cakes whats the new book?

viksam · 28/02/2011 21:23

Hello,
Just a quick one from me as i NEED to go to bed. Went to the HV drop in today. weight is good and got soe free samples of creams for his dry skin so thts cool. The HV suggested i try and show him his thumb for sucking rather than a dummy, interesting. Also she asked me if i thought he was having enough to eat in the day.........i have to be honest, because he hasnt dropped any milk feeds i havent really considerd if he is having enough solids. So he was fit to burst after his tea, i just lept feeding him! he had a whole pouch, a fruit pot,a yogurt and 2 small rice cakes. thats loads for him. so we'll see what sort of night we have. Good luck everyone xxx

evening!! i thought it would be needle 1st too but i didnt want to say as i thought it would jinx me and i would end up pg 1st by accident!!!
tmi alert- my scar keeps flaring up and getting sore and swollen, should i be worried, im starting too but dont want to get my fanjo out to my docs, maybe the hv tomorrow???
couldnt get L in the doctors even though he was making a whooping sound as he coughed last night, got app after hv tomorrow, he has been so upset all day sobbing with his mouth, sucking his lips in, this thing with his cough is worrying me, not wanted to drink anything all day, but i went out for lunch and he ate over half of a bowl of mac cheese i ordered for myself, shouting as i wasnt shovelling it in quick enough!!

CakeandRoses · 28/02/2011 22:16

memphis ouch! i've no experience with fanjo scars but sounds like you ought to get it checked out. i'd wait til you were off your period and then see a gp as a HV isn't going to know much about scars plus might be a bit Shock at you showing her your bits Grin

stac tut tut, i;ve already given the book details Wink

it;s 99www.amazon.co.uk/Best-Friends-Girl-Dorothy-Koomson/dp/0751537071/ref=sr_1_3?ie=UTF8&qid=1298931335&sr=8-3 this one]]

(thanks for the pressure mlic Grin. it's got 4 stars on amazon so you'll probably give it a 1)

incidentally and randomly, F did a huge wee and poo in my friend's son's potty today. it was like entering a whole new world, looking on at my son's steaming heap in someone else's house Blush

Cant remember if i said but i read that book already too! hopefully the next one will be one that i wont have read! i dont get much time to read these days and i love reading so dont want to re-read any book!
Memphis no advice for you but the docs have seen it all before! make sure and get it checked.

CakeandRoses · 28/02/2011 23:42

that's understandable kk. you obv have the same taste as some of the people in my RL bookgroup as they all each choose a book at the start of the year. hopefully the rest of the them have different taste!

Anyone found anything interesting that their baby is doing well with eating-wise lately? A is like an advert for blw at the mo, she is astounding me with the amount she's managing to chomp down.

At my friend's house today, i'm sure she ate as much as F and my friend's son (not combined!) It was falafels, humous (of course), tomato, cuke, pesto new potatoes and roast carrots. She managed it all really well but particularly the potatoes, which surprised me. We don't tend to eat potatoes that much so must remember to do them for her. Oh also, the large slices of tomatoes were a hit (i usually but cherry ones which are harder for her to hold i guess)

bit of a waffle sorry, just keep to share successes in case they work with your babies.

DesperateHousewife20 · 01/03/2011 07:49

lol at steaming heap cake a very proud moment for you Grin

We were all set to have sex last night (I was even naked!) then we just fell asleep haha.
I blame Dylan, he was taking ages to get to sleep. He finally went off about 10 then went til 4 woo!

Ive got a friend coming over at 11 for lunch so in 3 hours Ive got to get washed, dressed, dylan dressed, fed, changed as needed. Then go into town and get said lunch and go to the veg shop and library.
Fingers crossed it goes to plan, Dylan will have to nap around my errands today I think!

memphis83 · 01/03/2011 08:22

cakes dont worry i wont just pull my knickers down to the hv!! she was always very keen to have a look beofre and i wouldnt show her, telling her ive had enough people look at my fanjo to last a life time!!! periods? whay are they???i havent had one of those since i fell pg and dont plan on having another for a while!! Grin congrats on the steaming heap!!! and A eating loads, going to give L more pieces of food now as lumpy slop isnt his idea of nice but likes pieces so long as im feeding him, he is so bloody lazy!
L went to bed at 7 and woke at 4.30 then fell asleep again til 7.30!!!

Chulita · 01/03/2011 08:25

mlic good on W for rocking Grin S was about 2 weeks between proper rocking and roaming around the room.

cake I've got the next book on order, should be here soon.

dh Grin hah!

S demolished a piece of toast with avocado mashed on it yesterday. He's a big eater, I just run out of ideas so quickly. He loves rice and peas too.

Our nights have gone downhill too, he was up 4 times last night, twice for an hour. L was up too so I'm shattered today, I felt physically sick when I got up this morning, just sooo tired. Going to go and get L up (alright for some) and get out cos otherwise I'll never get out of my pjs.

morning all,

Lol dh i've done that before i even had R

memphis thats a great sleep.

chulita you must be knackered, maybe the fresh air will get them in the mood for a nap

R slept 9.30 to 6am but had a few dummy runs. Would love to get rid of that thing but dont want her moving to her fingers.

How was everyone else's night?

CakeandRoses · 01/03/2011 09:04

bad night here - A was teething and/or had a tummy ache (probably just ate too much). tis annoying as i'm off to cambridge for lunch/shopping with a friend and her DD today so wanted to feel a little more alive than this.

is it just me whose head is being done in by bf their child, right now? A isn't as bothered about milk feeds in the day now, she'd go for hours and hours between feeds if i let her, then when she does have a feed, she doesn't have that much before chewing on my nipple Angry/squawking at me/blowing raspberries and thereby prompting me to end the feed. at night however, it's a whole different story, acts as tho milk is manna from heaven Hmm

i went thru the exact same thing with F and he got better between 7-8 months so i'm sticking with it but it's driving me mad

memphis sorry, it was a bit childish of me to say that re the HV Smile and i think i got cross wires about you being on at the mo Grin i just meant, ultimately you'll prob ought to show a doc anyway so you might as well just do that straightaway. can you ask for a woman gp?

keep up the crawling lessons mlic! sounds as tho they're paying off. i'm still very happy for A not to be crawling so other than putting her on her front, i leave her to it. she was really trying yesterday tho and squeaking with the effort, poor thing.

wss i got the peke moe more as a transition from the swaddling rather than to prevent scratching (which only just started as she's been able to get out of her arm swaddle). just wish i'd known about swaddling and peke moes with felix as he was a non-sleeping, eczemary thing. we used to put socks on his hands but didn't try taping them on!

oh and chulita it most decidedly is NOT a 'glorified pillow case' [offended emoticon] Grin

we weren't actually still potty training F after the sickness bug on sat so the steaming heap was totally random. i'm not actually sure when to start it properly again as i need to work up the motivation and the right time to be stuck indoors again. he's at nursery today so we've told them to ask him if he wants to use the potty but not make it full-on, no pants again just yet [total wuss emoticon]

thanks for reminding me about avocados. i love them but F doesn't and there was a time i thought they were giving A wind (via my bm) so i'd stopped buying them Sad but she was fine last time i tried them so i must remember to get some again

Oh shit shit shit, Dylan was asleep in the sling but unless Im constantly standing up and swaying he wakes up.

I needed breakfast and he bloooody woke up and Im afraid to say I shouted at him.

Im so tired and I cba today, I dont want to see my friend and make lunch and be jolly and happy, I want to go to bed and sleep all day.

CakeandRoses · 01/03/2011 10:04

dh i'd honestly just persevere with the cot and rocking if i were you. much better than for him to develop a new sling sleep habit (obv that's fine if you're into 'baby-wearing' but as you're not...)

F was sooo similar to D, it took months of me insisting he napped in his cot and spending ages patting him or whatever until it finally clicked. Once it did, he was (and is) a brilliant napper so i'm pleased i stuck with it but the first 6 months or so were awful.

the fact i can now put both of them down for a nap in 5 mins is unbelievable when i compare to the 30 - 45 mins+ i used to spend just trying to get F down.

like you, i go out every day so didn't want to be stuck indoors around naptimes so I picked one nap (the morning one) that he had at home and left him to decide whether to have a second in the car or pram.

hi ladies. Sorry haven't been around for ages or managed to catch up on the chat. Lucas had an horrendous ear infection the week before last (four nights of screaming pretty much all night) then dh was away 4 nights last week. My parents arrived 3 hrs before him on thurs evening, with my nephew (were meant to come on their own to help me prep) and Lucas' christening was on Sunday, so have been a little frantic busy.

L decided to work out how to sit himself up after his bath last night, so instead of putting him to bed at 7pm, we dismantled his cot to lower the base. He is desperately trying to stand, pulling himself up on anything and managed to take a couple of 'steps' forward crawling yesterday. No wonder I had a rough night - his poor brain is working overtime. Oh and he's teething too, and poss coming down with yet another ear infection. He seems to be getting them every 10 to 15 days at the moment

TSC L does the same when bf. I try to hold his hand, if he'll let me, or the bf beads seem to work (thx whoever it was recommended them before)

Cake start again as soon as you can with the potty training. We stopped with dd when she had an upset tummy and then DH convinced me she wasn't ready so we left it a while (even though she was already doing it). Was a nightmare when we did start again and took much much longer than the initial attempt. Also been through the same with bfing L. He is starting to get better, and now if he hasn't fed, he will have a good feed before a nap (although I am trying not to let him fall asleep feeding).
