Hello ladies, hope you found your way over here okay!

Our little newborns are newborns no more! :( :)

Hopefully a while yet before teething and weaning starts, but there's definitely a lot of wiggling and squealing going on already :o

jjkm - DD looks like she goes for things with her right hand too.

My hair's also coming out all over the place, wondering when it'll slow down.

DD doesn't appear to be a fan of steam trains, or feeding on steam trains more specifically. She's zonked now so might have to nudge her to ensure she goes to bed at bedtime.

saltnvinigarcrips · 04/06/2011 22:10

I'm also trying a sippy cup but again no joy. Also trying to persevere with the bottle to no avail. DS seems happy enough to have it in his mouth and chew on it but just doesn't seem to get the sucking part Confused
Also suffering from hair falling out all over the place. Feel like a malting dog tbh and doesn't help that I don't brush it regularly (hope that doesn't make me sound too awful).

I definitely think the weather is having an effect on Henry. He is sleeping lots more and generally very grumpy unless he is in his pram. Should I be worried that he sucks all the sun cream off his hands? Yesterday he just wouldn't settle and so I was up at 4 and 5am. Not happy! I've realised that if I don't get a good night's sleep I am such a moody cow the next day.

Is anyone else thinking of starting taster foods? Or has anyone already done this? TBH I just want to go out and buy a cute spoon and bowl Grin

4 month growth spurt anyone? i'm having a really tough time, ds1 was exactly the same and it lasted well over a month and we're only 1 week in. he's been in such a good gina ford routine, self settling and now it's all gone horribly wrong. my ears are seriously hurting from the screeching.

might try infacol this week for when he feeds to sleep, doesn't burp then wakes up 1/2hr later screaming. i tried it when he was a few weeks old but wasn't very good at giving it every feed, but read that you have to use it every feed for it to build up and work?

was 1/2 thinking about weaning but i started too early with ds1 and am in no rush for more stuff to do! am thinking about it more in a "what on earth am i going to do" way cause ds2 was blw. might do mixed this time, quite liked spoon feeding mush but blw was so much easier.

Fuzzywood · 05/06/2011 08:53

Just book marking quickly as I lost you all. Will post properly later.

RunningKatie · 05/06/2011 15:22

I would like to shoot my neighbours, the selfish chuffers had a party that went on till 6am, much of the time spent in the garden so we couldn't have the windows open but could still hear them, and the music was thudding. Thankfully DD slept through it all, but I lay there seething so am shattered today.

She seems to have found her voice and is "talking" away to DP which is very cute. :)

I've been looking at blw Natural, I was wondering about doing that most of the time but occasionally reverting to mush if we were out etc.

Poor you running ours also had a wee party, but they're boring old farts it was a quiet affair and didn't last very long, but even that kept me awake.

jjkm your neighbours vandalised their own property? that's horrible and can't be nice to live next to - poor you

L is also chatting away to everybody, just in the past week or so. Literally any time he can. Still no advance on rolling, but the poor lad's not on the floor at anytime at the moment as it's either unsafe, or we're charging around like loons so he's in our arms or in the pram.

salt I'm not going to do any weaning until six months. As breastmilk is as calorific as possible, I'm not going to do anything to reduce his calories while he's still not sleeping for long bouts at a time.

maGicGift · 05/06/2011 22:10

Hi, can I join you please Grin I have a 7yr old DD and a 19 week old DS, just experiencing the joys of the 4 mnth growth spurt at the moment and some support would be great, recently he has been waking every 2hrs at night time! How long does this last?

naturalbaby · 06/06/2011 14:39

blw when we went out was a tricky one. in the first couple of months it was quite hard to get food for him off our plates that was suitable but he wouldn't let a spoon of anything near his mouth!

this growth spurt is really getting to me. i read it's because they are working up to a big development growth spurt at 19weeks so it should stop then?! i want my contented gina ford baby back!

naturalbaby · 06/06/2011 14:48

anybody else's baby discovered their new friend in the mirror yet? i held him up yesterday and he did a double take, then broke out in a huge grin and started gurgling and chatting away, and flapping his arms!

travispickles · 06/06/2011 19:07

Hi all! Been with the in-laws which was stressful as their house is very very hot and the baby was out of her routine. She was getting stressed over feeding which then stressed me out so you can imagine. Glad to be back I can tell you. Yes oh yes for the hair falling out - driving me mad. Also appear to have a receding hairline from losing so much. Started Sas on a tiny bit of babyrice with breastmilk yesterday - she loved it! Will probably stick to that until we get nearer the 6month mark. Naturalbaby - what do you mean by starting too early? What was wrong?
JJKM - what is wrong with Alexa's gag reflex?
Great to hear how you are all doing...

saltnvinigarcrips · 06/06/2011 20:21

Sorry naturalbaby but what is blw? Also DS has been an utter nightmare today so wondering if he is having the 4 month growth spurt although he will be 19 weeks on Friday. Basically he has found his scream and randomly has screaming fits now. STarting to worry about what he will be like at 2 as he seems very tantrummy already. He screams in his pram unless it is pushed, he screams when I try and put anything over his head and has generally started to yelp as a form of chatting (that last bit is cute though).

And yes to the mirror question naturalbaby my DS also smiles at himself and giggles.

Travis where did you buy the babyrice. I had a look in Tesco tody but it was all follow on milk (just a small tesco)
bubba I thought babyrice helped them sleep through? Think I may try babyrice in the next week or two if I can organise myself accordingly with plastic spoon.

Anyone's baby teething? Can't see anything in DS's mouth but wondering if he could be teething after his performance today. Bless him he is the most adorable monster and I still managed to get him to laugh by kissing his face all over and blowing raspberries on his belly Grin

naturalbaby · 06/06/2011 20:32

blw is baby led weaning. instead of pureeing the food and feeding it on a spoon you give them chunks of suitable food and let them feed themself. it's my lazy option! they explore the food themselves and will naturally choose what they want/need. it's surprising to see how they choose a balanced, healthy selection.
when ds1 went through the 4 month growth spurt i had no idea what was going on and it went on for weeks. i tried weaning just under 5months to see if that would help and he took weeks to get it - he still had the tongue thrust reflex so i spent a couple of weeks trying to push food into his mouth while he tried to push it out!

Is there anything they can do for her jjkm?

Welcome back travis long time no post as the saying goes Hmm. Glad you're back home in the world of sanity away from the ILs

Welcome MaGicGift :)

Our 'first' for yesterday was L sitting in the seat bit of the trolley at the supermarket! Admittedly he clung on to my finger for the entire shop, but still, it was very sweet to see him sitting there like a little boy :o

FlubbaBubba · 07/06/2011 06:25

Ooh, spooky - ignoring the seconds, our posts were backwards in time of each other jjkm Shock Hmm :o

travispickles · 07/06/2011 10:30

Salt - I got the babyrice in Boots although noticed it in Wilkos (yep - I virtually live in that shop!) yesterday.

Hey all, finally I get 5 minutes to catch up on the thread. Hope they can sort out the swallowing JJKM, sounds like hard work.
Welcome MaGicGift we went through a loooong night last night as well, hoping it doesn't last!
All a bit manic here as DH is away with work again, went this afternoon and back Friday evening. DD has turned into a Daddy's girl so it all gets a bit traumatic when he goes away (he's now away most weeks). Though so far so good tonight, i can still hear her reading to her toys though so it could go either way Smile.
Never mind I've got a pizza in the oven, Wine in the fridge and a beer in hand (cos the Wine wasn't in the fridge) so it can't be that bad.

Evan has really discovered his voice as well Running though generally its more shouting than talking Hmm. Developmental news, he sat up on his own for about 30 seconds today . He rolls really easily now from front to back but can't quite manage it the other way and is getting really frustrated bless him which is quite comical at times.

Salt I think Evan is teething as he's desperate to gnaw on anything and everything, have you tried Ashton and Parsons powders? Seems to help settle him down. Also using teething gel which if nothing else surprises him into quietness for a while.

Right pizza Grin

FlubbaBubba · 09/06/2011 07:34

God it's quiet on here these days!

L has well and truly found his voice and chats all day every day unless the girls are chatting screeching high pitched and very loudly at him, all day and ever day.

I have a headache! >>sigh

Fuzzywood · 09/06/2011 08:36

I'm having the same trouble with getting rid of my tummy too. Going to a wedding on Saturday so have invested in some Bridget Jones stylee huge pants. If I then just breathe in all day I should be fine Grin.
Have had DD tell me she doesn't like me and wants Daddy twice already today, it could be a long one! May head off to a soft play place or something later to let her run off some steam!
Ev is really funny he's been shouting all morning but as soon as he hears DH's voice on the phone he goes all wide eyed and silent. Roll on tomorrow evening when DH is back.

FlubbaBubba · 09/06/2011 09:39

I thought my belly was okay if I kind of layed out flat - but the girls jumped on me doing just that yesterday, and started wobbling my tum shouting "fatty pancake" "wibbly wobbly jelly" and other such hilarities Hmm :o :(
