Hello! It's me. I thought I'd start a thread which is VERY cheeky for someone who's not been around for AGES! Grin

Pistachio - S is exactly the same - give him a group of older children and they'll run around playing pirates or whatever but when they're his age it's very much parallel play most of the time.

I've sent him off to nursery this morning so I can get some studying done. I was quite glad to pass the potty training responsibility onto someone else actually and it'll be interesting to see how he gets on. I'm worried that I'm stressing him out by constantly interrupting what he's doing to get him sit on the potty. We've had a busy weekend with loads of other children around and he just didn't want to stop so consequenly a few accidents. If he could run around with nothing on his bottom half all day he'd be fine as he's really reliable then. The minute he's got any clothes on, he just seems to forget. He did say he needed a wee a couple of times and it was a false alarm. Is this pretty normal or would you say he's not ready yet?

HP - Sorry to hear you're still waiting on the house thing. I've never really understood why solicitors are so resisitant to the whole Email thing. If it was me, I think I'd be on the phone to them every day or so, so they get sick of you and sort you out quickly.

HavePatience · 01/08/2011 22:06

My fb status says it all. I love that Q is curious and inquisitive and at first I thought it was really cute but now it's just All of The Time! About everything!

HavePatience · 01/08/2011 22:28

Cf that sounds like Q when we started. I hope nursery can sort it for you Grin

Where is cake? I liked her. Now she's gone.

Coconutfeet · 02/08/2011 09:54

Thanks HP. Nursery were fantastic. I fully expected them to call me and ask for more spare clothes but there was only one accident and that was because his key worker got really excited when he did a wee which made him jump up and spray everywhere. Smile

I bloody LOVE S's nursery, the staff are brilliant and they do so much lovely stuff. The children are cooking their own tea this week - S made lentil dahl and chapattis yesterday and will be helping with a stir fry today!

CSWS - Have you gone away already?

CantSleepWontSleep · 02/08/2011 20:26

Not yet cf - we go on Friday. It has wifi and I'll be taking my ipad, so I won't be disappearing altogether even when we are there.

Very frustrating on the move front star. I would def ring and have a moan.

HavePatience · 02/08/2011 20:37

Cf nursery sounds great! I hope ours is good... I am SO anxious!!!

Apparently all enquiries have been dealt with on our sale now Grin however, waiting to see that they buyer and his solicitor agree and will sign the contract. He's had an electrical and energy specialist in today looking at the boiler as it's close to a window... It was installed before we moved in and by HeatTeam! Arghhh.

I've stated today that a move must happen prior to when the kids at my school start back because I cannot leave young children with another teacher for a whole day that early in the year and dh won't be able to get days off for a move once he starts for first few weeks, either. We have been off work and home for AGES now and trying to get this all done. We've done everything as soon as requested and gone to solicitors office to hand in person so no excuse!

Coconutfeet · 02/08/2011 21:33

The nursery is great HP. S has been chosen to go on a trip tomorrow to the Museum of Childhood and I was really pleased because it would have been so easy for them to chose another child instead as it's going to be a bit of a pain for them with the toilet thing, especially as they're going on the tube.

HP I can't remember if you said before but are your buyers first time buyers? They sound very cautious. I really hope you can pull it all together before you get back to work. Is it time to start issuing an ultimatum or would you be too nervous in case it all backfired?

HavePatience · 02/08/2011 22:07

I would be too nervous. Yes, he's a first time buyer but with loads of parent support. I think it's his parents, tbh

Does that happen a lot at nurseries? Where they go on trips and only choose some children to go?? Sad I'm glad that S gets to go. Just another factor on my list of anxieties!

Purpleprickles · 03/08/2011 08:26

CF glad S had a good day at Nursery being nappy free. I feel the same love for J's nursery and feel so lucky to have a place for him there. J moves to the pre-school room in Sept. Feel really sad because he is just growing so fast and also I loved the staff in his current room. Fingers crossed he'll still be as happy with the next group of staff.

I made cake pops last night and they worked. My wonderful clever friend who makes chocolate came over and gave me tips on dipping. They look very cute if a little bit garish in colours. I'll put a pic on fb later. I'm so proud Blush

We have the builders here at the moment as we're having the porch replaced. The plan was they would rebuild on existing foundations but once everything was knocked down they discovered there were no foundations. So more money and time, it's all ok but wouldn't it be refreshing if building/anything to do with homes just went to plan once in a while?!

HP GrinGrin to Q and his questions. We aren't at that intense questioning stage yet. It's just non-stop chatter here. I'm so proud of Jack's speech but just five mins of quiet would be appreciated sometimes Grin

CSWS have a fab holiday! Rain predicted for France next week bloody typical Sad

Coconutfeet · 03/08/2011 09:55

La, la la! I'm sure it's going to be gloriously hot and sunny in France next week!

Well done on the cake pops! They sound just like the sort of thing that I could get into. No time at the moment unfortunately as I've got an essay to write.

Good luck with the building work. I always find things like that really stressful. Dp likes the idea of doing a self-build but I don't think my nerves could stand it.

I don't think they do it very often HP. I'm not exactly sure what the rationale was this time as normally they go in a group to the park or post office or whatever. I don't see it as a major issue to be honest as I trust them to make sure any treats like that are shared out fairly between the children. We sometime have to do it at school when there's only limited funding for, say, 8 children to work on a particular project. We make sure it's not always the same children who get chosen and also that those left behind do something fun.

I would definitely get on the phone and get a firm date from them for the move now if it's just a case of signing things off. It must be driving you up the wall.

KSal · 03/08/2011 09:56

Emma is moving up to the pre-school at the start of September too. I feel a bit emotional about it all, really. She's been with her keyworker since the ages of 5 months, she'll be leaving Orin behind.... However, having said that I think me and the keyworker are more sad about it than Emma.... I think the keyworker is pleased to have Orin to take her mind off it a bit.

Actually the keyworker is fab... I hope she never leaves. She did say that when she found out I was pregnant again she was going to ask to become our nanny, but didn't because I enrolled Orin at the nursery anyway... makes me worry that she might decide to do that at some stage for someone else though.

we built a little playhouse for E&O at the weekend, its very cute. I painted it some nice colours and spent last night painting the inside. needs another a coat. It needs some (very small) furniture now...

am not enjoying this humidity much - it was 27 in Orin's room last night

ronshar · 04/08/2011 09:50

Morning ladiesSmile

I have been awol for a bit as life just got too busy and lots of stuff got missed and neglected. Now we are in the school hols I can relax a bit.

HP I can't believe you still haven't movedShock

Purple. Nice cake thingys. I loved your pic on FB.

Pepper. Have you had enough of the builders already? I spoke to a friend yesterday who has had the builders in her house since November. They might be finished tomorrow! How is your hand?

Ekka, how long until we have another little baby to envy? I bet you are not enjoying this heat!

Pistachio. Your number three is gorgeous. I have been keeping up with her on FB.

CF. It's always great when you love the nursery you have picked. So far we have been very lucky with our nursery choices. I love that they let S help to cook his tea. Have fun with your essay. It is nice to engage your brain in something other than children.

CSWS have a nice holiday with 50ft. It is pouring with rain down this way at the moment but it should be nice again for the weekend.

Cakes. Looks like you had a lovely holiday. Great pics.

ronshar · 04/08/2011 09:52

I knew I missed someone.
Ksal. Be careful you are entering the world of, my baby is growing up, I love having a baby and then before you know it you will think it is a good idea to have another babyGrin.

HavePatience · 04/08/2011 18:31

Hi ronshar! I missed you

HavePatience · 04/08/2011 21:15

Oh pistachio, I was just thinking about you and wondering how you are doing, and how good it was that you are staving off PND this time. Hope you are OK

I was also thinking that I have been a bit happier this time around with Orin than I was with Emma and I decided that its because I know I'm not doing it again.... did you hear that ronshar NOT DOING IT AGAIN :D

fingers crossed you get a date soon star - then you can be excited about it rather than stressed and worried. (I realise that is wildy optimistic given how stressful moving is, but hey ho...)

I also wondering how long it will take my boobs to go back to normal post baby? they did last time... please say that they will this time too. I really hate having to pour them into my bra and worrying about them falling out of my swimming cossie every sunday sorry if TMI.

Purpleprickles · 05/08/2011 22:07

Just flying in to wave bye bye. Off to France tomo. Am slightly tipsy on red wine. Been a long day and packing stresses me out so really it's medicinal. Have a good week everyone. Hope you get a moving date HP by the time I'm back and CF weather forecast for France has changed for the better. Whoop whoop Grin

pepperrabbit · 06/08/2011 22:08

Very jealous of everyone on holiday Envy and I hope the weather for all of you is glorious Smile.
Builders been here all week, completely demolished the garage/utility room/downstairs loo in about 10 minutes hours, now we have diggers, rubble, trenches/moats, and thankfully the security fencing turned up on Friday so the DCs can't damage themselves.
star, any progress???? have you started packing hopefully or are you going to wait till it's all definite?
pistachio - sorry it's been a bit grim. You must be on the home run to term starting again? Light at the end of the tunnel kind of thing? We have another 4 weeks to go Hmm. Just don't aim to achieve anything on any timescale is my only tip andtake one day at a time.
ronshar!! lovely to see you again.
Ksal -can't help you with your boobs! never had much norkage here Sad
DD is lovely at the mo, after an atrocious first week potty training where we tried to put her back in nappies as she was so distressed all the time Sad she wouldn't go even in a nappy, meaning she got even more distressed. Poor little thing was beside herself, all day, for 3 and half days. it was very grim indeed. then she suddenly did the hugest wee EVER, thankfully in a potty and I think she felt so much better, that she decided that was the only way forward. She's not had a single accident since then - not even got damp, The girl has a bladder of iron! I threw away loads of foul pants with the boys Confused, she doesn't even need a dry pair halfway through the day. Costing me a fortune in chocolate buttons as rewards Hmm
DH is watching an old James Bond, i don't find them quite as gripping, hence the long post!

Coconutfeet · 08/08/2011 13:27

Sorry to hear that Pistachio. Very hard. Sad

Pepper - Well done to your dd! S is still a bit hit and miss but I've refused to let it stop us do things which is partly why I suppose. He just doesn't want to stop what he's doing to have a pee. Thanks to everyone who recommended the potette though. It's been a godsend.

S and I were in Littlehampton for a couple of days last week with a friend and her 3 boys. The kids loved it. We were on the beach by 8.30 in the morning and they just ran wild.

Ksal - re the boobs. I found that it took a couple of months after I stopped BFing and they started to shrink a bit. They've never gone back to how they were before though, and only yesterday I was pondering what to do with some of the lovely posh bras I've got tucked in the back of the wardrobe that are sadly too small.

Have you got a date yet HP?

Hello to everyone else.

HavePatience · 08/08/2011 23:39

I'm really scared about these riots. I know they are not far from us now Sad
Our local shopping area - only 5 min drive down the road. They wouldn't attack residential areas, would they? This is crazy. What are they thinking?

Coconutfeet · 09/08/2011 09:35

It's awful isn't it HP. I've just driven S to nursery and, thankfully there's only a bit of damage. Apparently in that area, which is a very busy shopping area full of Asian independent shops, the men stayed up all night guarding their shops with baseball bats. It seems to have worked as they frightened the looters off. But how awful. Same thing was happening in Dalston as well apparently. We've been told to collect early from nursery in case it all kicks off again and they were supposed to go on a trip tomorrow which is obviously cancelled.

We've sadly created a horrible society where people have become greedy and materialistic and feel like they have nothing to lose. I'm very glad I'm leaving the country this weekend.

HavePatience · 09/08/2011 09:53
Sad I truly had no idea there were THAT many people who were so selfish. Incredible.
