Hi,
Thought I would start us a postnatal thread. Were still in hospital, here till Tuesday monitoring dd (now named Eva) and giving her the anti biotics. Im missing dd1 loads as I only get to see her at visiting and trying to contain a toddler on the ward is tough.

OP posts:

just looked at your pics wishwales Morgan is a gorgeous little lady and it brought a tear to my eye the first pic when she was born, so yeah i cant imagine how it makes you feel xxx

wishwales · 10/03/2012 17:43

Sarge, Thanks for the hugs and support! We had the colic and reflux really bad for a few months as well - once she was home with us. It is heartbreaking, isn't it? I am so glad things are better and that you were able to get help when you most needed it. I miss my Dad terribly but grateful that Morgan and I went to FL to see him in October before he got really unwell.

never, you are too sweet! She does love her food, thankfully! It's funny how the shock and trauma caught up with me so much after the fact. What is even funnier is that it surprised me that it DID catch up to me. It took a while for me to realize it was happening but when I found myself saying things like 'I feel like at outsider observing my life with Morgan, and not experiencing it' and 'I am not enjoying being a mother', etc, I knew I needed help. My husband and I have frequent little arguments as well and we never did before the baby. It is so stressful! Thanks for saying she is cute as well - we certainly think so.

Combo weaning has worked very well for us. We do BLW followed by organic purees/mush for every meal. She loves choosing bits of food from her tray and feeding herself. Then when she is bored of it, over-stimulated or frustrated, we move on to the HIPP or Organix jars. We are having SO much fun!!!

KK8T · 07/04/2012 20:15

I've just found this thread again (I was KTisPG) and it's great to hear Edwin seems to be almost identical to the other babies here doing BLW. I think he is the youngest of the "August 2011" babies since he was actually born on 10 September :) . He is over the 100th percentile for both his height and his weight: 24lb 5 1/2 oz and 75 cms and is growing out of 12 - 18 months clothes Shock. Mind you he was 11lb7 when he was born so he's just carried on the trend LOL.

He is still breastfed and because we're doing BLW is still feeding between 1 and 4 times a night too. I have also noticed that he has increased his night feeds as his interest in what's going on increased. He's so nosy he will only feed the bare minimum during the day but makes up for it at night. He has two bottom teeth and loves to try new finger foods from whatever we are having, but doesn't see it as food :o .

I hope you are all doing well and Happy Easter [busmile]

Hi all, happy Easter!! [bugrin]

Isn't it strange how all our babies are more or less the same age yet totally different size wise!!
He was 20lb 13.5 last weds, just ordered a few 9-12 bits as he is quite long too and his trousers are more 3/4s!!

No crawling from this end yet, however lots of shuffling, and Euan sits up, puts one foot behind him, and pushes, and drags himself with his hands. He just wants to stand all the time and pulls on anything to get up (the dog is getting bald spots!!)

He's started spinning himself upside down in his cot, so he wakes probably twice wanting to turn back round. He still is a fab sleeper, 7pm-8am ish, although Fri and yest we had 9am [bugrin], but last night he went up 6, bed 6.20, woke 8 this morning (after a turning episode at midnight and 5am lol).

Euan has been enjoying loads of different foods, I make about a months worth at a time, but he also has a bit of what we have if suitable. Tooth 2 coming too so he's loving more and more finger foods.

We're off on our jollies again in 3 weeks, going to Egypt this time, going for 12 nights, not just a week, so excited. Think it'll be slightly warmer than tenerife lol!
Not looking forward to the flight as he is a bit heavier than he was at 14 weeks!!
Looking forward to getting Euan in the pool. He's been moved from the baby group to the 1-2s as he absolutely loves the water and is a bit too confident!! We only go once per week so it'll be nice getting him in a bit more.

Have a fab day all x x

Oh, I've been thinking about baby number 2 for months sarge!! 'Asked' Dh about me coming off the pill, but he's not keen as he wants us to enjoy Euan, which I totally agree with. We've decided the earliest I'll come off is when Euan is 1, latest new year. I got pregnant so quick last time, it wouldn't be good timing if it happened again at the moment!
But we are planning on moving from south west Wales back home to the midlands this year, house went up for sale last week, but we may holiday let it so we can go quicker. So that's another reason we need to wait really. Don't fancy being pregnant and moving!!

Sounds like you have it planned sarge know what you mean though about getting the bad sleeping put the way though. I am dreading if number 2 doesn't sleep well, and could do with getting all that over and done with lol!
I also didn't really enjoy being pregnant much, I kinda wish you could grow one in a petri dish!!!
I really couldn't tell you a preference, hand on heart. I always always wanted a girl (before preg with Euan), but since we've had him, and loving him so bloody much, I honestly would love either one of each, or a brother for Euan.
We're only going to have 2.
How many are you thinking of having?

Glad I'm not the only one!! My hips are definitely wider and my shoulders broader.
I don't feel as womanly, but I have put on a little weight since Euan was born so am currently trying to lose it for hol. 4 down, 10lbs to go....!

Hope your business planning goes well, can't beat being self employed :)
And even number children (from my experience) are best, 1 and 3s never got on, whereas 2 and 4s did. And good going being still on the pill!

A lady at my baby swim class is preg again, she got preg straight away with her first, and thought it would take a while with the second, so they started trying when her daughter was 9 months. She's due in June, and her daughter will only be 19 months, she caught straight away again! I still can't tell if she's pleased or not, think it shocked her a bit!!

bettyboo83 · 09/04/2012 21:24

Hi girls, I'm definitely broody too but am being a bridesmaid in December and already have my dress so no room for a bump! Also Joshua has only recently started sleeping through and I'm very reluctant to give that up in the near future!! Have you started back at work yet? I go back the first week in June and im dreading leaving him. I need a lottery win!

16 April for me too, full time :( dreading it to be honest but I have no choice as DH is a SAHD. I'm horribly broody too but DH won't even consider number 4. Re age gaps I between DD and DS1 is 2.4 years and DS1 and DS2 is 3.6 years. 3.6 has definitely been easier. Its the extra year's worth of understanding, and being able to wait, understand instructions etc that I think has made all the difference.

Edwin's gone from no teeth to 3 in the space of 10 days! Doesn't seem to be bothering him too much so far though, fingers crossed.

neverlookback · 11/04/2012 10:52

wow this thread had fallen off my thingy and now ive found it your all chatting away!! Willow had a bout of sickness and the runs she was so poorly on easter monday we had to spend 2 hrs at the emergency docs, i was very worried she couldnt keep anything down and was so floppy and sleepy but shes picked up but was sick in the night once again. her sister was sick on sun night at 4.30am and her bro had the runs last week so once again its been the house of illness, hope it passes me by!

Willow is just about sitting up on her own and has 1 tooth with one more almost through and shes been fine with them, she said mama for the first time on monday when she was poorly crying which broke my heart.
shes fab at eating and loves to suck on brocolli and corn on the cob's!

im glad to say im not really broody at all!!! phew ive got 3 now (6,3 and 7m) and im done i think, my ds was a terrible sleeper and still wakes quite regulary, shouting out, needing a wee, uncovered etc and Willow is following suit with still having a bottle 1-2 times a night, i really dont think i could go through with the sleepless nights again!
plus i think another would just tip me over the edge, sometimes im doing so many things at once and im so in demand by all 3 that i can only just cope.

but having said that i love babies !!! and my last pg and birth was the easiest of all and ive not found it as hard as i thought i would having 3 so who knows!!! in only 33 but dp is 43 and we have filled all the bedrooms!

neverlookback · 11/04/2012 11:04

and just thinking about age gaps, ive got 3yrs and 2yrs9m between mine, id say get your first one walking before having another as when 2 need carrying its hard, but go with what feels right to you, everyone who says having them close together is good as they play together more. when i was in 2 minds about having my 3rd someone said to me, "you'll never look back and regret having a baby but you may regret not having a baby later on" that swayed it for me and its true i could never imagine life without her and all the worries i had when i was pregnant have never happened!

Lovely to see some chatting about our babies.

i have been back at work now for 7 weeks. Tis fine, Alex is doing fine with DH at home but is very pleased to see me when i get home - he usually holds his arms in the air to be picked up and then bursts into tears.

Alex is wearing 9-12 month trousers now and before i started work 7 weeks ago he weighed 21lb 7oz so i reckon he is around 23lb now. He has two teeth and says Mum mum , Dad Dad and nan nan.

We have a 3yr 11 month age gap and it really is very easy. DD was old enough to entertain herself when we were busy with DS and is a very attentive big sister and is always willing to dance around for him to make him laugh.

I travelled with them both to spain for Easter by myself and it went fine. Alex did really well - he is so nosy he loved being able to look at lots of people. He would just fixate on someone and smile at them until they gave in and smiled back at him. He would then take that as a green flag and would babble away at them and beam. Very sweet.

He is for the most part a very chilled and happy little boy. Sleeps for 12 hrs a night and is amost too cute for words. He has changed so much - he now has blonde hair and huge blue eyes which he uses to great effect and constantly flirts with ladies!
