Hello ladies, hope you found your way over here okay!

Our little newborns are newborns no more! :( :)

Hopefully a while yet before teething and weaning starts, but there's definitely a lot of wiggling and squealing going on already :o

I hate not earning my own money - part of the reason I'm now trying to make and sell my crafts, even if only to have a bit of pocket money I can really call my own. Lucky I don't enjoy clothes shopping :D

Fuzzywood · 25/05/2012 08:32

I think it's going to be the hardest thing to come to terms with. I'm thinking of setting up some sort of shop in eBay, maybe doing some crafts or trying to source something to make a bit of money. It's all a bit hazy as to what but I'll have plenty of time to work it out. Think my shoe shopping will have to be curtailed somewhat. Sad
Don't know what you mean Bubba Hmm Hmm Smile Smile Grin Thanks Grin

We've been to amazingly sunny Wales, Iz has had a wonderful time with Daddy's unlimited attention, she's been bumshuffling up and down the beach all week bless her.

I've found it really hard to adjust to not earning my own money, I had some savings which I used to buy a more reliable car and the rest is ring-fenced for anything to do with the new house. Then DH pays an agreed amount into my account every month and I spend that on all of Iz's activities, gym, household bills etc. He's very good at ensuring I've got enough and I don't fret but I still want to earn a bit myself so once the little munchkin arrives and we've moved I'll have a ponder about what to do.

I do think we need to have a chat about savings though, I'm worried about Uni fees and Iz is only 15 months old!

Hi JJKM, I'm doing ok. Thankfully I've only got 3 weeks left in work and there are 2 public holidays next week so that's just 11 days yipee!
We're having a bit of an issue with Evan and his sleeping to put it mildly. He takes forever to settle down which is really difficult when I'm quite often here on my own at bedtime. I'm having to resort to sitting DD in front of the TV while I settle him down. Plus he's waking up loads and will only go back to sleep for any length of time if one of us is sleeping on the floor next to him. His room is the smallest in the house so the only thing that fits next to his cot is the play mat, it's really not comfy .
If anyone has any suggestions about how to get him to settle and stay asleep I'd be most grateful . To be fair to the little sod him, he's been poorly again, he currently has a chest infection and ear infection so back on anti B's. At least in a few weeks I can sleep on the floor, DH can get some sleep and I could maybe catch up on some sleep in the day .

Sounds like the girls are developing brilliantly JJKM. Ev is a climber, must be all the bananas he eats, half boy, half monkey! Not surprised you're finding work stressful with everything else on your plate. Hope things improve soon. Have a (((hug)))

RunningKatie · 30/05/2012 20:56

+1 on the babies not going to sleep. DH is away too so I'm on bedtime duty, we really need to get this sussed before October as I can't be sitting with DD for hours and juggling a newborn. It seems to have started when the clocks changed.

Hope Ev is feeling better again soon Fuzzy.

Sounds great progress with the girls jjkm - any chance of you having a break from work soon? We've got a long weekend coming up thanks to the Queen's jubilee.

Got the 20 week scan next week, not finding out what we're having although I think we're both a bit tempted

Fuzzywood · 08/06/2012 08:44

thought we'd had a breakthrough with the sleeping, apparently not! I spent the hours between 4 and 7 on the floor, deep joy.
How's everyone? Have you had your scan Running.
DH in a right mood due to the crap weather so the Fuzzy house is full of light and happiness this morning Hmm
Anyway it can only therefore improve Grin.
Off to look for school uniform for DD this morning, where did my baby go

RunningKatie · 10/06/2012 19:39

Oh Fuzzy, I feel your pain, any progress with the sleeping? We were on our kneeds yesterday and the lovely PIL's have taken Iz for the day today so we could catch up on sleep pack the house up.

We've just bought her her first pair of shoes, size 2's! She hates them with a passion, poor love, nasty mummy keeps making her wear them as well.

We had the 20 week scan on Thursday, baby was hiding in my pelvis, so they had to tilt the bed, to make them move, by tipping me upside down. As I was already on the edge of puking it wasn't good!

Fuzzywood · 10/06/2012 20:01

Naughty mini Running, that doesn't sound like much fun for you.
we had a much better night last night, only a couple of wake ups and fairly easy to settle back down. It has just taken me an hour to get the little git darling to go to sleep. We're trying the put him down say goodnight then just sit in his room without any noise or eye contact until he drops off. The time was reducing until this evening but at least he's not getting really upset like he was if we left him.
When's moving day Running, just the thought of having to pack up our house would put me off moving Grin.
Right I'm off for a large glass of Wine, what with the birthday party today for one of DD's friends and the mammoth settling to bed I think I deserve it!

naturalbaby · 10/06/2012 23:26

Hi all, I'm still around with my 3 DC's keeping me busy. I've had a quick skim though your news - how exciting to have a little bump running! I've just been making my self v.broody and jealous over Facebook announcements and reminding myself how great it is to have our bedroom back, my boobies back to myself and a baby who can walk!

My oldest just turned 4 so life is getting a bit easier but.... my baby B is now a fully fledged tantruming toddler. This week he's stopped tantruming to eat my pizza and drink my milkshakes, and has learnt how to point and say 'huh uh uhhh!!'.

flubba · 11/06/2012 08:05

hi all. fuzzy sorry that Ev is still not sleeping well. Did he not read the manual on arrival? L sleeps well through the night, but is still waking stupidly early - but DH did the shift this morning as we take it in turns, and the day only just started with a 5 :(
DD2 is being a Threenager with a passion atm - she is so contrary, it makes life hard, hard, hard.

Both these phases WILL pass. They will, they will, they will, they will!

Fuzzywood · 13/06/2012 20:26

Nope he didn't read my manual anyway! Without wanting to jinx it, last night wasn't so bad, 3 wake ups, one solved by milk the others by a bit of sssshhing and patting but then he was up for the day at 5.15. On who's planet is 5.15 an acceptable time to be up?!? Do you reckon L and Ev have been conspiring again Grin
Oh I have a contrary, immensly (sp?) opiniated and strong willed young lady too, can't imagine where she gets such character traits from Confused

flubba · 13/06/2012 22:42

We should never have bought them mobiles Fuzzy :o

flubba · 14/06/2012 21:03

Sorry, but strong willied made me laugh lots :o :o

I've found that initial ignoring and then disctracting is the best way to get L out of his tanrums.

Fuzzywood · 14/06/2012 23:05

Grin Grin strong willied, excellent typo JJKM.

Nearly all teeth here too, better for sleeping, not so good when biting mummy! Oh I do enjoy the biting stage Hmm. Fortunately he's only bitten me so far.
Ignore ignore ignore and distract for tantrums. Note to self laughing at him probably not so helpful Wink.
Night times seem to be getting better

RunningKatie · 21/06/2012 20:26

Wow, we're only on 6 teeth here still, I'm not sure whether to be envious of the fully-teethed or not.

How's the sleep Fuzzy? Iz is still awake now I suspect although DH is up with her and I'm procrastinating down here, I really need to go and get some papers from upstairs but I don't want to disturb the sleep-meister at work!

We've had a triumph in the wee collection department, not sure if I said but the ongoing saga of her being failure to thrive, kidney issues, heart issues, high blood pressure has now evolved and she's now being checked for a low level of hormone. the whole sorry saga is doing my head in Anyhoo, we had to collect a wee sample but we've been failing as she has a habit of poo'ing in the sample bags! So, DH hit on the brainwave of making her stand in a washing up bowl (clean of course!) whilst running the bath to see if she'd wee then. I managed to collect a whole 2.5ml which has been carried triumphantly to the hospital, I only hope it's enough.

Fuzzywood · 22/06/2012 12:29

I'm now officially a stay at home mum, last day yesterday. I feel a but weird and disconcerted about it at the moment. We're off to Cornwall for a week tomorrow so hoping I'll have got over myself by the time we get back Grin.

I hope they can get you some definite answers now Running.

Right off to pack wellies, waterproofs, umbrellas and maybe a life boat for our holiday Grin

Hi ladies, just popping in to let you know I'm doing a give away on my blog - with a personalised bunting. Made me think of you as they're very popular for decorating kids' bedrooms...

Hope you're all well and surviving the tantrums? L is a very determined 17m old, knows his own mind and lets us all know, VERY LOUDLY, if what we're going is Not What He Had In Mind!! :o (hoping, without wishing you a feisty toddler, that I'm not alone in this?!) :)

RunningKatie · 01/07/2012 20:20

Haha Flubba, I think Iz is in training for tantrums - we had the full out-stretched body lying on the floor in John Lewis today. We were looking at double buggies and there was no way she was going to try it out for Mummy.

JJKM - she weights 21lbs now, she's definitely the titch of the NCT group but can hold her own in toy fights possibly a little too well at times

How was the holiday Fuzzy? Did you have a great time? Hope you got some reasonable weather.

It looks like the house move will be happening soon, I'm swinging between excitment about our first family house and terror that I need to do things like buy carpets. Then after the move it's time for another baby and that is a very scary thought!

Fuzzywood · 06/07/2012 12:25

Hey, holiday was good thanks, wet but good. Apart from a trip to Truro hospital with Ev for his breathing, viral wheeze diagnosed this time . on a positive note it means more research for the book 'Hospitals I've Visited On Holiday' Grin. He's all better now and great and tantrums! We get the whole foot stamping too, it's all I can do to not laugh at him.
He's a complete little sod with DD sometimes though, he grabbed her headband off her head and snapped it. He got put in the naughty corner for that one. Didn't have any effect Hmm.
DD had her settling in session at school on Tues, where did the time go, she was a baby 5 minutes ago .
Running if it helps DD did the exact same thing when I tried to get her to sit in a double buggy in Mothercare 18 months ago. Which one you going for? We got a Silvercross pop sport duo for £95 on eBay (after trying it out in the shop).
Bubba will check out the blog later. Thinking of re-doing DD's room now I have the time.
