Morning girls, am v happy today as Cass slept 7 til 5 30, feed then back down til 7 30! Amaze!!
ponyo good luck with jabs, Cass did cry but was fine after 5 mins, these were better than first ones. Btw I know what you mean about the job situation, there's nothing is there? I know a few public sector people who jave also been made redundant, scary times.
I've just looked at all the latest pics, my my we have gorgeous children on this thread!
Off to do school run then to baby group with Cass pants...

ILovePonyo · 11/05/2011 09:00

Morning you talkative lot,

dd woke up at 4.30 am and was off and on til I got up with her 6.30, oh well could be worse eh. She's now flat out on her back, arms over her head doing cute smiles in her sleep :)

Thanks MizK, glad C was ok with her jabs and hope she enjoys baby group!

byroni I was desperatly googling 3month sleep regression when dd was fussing going to bed the other night, and all that kept coming up was 4 month sleep reg Shock It is unrealistic to hope it passes by all of us on this thread? I think not Wink Oh and get dropping those hints now I reckon :)

Lovely lovely pics hubbard, am going to try and put some more of dd up soon to join in Grin

ILovePonyo · 11/05/2011 09:13

Put a new pic of dd up :)

ILovePonyo · 11/05/2011 09:25

Dont know what happened with those italics Hmm

canoe · 11/05/2011 09:53

Morning, thanks everyone who answered my many questions about weaning and finger sucking. Good to know others are doing the same finger sucking, also good to hear HV opinion. I know a lot of ppl don't like HV, but we don't get them here (Botswana). When we got discharged from hosp it was a whole month before L's first appt with the paediatrician! Fortunatly one of our neighbours is a doctor so she came round to have a quick check up after a week.

So if anyone has any pearls of wisdom from their HV, or other general tips pls pass them on, feeling a bit alone here!

Thanks all

wigglesrock · 11/05/2011 11:18

canoe fire ahead with any questions, I'm sure we'll all pass on any tips, my mum and dad moved to Zambia when I was 14 months old and my sister was born over there. This was over 30 years ago and she found it really tough, no family, no t'internet, skype, no actual phone lines. We stayed for almost 4 years.

Anna is slightly less grumpy this morning, she had a good night and has been a bit of a hungry bunny, I have her parked by the washing machine, while it is on, trying to get her over to sleep Blush

Hubbard gorgeous photos, Ponyo Such a lovely photo, lovely hair Grin

I sat Anna on my tummy yesterday while I was lying down, (at least she had something comfy and bouncy to sit on!!) and pretended to do loud comedy sneezes, she giggled and laughed so much she almost bounced right off Grin If you let her hold your fingers she is also almost giving herself a hernia trying to pull herself up.

TadJenny I think it was you who mentioned that Samuel was getting too long for his 3-6 month babygros, I put Anna in a 3-6 month old pinafore thing today, it's just skimming her thighs Shock, but I can't put her in trousers unless they are leggings because they just fall straight off her waist.

Bensmum76 · 11/05/2011 12:59

Hi all
Just had Noah weighed and am shocked that he is 14lb, 14oz! He's such a fatty. I asked the hv about leaving him to cry at night sometimes as I was up five times last night! She said it's ok for ad long as I feel comfortable, but not to do controlled crying, and pick him up to calm him down.
I've put him in his cot for a nap now with dummy and muslin, he snuggled right into the muslin, it was very sweet. Fingers crossed he stays asleep. I believe that if he can sleep in his cot for naps he'll learn to settle himself at night without me having to intervene!
Hope your all ok. I've skim read all the posts, and can't believe we're on page 15 already!

debka · 11/05/2011 13:21

Hi all!

Quick question- any babies sick a lot??

Imy was never sick, S is sick after almost every feed and sometimes quite a lot. How much is normal? And when do they grow out of it? (sick of changing babygrows).

angels it's going to take a while to get used to your name.... been trying to figure out what your RL name must be!

OP posts:
wigglesrock · 11/05/2011 13:40

Debka Are you basking in the success of your busy thread Grin? Anna isn't sicky at all, dd1 was a bit sicky but dd2 was sicky quite a lot, I think I would have changed babygros once, maybe twice a day and deffo remember having to change moses baskets sheets a lot, this was before it occured to me to put a muslin cloth down on top of the sheet Blush. It definitely got better around 4-5 months.

Actually the more I think about it dd2 (clue, dd2 has the most popular name in the whole entire world accordiing to stats and according to MN those who use it have no imagination Grin) would have been sick after most feeds, am having flashbacks to scrubbing sick off sofas in the middle of the night, whilst trying to change her and me.

Bensmum think I'm going to take A to get weighed next week, she's changing every day, am trying to get photos framed, organised and she is completely unrecognisable from photos of her at my sisters wedding and that was only 6 weeks ago!!!

ElleB1980 · 11/05/2011 14:28

debka Another non-sicky baby here I'm afraid. Is it wind sicky or random sicky? Not that I can help either way but I guess I'd be less worried if it was windy sick after a feed.

Bensmum I'm pretty sure R is well over 14lb now. DP carried her around on a nursery visit yesterday and did nothing but whinge about how much his arms ached afterwards!

Just back from Baby Sensory which was very cute. R seems to be mainly interested in the other babies but she does tend to nap afterwards so it's worth the money! She was up at 6am shouting happily so I gave her a quick cuddle and popped her in with us...she grinned for a while and went back to sleep until 8:45!!!

Need to pack for our little holiday later....my list has about 5 things on it and R's is as long as my arm!

ledkr · 11/05/2011 15:07

deb is it reflux? My ds1 used to be so sick that i caught it in a bowl, they werent worried tho cos he was a fatty.
hubbard Blush yummy mummy indeed,my ds's say i am a gilf-how bloody rude!!!
Dont know what Dilly weighs my hv has disappeared off the face of the earth.
She was such a pain last night didnt settle till 9.15 due to the disruption of her bedtime, but then slept until 8.30 which is no good for me cos i have to get up at 7 for Ella.
wiggles did they have skype when you were 14 months old?I dont even think they had the wheel when i was 14 mos old.
Dh has been fairly afectionate since he heard i was going out Friday, amazing!
We are going to an open mike night which will be a laugh,i can sing abit but my friend brings the house down, its great cos am going to use my old sitter cos D never wakes and Ella is here if she does and dh back at 10 from work.

Bensmum76 · 11/05/2011 15:13

Deb, I was thinking reflex too, especially if she's not putting on heaps of with. Have you spoken to your hv/doctor, can't remember if you have.
Ledkr, I've been meaning to say I love the name Dilly, it's gorgeous!

wigglesrock · 11/05/2011 15:30

Ledkr I think my mum was the first person she knew to ever use a disposable nappy Grin, we had wheels, didn't know how to use them, kept re-inventing them - boom boom!!! Have to say think gilf is funny, of course if you're offended by it then I am too, but silently having a giggle.

Hiding my face in scunderment as I hit people across the roads car whilst going out to get Sofia from school, no damage done, but I called in to tell them and just came across as really dim, think I was all over the place because Anna was in the car and the bang made quite a loud noise. Now where did I put that sneaky pack of cigs - only joking Grin Mr W is still asleep so am going to tell him the good news, he always does a slight arch of his eyebrows when I reverse out of the parking bay so this will be slightly cringey!!

Deliaskis · 11/05/2011 17:27

Afternoon ladies. Once again a week has passed since I found the time to get on here.

Lovely to read updates from everyone, time seems to be going both slowly and quickly in different ways. Slowly as in each day seems slow and I confess I am impatient for the next bit (proper sitting up, weaning, crawling etc.), but quick as in it's hard to believe some of us are almost approaching those milestones already, especially those who are now closer to 4 months than 3.

C is getting more fun to be with. She does lots of smiling and giggling, and 'chats' to anyone and everyone, which is v cute. Reflux meds are helping I think so less pain & distress, which is good for us all. More wind though, but that's easier to manage I think. Feeding still has its ups and downs but sleep is generally good. Her meds seem to have given her very grown up looking poos, which look weird but make for very clean & easy nappy changing.

MIL is still insisting on dressing her in hideous victorian style frilly baby clothes and I am just biting my tongue as I know it's just her way, but I HATE them!!

Starting baby massage and baby swim next week so looking forward to that. On the flip side I've been into work today and will be starting 'keeping in touch' days in mid-July, for a return at 6 months (end of Aug roughly). Feels weird thinking about going back, almost like this bit of parenting will be over, and I will have to adjust to the 'drop-off, pick-up' type of thing, which will be different again with its own challenges.

Hope you all have a good evening and night!

D

reastie · 11/05/2011 18:49

angels here (incase you forgot name change)

elle was it you who went to baby sensory ? I'm doing that later this week. What was it like? DO you think your LO got much from it? Not really sure if Alice is too little still.

All the oldies on here I'm suprised you can operate a computer. Grin Grin Wink

delia good to hear from you as always

love all the piccies coming up on here :)

must dash, but back later hopefully

janedoe25 · 11/05/2011 19:23

delia glad to hear that the reflux problem is under control.

Hi angels reastie Loving the name change, although it did confuse the hell out of me!

Hope everyone had a good day, and babie's were ok with injections.

ElleB1980 · 11/05/2011 19:55

reastie (am still trying to figure out what your rl name is!) Yep, I've been going to Baby Sensory since R was about 8 weeks. I think she quite likes it - it changes every week, there was even a Royal Wedding themed week) but they do the same songs at the start and end which she now listens and watches intently. I think she mainly likes the other babies, although today she loved shaking a maraca but that may have been the novelty of her daddy being with us. It's quite expensive but it's a good way to meet other mums and that's invaluable I reckon!

delia Good luck with the back to work stuff. I'm going in to meet my manager next week...I'm angling for a better job when I go back otherwise there's no way I'm doing full time. I ideally want 4 days so will have to see. It's all coming round so quickly!

ILovePonyo · 11/05/2011 20:01

Hi all, just a quick one from me -

dd had her injections, she cried then screamed bless her, but I didn't cry this time which I'm proud of! Grin Sh'e been a bit grumpy all evening and slept on me for ages, now asleep on dp so not sure how she'll do at bedtime...

Might head to baby massage in surestart tomo, they do it in the sensory room so even if she doesn't like the massage she might like having a look around.

wiggles dp knocked the wingmirror off someones car in sainsb's carpark on sunday, the lady whos car it is was lovely tho bless her.

delia glad you and C are well and the reflux is better, Hmm at frilly baby clothes Grin

I am planning on returning lots of denim we have been given for dd soon :)

BAck later hopefully, if not heres to a good nights sleep xx

wigglesrock · 11/05/2011 20:33

Lovely to hear from you Deliaskis, am planning on taking Anna swimming next week, although need to try and organise it so that dd1 is still at school and dd2 is at playgroup, which gives me about an hour, dd1 goes to school 9.00am-2.00pm and dd2 goes to playgroup 12.45 - 3.15pm!! Don't fancy taking dd2 and Anna to pool together. Our local swimming pool does Parent and pre-school mornings in the fun pool so its really nice and there's lots of other babies and mums there.

ponyo Anna seems to have been much better with the injections this time, just that screaming for the hour yesterday but today has been great. The neighbours were brillant about the car and Mr W can fix ours himself, he thinks Grin

reastie · 11/05/2011 20:53

hehe, shall I give a chocolate bar to anyone who can guess my real name?! Grin . The r is what my first name begins with and the eastie is a play on my surname - quite a boring ID really but all the groovy ones I came up with were already taken Angry

am debating emailing SIL re: MIL issues but scared incase she thinks MIL is fab and it gets back to MIL I've been rude about her....but, I'm pretty sure (as sure as I can guess) they have had issues. Don't really know how to word it so I don't come across as bad and it won't be held against me by MIL if ever she sees it Hmm

wiggles glad the neighbours were good about the car. I can't wait to take alice swimming but am waiting for second set of jabs and to be brave enough to dust of an XL swimming cossie Blush

apprentice again tonight Grin

reastie · 11/05/2011 20:58

oh, and elle the first baby sensory this week is free Grin so I'll see whether it's worth paying for or not. I'm hoping Alice won't be overwhelmed as often when she has lots of things to take in she gets shattered after very short time.

Ohhh - forgot to say - we have tons of baby einstein dvds given to us from someone (anyone heard of those? I hadn't) and shoved put alice in front of the tv with one on and she LOVED it - was sitting in her bouncy chair for an hour and a half solid watching it so intently and grinning and talking to the TV (usually she never manages longer than half an hour in that chair before getting bored). I felt a bit bad mother for shoving her in front of the tv but it's an educational dvd don't you know Wink

debka · 11/05/2011 21:09

reastie no can't do it angels, we have some of those dvds and Imy still asks for them sometimes!

I had thought about reflux, but aren't babies with reflux meant to be unhappy and crying and uncomfortable? S is the happiest baby ever. She is sick fairly randomly, sometimes straight after a feed, sometimes on and off for an hour or so afterwards. Sometimes it's seemingly masses of watery stuff, normally thick curdled milk (yuk).

Jabs again tomorrow, boooo.

Just finished a marathon cake decorating session- had to do one for my sister and then a dozen strawberry cupcakes for my mum. They all look brill Grin

angels are you a Rachel? No prizes for guessing MY name! Grin (I always think it's really obvious from my username- it's a nickname I was given in Russia).

OP posts:
reastie · 11/05/2011 21:19

nom nom nom to debkas cakes (and slightly Envy - I haven't got around to cake decorating since pre preg Sad )

not rachel Wink

whenever I see debka written I think of ulrika-ka-ka in the style of shooting stars only debka-ka-ka Wink Grin

tadjennyp · 11/05/2011 21:23

I was thinking Rachel West! Grin Deborah? Grin

Hoping all babies get over their injections quickly. They run on different schedules here so S doesn't get his second lot till he's 4 months old. And he fed 13 times yesterday and had a bottle of EBM while I went out! He's such a chunk.

wigglesrock · 11/05/2011 21:26

See reastie that's the beauty of the parent and toddler mornings in my pool, everyone looks a bit less than perfect. Apart from some of the women, but rumour has it they're nannies, at least that what we keep telling ourselves, no-one could look that good with a ten week old Envy

I couldn't get Anna settled last week, so put her in her pram and got dd1 to push her around the living room, ignoring baby crying and using a 5 year old as an unpaid baby walker, now thats bad mothering Grin

I remember with Sofia, no baby of mine was going to watch tv etc, and to be honest she didn't, then along came dd2 and CBeebies came into my life and has never left, I would cheerfully pay double the license fee for Justin, Chris, Sid and of course Andy making my life that little bit easier.

Debka Sabine sounds like an absolute dote.
