evening all - hope everyone has had a fab weekend and enjoyed the lack of rain! It was my sister's hen do yesterday (picnic in park, bunting making session at my mate's shop and then drinks and food in a pub) which was great fun (and she loved her hen presents - I got her an album and stuffed it full of photos of her and her boyfriend, mates and family over the ages with some witty commentary, and got her mates to write in messages) but god, seeing her friends (some of whom I last saw when they were 15 or 18) all grown up made me feel VERY old indeed! One of her friends came to the picnic with her little 6 week old baby which made me feel v broody too! Teeny tiny babies with little worried old man looks about then are so lovely! Have had a quiet day recovering today - and Danny and DS1 kindly slept in till 7.30 to enable me to do so! Made a nice change from the 5.30 starts that are their usual MO!

MoS - are you back in the UK now? All unpacked? Glad to see you brought the sun with you...

@@@@@@@

I am just down the road from you today... I can seeeeeeeeeee you!

dinkystinky · 07/07/2011 16:03

Bet you cant swampster - I now have a rubbish internal window based office so have no idea what the world outside is doing any more. Regularly get caught out by leaving the office to find am dressed inappropriately for the storm/summer/hail etc. outside...

have been on the pre school trip today - really enjoyed it - very tired children Wink

MarkStretch · 07/07/2011 19:37

I'm here! Swampy- did you get caught in the river of water today?

I still haven't been brave enough to join an ante-natal group on here...

We are decorating our bedroom at the moment and the house it a tip. We are sleeping on a mattress on DS's bedroom floor while he is in with DD on the bottom bunk. Her room is full of all our crap and clothes and most of my belongings are in bin bags! However, painting and wallpapering is now done and the carpet is being laid tomorrow morning. Curtains and lampshades are up and we only have 2 more bits of furniture to construct and then we can put it all back together.

Funny, I seem to remember spending a long time sitting on the living room floor during my last pregnancy as we were waiting for new sofas, must be my nesting instinct kicking in early?!

swampster · 07/07/2011 19:59

It was a proper river down the road MS!

Where did pre-schoolers trip to, ooogs?

oooggs · 07/07/2011 20:11

we went to Trethorne Leisure Park Launceston Cornwall - lucky the weather was ok!!!

swampster · 07/07/2011 20:55

Sweet.

mumoverseas · 09/07/2011 17:11

hello, sorry have been AWOL for a while, real life a bit mad! Not stopped rushing around like loons the last week.
DS1 was 18 yesterday, god do I feel old! MS hah, a 9 year old could still put you under 30! Wink

DH going back to KSA Monday (relieved smiley!) he is driving me mad. Have just literally this morning finished unpacking all but one suitcase. He is incapable of doing anything and just moves things around. DS1's school ball tonight and I still can't find my lovely bag which matches my dress and shoes Sad. Also, two bags of my jewellery which I brought back hand luggage appear to have vanished and he can't seem to understand why I'm so upset. Some of the jewellery was given to me by my mum so very special Sad

Ref meet up, I can do 9th or 11th August but if 10th better for everyone else I'll do that and just won't put kids in nursery that day although I'll still have to pay Sad

Right, better dash, need to try to look human.

PS, apologies for the rain, no doubt due to my 'new' car. A convertible that I picked up Tuesday pm and rain started an hour later Hmm

swampster · 10/07/2011 23:46

Anyone up for a book circle?

MarkStretch · 11/07/2011 14:43

I have a library book waiting for me which has laid unread for the last month and I picked up another today! I think I just like getting books out, must make more time to read them...

Things have been non stop here recently, bedroom is nearly finished and we have DH's borthday celebrations this week. We were thinking of taking DS to MIL's on Wednesday and going out for lunch together - with NO children Shock

What a novelty that will be!

Calico1 · 13/07/2011 21:36

OK, I have the 9th - 11th penciled into my diary for a possible meet up - MOS is it just going to be you and me?? Where's SM gone?

MOS Hope you find your jewellery - so upsetting to lose sentimental things. You have an 18 year old!!! I can't imagine what my DS will be like at 18.

Swampy - book circle sounds great though I take so long to finish a book these days that I'd never get through them in time.

Having some difficult days with Lilian. She can be very determined little lady and completely ignores my attempts at discipline. She refused to let me dress her this morning - I finally wrestled her into some clothes and brought her downstairs and in the minute that it took me to get my car keys and bag she had taken most of her clothes off again. She went to nursery in a vest, nappy socks and shoes and I just handed the rest of her clothes to the staff....

MS did you get your quiet lunch?

dinkystinky · 14/07/2011 23:08

What ho lovely ladies! Sorry have been awol - work has gone super made crazy bad again (currently sat in office waiting for cab to go home) so v little time to MN. Though managed to sneak out to go see Blondie yesterday for a couple of hours (band went on at 9.30 at Somerset House) which was awesome - cant believe Debbie Harry is 66! Have been singing Ato-MIC! all day Grin Hope all are good and you're enjoying your new car MoS. So sorry to hear about the bags going missing - have you reported to the airline?

Calico- Danny is little mister stubborn and disobedient. My new mantra is Pick Your Battles - to be rotated with Its Just A Phase - This Too Will Pass on permanent loop. Though he is so cute I can forgive him most things.

OP posts:
Calico1 · 15/07/2011 13:34

Dinky very Envy of Blondie at Somerset House - she can't be 66 surely! Arggghhh that makes me feel really old as I remember singing along to Sunday Girl as a teenager. I have been trying to pick my battles with Lilian and am no longer concerned that she chooses to leave the house in odd shoes and without anything but a nappy on her lower half Grin. I do take firm line with her on biting and pinching - poor DS is black and blue! She has actually drawn blood - naughty little vampire!

mumoverseas · 15/07/2011 21:41

dinky surely you weren't still working at gone 11pm? Shock please tell me I'm wrong! Very Envy of you seeing Blondie and am also shocked she is 66. I also remember singing along to Sunday Girl [old hag emotcion]

thankfully it appears some if not all of my 'missing' jewellery has turned up. Now I know I packed it hand luggage (split between mine and DH's) I know what I had and know it went in bags in Saudi. DH has now 'found' some jewellery (not sure what, he is unable to describe properly) in Saudi. Most odd. My best guess is that some ended up going back in his hand luggage and he has 'found it' Hmm Hopefully it is all there and accounted for, was very upsetting.

So who else for meet up 9th/10th/11th? (prefer not 10th but can do if that is the only day everyone else can)

Off to Devon for a week tomorrow, staying in a caravan Hmm really unsure how it will be, will either be a fabulous week or a hideous week, there will be no inbetween. DD2 is very excited about staying in a caravan DD1 is being a stroppy teenager and I'm on the verge of wanting to strangle her. Fingers crossed for good weather and well behaved children. G & H are driving me insane. G keeps coming into my bed everynight in the early hours and H has been there everynight since DH went back to KSA. Need sleep Sad

How is everyone doing? SM has good news about a job Grin

oooggs · 16/07/2011 06:40

morning ladies - just back from the Next sale Grin mad I know

Please bring some nice weather to Devon MOS - whereabouts are you going?

Yes I do live in Cornwall but on the border with Devon so over there a lot Wink

mumoverseas · 16/07/2011 07:30

loon! was reading a thread last started by a MNer who works at Next and said how mad it was.
A bit gutted about weather forecast, rain apparently for next 5 days! We are going to Teignmouth staying in a Hoseasons. We are planning on travelling a bit and thought about going to Tintagel as went there years ago and loved it but not sure how far it is from where we are. Will PM you my phone number.

dinkystinky · 16/07/2011 19:50

Sadly yes was still at work MoS - hope your trip to Cornwall is better weatherwise than predicted and the air and activity knocks out the kids - and you- so you get some sleep. Glad the jewellery has turned up. Oooggs - wow you are a loon indeed - did you get any good stuff? made it out last night to go see Dylan Moran - absolutely hilarious! Anyone heard from silvery moon or summer rain recently? Down at MIL now for her 65 birthday celebrations now - quite looking forward to a quiet weekend at some point in the future....

Hello.
Sorry I've been AWOL, it's been a busy few weeks!
Off to catch up. x

SilveryMoon · 16/07/2011 20:08

Swampy I looked at your book swap club, and although I love realding and would like to join, I don't have as much time to read as I'd like Sad

Right, so meet-up, I'm easy for any day........................

It has been very quiet here hasn't it?
Where is SR? Hope she's ok.

I've just been busy job hunting, and so on.
I start at an SEN school in September, very excited but now I have to enrol Luke in a nursery. Not sure how he'll take it.

I don't have anything else interesting to share.

MarkStretch · 17/07/2011 20:26

Hello

I just had a count up and on the Due Jan 2012 there are 58 people, that's LOADS! Surely there weren't that many of us?! I still haven't announced my arrival...

Anyway as I will be given a CS in December should I join the December group instead? Help!

I am 16 weeks today, 4 months, blimey... Better take a bump photo soon. Where are you all? I love my fab febbers...

swampster · 17/07/2011 21:09

MS and MOS and Calico1 - I've put you down for the book circle. You can bow out (dis)gracefully if you want to. Did you want to join SM?
