which went really well and she was so good all day, she is very angelic!! absoloutly no crawling or pulling up or walking at all which is starting to worry me a bit! She whizzes around in her walker and goes in the jumperoo but out if those she isnt really that interested in putting weight on her legs, she does a lot of rolling and is starting to push up with her hands so i know we will get there eventually!
we go on holiday a week on thursday cant wait to get there and get her in the pool with her brother and sister she adores them!

I got cupboard catches from poundland when DS1 was little. We found that they worked fine. After not being able to get in to cupboard on 1st or 2nd try he lost interest and moved onto some other mischief.
Have got lots left, so will see if they work for Leo. He is more of a little buggar mischievious and determined than his big brother, so we might have to invest in something more robust!
