Hello ladies, hope you found your way over here okay!

Our little newborns are newborns no more! :( :)

Hopefully a while yet before teething and weaning starts, but there's definitely a lot of wiggling and squealing going on already :o

Hmm this bottles business sounds complicated. I was thinking of going over to powder as I'm sick to the back teeth of expressing, I swear it has aged me by 10 years. We top up with cartons which isn't too expensive as we don't use many, but would be ££££ if no ebm.

Does anyone know when you stop sterilising the bottles btw? MIL thinks it's 3 months Confused.

Fuzzywood · 30/05/2011 04:00

Flora I think once you get into the swing of it with bottles it's not too bad. My problem at the start was getting everything washed and sterilised in time, I'd get part way through the day and be trying to juggle screaming baby, bottle brush and steriliser. Just a personal opinion, I think the formula manufacturers are just way too cautious in regards to advising against making bottles in advance to cover themselves if they get sued. My mum formula fed me and my brother and the method then was to make the whole day's bottles in a jug and pour into bottles whichwere kept in the fridge.
Anyway, in regards to sterilising I think it's 6 months, will double check. Apart from bottles I'm nowhere near as careful as I was with DD. Her dummy used to get sterilised if it touched the floor. With DS as long as it's not covered in dirt or been on a really dirty surface we employ the 5 second rule. I figure as DD is kissing him all the time and passing him toys to play with then sterilising his dummy isn't going to help him. Smile
Sorry prattling on whilst feeding the little guy, just ignore me Grin. right he's finished back to sleep for a few hours

LadyBuzz · 30/05/2011 09:23

gallic i do it the same way as you, I know its against the current guidelines but I have done it with all 3 with no problems and it works for me.

fuzzy i'm sure 6 months is correct, I was exactly the same with DS1s things, nothing was dirty EVER! DS2 occasionly got hs dummy rinsed, DD doesn't have one so it isn't a problem.
I used to steralise DS1s bowls and cutlery at first too Blush

I did steralise DS2s bottles until he was a year but i doubt very much i'll do it this time past 6 months.

travispickles · 30/05/2011 14:47

Hi all - well, I missed Saskia's nap this afternoon - cue one very very tired screaming baby. Anyone else have that? I know I should just put her down and let her cry it out but am a total wet with my child and can't bear the howling Sad.
Still ebf here but have to start moving to bottle at midday. Can I just miss bottles and go to those cup things (have one that says from 4 months)-amyone done that?

Fuzzywood · 30/05/2011 15:33

Travis one if my friends moved straight to a cup at around 5 months. But if they say from 4 months you may as well give it a go.
What is it they say LadyB, sterilise for the first child, rinse in water for the second and wipe on trousers for the third Grin.
Just back from Legoland, not as hellish as I feared. Had a chat with Dennis Wise as well, he seems a very nice chap, not at all like I'd imagined. I'm knackered now, hoping for early bedtimes here today!

Hi ladies, just bookmarking - back from a fantastic camping long weekend and deep-cleaning the filthy buggers kids is taking a while! Really fab to hear from you again florapost - have been thinking of you over the past couple of months, and you sound like you've really got your head screwed on and miniFlora is a lucky lad to have you for his mummy :)

Back soon to catch up properly

LadyBuzz · 30/05/2011 19:40

fuzzy yes thats the one Grin

RunningKatie · 31/05/2011 08:04

why does DD decide 5.20am is time to great the world? Her big smile is just lovely but it would have been more lovely if she'd gone back to sleep after her feed.

Lovely to see you back Flora :)

I'm hoping to get DD onto a sippy cup at 6 months if we manage to bf for the next 2 months! Our steriliser was a handmedown so I've never been entirely sure how to use it, but DD has only had 2 bottles of expressed milk and wasn't impressed with them so continues to be a limpet. I know weaning will be messy but I can't wait!

FlubbaBubba · 31/05/2011 09:09

Morning all. Scrubbers have been packed off to nursery for the day, The Boy is looking like he's about to fall asleep in his bouncer, third load of five Shock washes has just finished so about to hang that out, but grabbing 5 mins here first.

running The Boy does exactly the same - smiley, smiley and sweet, but ignores the subtlety of the lyrics in my rendition of "It's Blinking Stupid O'Clock My Lovely" Hmm :o

He also still won't take the bottle, and is back on EVERY THREE HOURS all through the night! :( Aargggggh.

We're planning a quiet one today, trying to catch our breath after the holiday weekend - oh pants, he's just filled his, back in a bit! :o

Fuzzywood · 31/05/2011 20:43

Did you just hose them down in the garden Bubba?!
Is it worth trying a sippy cup type thing with L Bubba maybe he'd take that and it'd give you a bit of a break.
DS does the whole look at me I'm so gorgeous thing at stupid o'clock too little bugger darling Smile.
Just one thing I need to confirm, Rich Tea biscuits have no calories do they? nor do Bakewell Tarts if no-one sees me eating them Grin

gallicgirl · 31/05/2011 21:00

fairly sure rich tea are free of calories. you can tell because it rhymes with "free".

Alys does that grin when she's being obnoxious - usually when she's just thrown up on her clean clothes , grrrr.

FlubbaBubba · 31/05/2011 21:19

That's right gallic - as is brie, whisky and all things chocolatey :o :o [see what I did there? :o]

Should have hosed them down fuzzy that would have been easier and a lot more fun for me and DH :o

I've tried a sippy cup too, so far no joy with that either, but I'll just keep trying from time to time

travispickles · 31/05/2011 21:19

Is that the grin when she pulls on my nipple and looks up at me with a wicked gleam in the eye? And this is but the start of it I suspect...

FlubbaBubba · 31/05/2011 21:55

lol yes travis - you've hit the nail on the head there! L also grins when he poos himself just after he's been given a clean nappy. Nothing but naughty these littl'uns!

RunningKatie · 31/05/2011 22:11

Went to try on wedding dresses today, DD decided to fill her nappy in the most indiscreet way within 5 mins of us getting into the changing room. Blush

Stupid question time (always are with me!) but I'm planning on stopping bf at the end of July, and getting married beginning of November. Are my ginormous bf boobs likely to deflate at all? I used to fit in a size 12 dress, I couldn't get them into a 16 today. Shock

FloraPost · 31/05/2011 22:37

Good question Running. I wondered, rather vainly, whether spaniel's ears can be avoided when I stop expressing. All my maternity and nursing bras were underwired so fingers crossed.

Glad to hear the bowl of banoffee ice cream I just scoffed isn't going straight to my lardy arse.

FloraPost · 31/05/2011 22:43

Thank you all for the nice messages btw Smile.

Fuzzywood · 31/05/2011 22:48

Just a shame wine and beer don't rhyme with free.... Grin
Right off to bed, DH away with work again so hoping for a quiet night. Still at least if either of them wake up there's plenty of room in the bed to put them in.

naturalbaby · 01/06/2011 20:46

Hiya, I've been a bit slow off the mark and bad with keeping up with threads but hoping to join in?
I've got 3 boys at home with me all day every day. ds1 was 3 a few weeks ago and starts nursery in September, ds2 is nearly 2 (going on 22).
i was very baby led with ds1, more baby led with ds2 (blw, early potty training) but am now doing Gina Ford which has been going brilliantly till last week when the growth spurt started! last night i stupidly stayed up too late then got 2hrs sleep before the on/off all night waking/grizzling started.

FlubbaBubba · 01/06/2011 21:08

welcome naturalbaby - there are a couple of us with 3 LOs, though yours are the closest in age I think - my eldest just turned 4, and another with two babies and the rest have one or new twins.

Poor L hasn't enjoyed his last set of jabs, with a temp, but got him weighed today and he's over 16lbs now, so still putting on weight, but very much falling down the centiles - just under the 75th now. HV perfectly happy with it though, especially as he started so stupidly big and is still just being BF.

Off on a boat trip down the Thames tomorrow, all things being well :)

Right, The Apprentice. Catch up with you all later.

Fuzzywood · 01/06/2011 22:23

Hi and welcome Natural, 2 little ones for me, DD will be 3 in August and our little guy (Evan) is 4 months now. I wasn't really ever considering 3 DCs and after today I'm even more convinced Smile. DD knows just which buttons to push!
Hey ho, having a few beers now and DH is back tonight thankfully.
Was thinking about Cupcakes today and realised we're quite a few MIA, anyone heard from Crytsy or Rock and haven't seem Pootle for ages. Hope you're all ok if you're out there Smile

RunningKatie · 03/06/2011 20:27

I wonder if the MIA ones haven't found the new thread, I hope that they are all ok too.
DD was terribly grumpy yesterday, no proper nap all day so we were both fed up by the time it came to bedtime. Thankfully she's getting back into her sleeping pattern so bed by 10pm and only one wakeup. :)
Fab news today, DP got one of the jobs following the downsizing at work, so relieved.

FlubbaBubba · 03/06/2011 20:46

Yay for your DH's job running

Ooh yes, we had a grumpster yesterday too, and were on a boat from Kew to Hampton Court when he decided to scream the place down just at a lovely calm bit of the journey Blush >>whisper

LadyBuzz · 03/06/2011 23:01

bubba yes i seem to be losing hair rapidly but I have enough for about 4 people so its maybe a good thing Confused

Welcome Natural I too have 3 DCs 2 DSs and 1 DD.

Kali is not liking this hot weather and is another grumpster today, I think she has teeth coming too she is dribbling pints!
Shes got this rolling malarkey cracked now though and can manage both ways most of the time Grin

Both rock and Cupcakes are about on FB every now and again, they seem to be ok!
Come back ladies!
