Dd3 rolled once. Does like to lay on her side though. Last night she lay on my tummy with her head on my chest & managed to wriggle up me pulling on my hair & sucking my face to get over me to her toys. Dh had to rescue me Blush

Just took dd2 to an appt and dd3 pooed and pooed whilst we were talking. She was Grin

TysonNobdie86 · 15/02/2011 15:27

Grin @ Nymph's dd3, bless her.

nymphadora · 15/02/2011 17:58

Just had a fun half hour in a washing basket sitting on washing with dolly but sobbed when I moved it Blush

SeaShellsDreamingOfSummer · 15/02/2011 20:05

Hello :) goo to hear your news!

Dd is not rolling or sitting-she has the same problem Ds had-she throws herself backwards in excitement, so can't be left sat up!! She is gorgeous and doing well though.

Just tried my first bottle of formula tonight though and it got rejected :( I'm struggling to express sonhoped to mix feed but need to persevere. I fed Ds for 12mths so feel overly emotional about it-need to stop being silly, it's just sodding fortified cows milk not poison grrrrr. Hopefully tomorrow will be better Grin

So anyway, when does summer start, I'm fed up of wind and rain!!

I know exactly what you mean Seashells keep at it, its useful for if you're away as I was at the end of January and I'm naff at expressing too- not least because during the day DD is a big comfort feeder so there's little time to fit expressing in. See if you can get someone else to try with her. DD feeds well from my mum.

nymphadora · 16/02/2011 09:32

Good bibs in matalan with sleeves if anyone is thinking of BLW?

SamanthaB123 · 16/02/2011 11:24

Nymph Have you started weaning? My older girls were weaned at 4 months. Dd3 is starting to be interested but I'm going to hold off until we have at least moved house by which time she'll be 5 months. I don't want to quash her enthusiasm for eating by delaying her. We bought a highchair last week so she can sit independently while we all eat at the table - M & P Nuna - it is brilliant and she loves it.

Seashells we also have the flinging back with excitement issue when sitting! It's so cute!

nymphadora · 16/02/2011 12:11

Not yet do let her play with my food though. Getting high chair tomorrow hopefully so might make meal times easier

TysonNobdie86 · 16/02/2011 12:26

Sophie is eating one meal a day, going to up her to 2 meals when she seems ready. :)

Hermya321 · 16/02/2011 12:29

Hello everyone!!

We had a lovely weekend away, really it was just what the Doctor ordered. Me and DH got some baby free time (so so nice) whilst Nanny babysat.

We also met Ds's newest cousin as well and saw some of the extendeds. It was nice but the anti BF was out in full force, I've never really experienced anything like it. DN's Mum had attempted BF but had gotten sore and called it a day. She'd had a bit of a time of it in labour so I can understand why she did it.

But all the time whilst we were there everyone was on at her telling her 'well bottles are easier' etc etc and telling her stories of how some women who had been in hospital with them had been told they were starving their babies by attempting to BF if the women were having trouble getting started.

It didn't help that my bloody cousin came into the room whilst I was feeding DS and said in a very very loud voice 'Errrrgghhhh I can't believe you're still breastfeeding'. Angry I didn't stand over her shoulder whilst she was feeding her child and make gagging noises. So rude!!!!

TysonNobdie86 · 16/02/2011 12:45

OMG Hermya how rude of your cousin. Some people certainly havent got a clue have they :(

SeaShellsDreamingOfSummer · 16/02/2011 13:12

Shock Hermya, wow. Ive been so lucky from that regard, I've never experienced that :(

I'm holding out to 6monthd with weaning as we have allergies etc in the family, probably do a mix of finger foods and purees again. I should think she'll be on family meals pretty quick as I'm lazy likely to be back to work before a year is up.

nymphadora · 16/02/2011 15:10

OMG hermya how rude! I would have done it back Blush

I'm still attempting to hold back weaning. Hate the puree stage so going for BLW. She does play with my food but then wipes her hands. She did get a crumb of sweet pot round her mouth but most she wiped off!

SamanthaB123 · 16/02/2011 15:16

I think I need to read more about blw. Last time I started with baby rice and fruit purees I think. I suspect that like Seashells dd3 will be eating our foods quickly enough. I want to make it manageable for when I go back to work at the start of July.

SamanthaB123 · 16/02/2011 15:20

Sorry Hermya - how very rude! We're going to visit DH's brigade next week and although they are all very pro bfing I always get the sense I should be doing it in another room. No-one says anything, I just feel that they'd prefer it. It must be lovely to he at home where you can just whip your boobs out at will!

ILoveGregoryHouse · 16/02/2011 17:02

Evening All.

Just waiting for fil and his wife to arrive later this evening.

We've decided we're coming back to the UK at easter so I'm busy applying for school places. The trouble here has been the final straw I guess - have been very worried esp as Genni has no passport yet, but British Embassy said not to worry, they'd get us all home if necessary (which it won't, I'm just being neurotic).

Hermya, how rude of your cousin. What did you say?

nymphadora · 16/02/2011 17:16

Where ar you ILGH? Lost track of where trouble is at the moment to match you up Blush where are you coming back to? Shouldn't take too long to get a passport should it? What does dh do? (sorry sounding like an inquisitionBlush)

ILoveGregoryHouse · 16/02/2011 17:41

We're in Bahrain.

DH is in HR (as am/was I).

Passport application is in Germany at the mo (all overseas applications go there now). Might be another 2-4 weeks. Eek!

nymphadora · 16/02/2011 18:56

Haven't heard anything about Bahrain (feel ignorant now ) is it ripples from Egypt/Tunisia etc or something else? Passport not important if it kicks off though if the embassy can help although obviously you'd rather leave first.

ILoveGregoryHouse · 16/02/2011 21:08

Pro-democracy/reform protesters emboldened by Egypt. I have some sympathy for them tbh.

Largely peaceful but police a bit heavy handed on a couple of occasions and three people have died.

We'll be going back to Essex although I'm Scottish (too cold there !)

Hermya321 · 16/02/2011 21:15

ILGH I didn't know there were troubles over there, I hope everything gets sorted. To be honest I was so taken aback that all I said was 'of course I am, why wouldn't I be?' I got my act together a little bit later on in the day when my cousin was talking about night feeds and how she hated it. I told her I didn't mind so much as all I had to do was lift my top up. I know I shouldn't get drawn into it, it's up to you how you feed your child. At the end of the day they all grow up the same way don't they.

Sam It is nicer, I don't feel like I have to do all the shirt tugging to make sure my FIL and BIL didn't cop an eyeful.

nymphadora · 16/02/2011 21:25

I didn't realise ILGH either.

TimeForABrew · 16/02/2011 22:05

Ooh I'm way behind again, lol nymph at DD sucking your face & pulling your hair! My DD tried a combination of that by grabbing my hair and trying to eat it. Boak.
seashells I was surprised how different things seem now, before DD I thought "ff or bf, so what as long as they are fed" and now nothing is as simple! ( had to supplement with ff as DD had jaundice and kept falling asleep instead of sucking, still does unless really hungry, so I bf only v occasionally, used to express and use ff, about 2 weeks ago I decided I just cba expressing any more, then I felt really sad about it and started again, but not as often as I used to, feel a mix of guilt and relief).
Hermya glad you had a lovely weekend away, but why do people feel the need to judge re bf? (or non bf come to that) so uncalled for.
ILGH I didn't realise either, are you looking forward to coming back?

DD did some half rolls today during tummy time, looked very pleased with herself.

Being nosey, What do you call your LOs? DD is munchkin pumpkin at the moment.
Even nosier, how much weight did you gain during pg? I put on nearly 3 stone (have lost about 2 though).

TimeForABrew · 16/02/2011 22:06

Oh yeah I asked about baby massage last time, I've had a couple of lessons, first one DD slept right through! Hasn't been repeated, but it's a lovely bonding time, me like! I never say "me like". What have I turned in to?

Elsa123 · 16/02/2011 23:41

Hello all. Having a few mins to myself as limpet has been with me all day and only fell asleep at 2300. Found the end of my tether at 1930 when she was upset still and I hadn't eaten since 1200...wanted to cry but managed not to. Rang DH for some moral support. He was swimming at the gym he's just joined. He didn't call me back until 2110 telling me how tired he was from his swim Envy.

DD is getting extremely uncomfortable with her harness. I know that thats whats bugging her as if I release her legs she sighs with relief and goes all happy. Her next consultant appointment is a week today and I'm really hoping that will be it harness wise, but we'll see. I know she's lucky compared to a lot of babies but it is getting us both down a bit now. Its rather awkward.

ILGH I hope it doesn't get too bad in Bahrain. I know many people are excited by the possible changes these protests bring but I think there are also nerves that any destabilisation might pave the way for a government that appears to be great then ends up not so in the eyes of many..like in Iran after the fall of the Shah. I hope you get home safely.

Timeforabrew our DD is called Bronwen and DH often calls her The Bronster. I personally don't like Bronnie so try to stop him calling her that. For me, its either Bronwen, Bron or sweetheart.

Weight wise I can't remember, but I know I have 2kgs to go to my pre preg weight, maybe more after this week as I've made 2 cakes....
