Welcome everyone :)

OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
TribbleWithoutACause · 08/05/2011 22:05

silver my fact of the day from fast food babies programme on bbc3 says it takes babies 16 tastes of something before they get used to it, DS is a bit funny with things so I've just been reoffering every now and again. Otherwise mix it up with some of your milk or shove a bit of dairylea in it, it seems to offset the bitterness of the veg a bit.

TribbleWithoutACause · 08/05/2011 22:06

Oh I think we may need a new thread soon.

TyIsAnob · 09/05/2011 00:16

yes we will, its been so long since we had a new thread i have forgot the decorum Grin Who starts it again?
Has anyone got any thread title suggestions? :)

HarrietJones · 09/05/2011 21:32

Going out on Friday (hopefully) but what do I wear? First night out in a year and not got dh to look good against Wink no money & nothing that fits. Also breastfeeding bras don't help

MockingbirdsNotForSale · 09/05/2011 22:08

If you have a dress that fits wear it! I'd like to wear a dress atm but bfing denies it! My boobage is too big for my dresses ath the moment though apart from a wrap around dress.

HarrietJones · 09/05/2011 22:15

Only one dress & no chance with my boobs! Only have t-shirts, jeans, combats. 3 pair of shoes I can cope with. Trainers, DMs ,Fitflops. I'm a lost cause

TribbleWithoutACause · 09/05/2011 22:30

hj do you know anyone who you could borrow off of? Jeans can look good with a nice top, team it with a scarf and a bolero cardigan of some sort and that could work. Also if you're going out will any of your old underwire bras fit?

Dh is having a bit if a mini meltdown, he hates his job and it's making him miserable. Tbh we've been down this road a few times and he hasn't been able to find anything that he'd like to do so it's kind of a double frustration. Oh I don't know, ignore me i'm babbling.

HarrietJones · 10/05/2011 07:43

Not really anyone to borrow off, only have 2 friend. Jeans all scruffy from gardening & crawling round the floor. I've gone up 4 bra sizes since I got pg so nothing is going near me!

I do the job thing tribble. I've never managed to find something I wanted to do

TribbleWithoutACause · 10/05/2011 08:52

Oh dear hj, how much is no money? Are we talking seriously poor or could you afford to go to asda or tesco and get something tres cheap?

DS us kicking up a real stink about taking the bottle, he throws a major hissy fit when taking it off of me. It's so frustrating, but he can't not take it as I need to know that he'll have it for when I go back to working shifts. We shall persevere.

MockingbirdsNotForSale · 10/05/2011 09:18

Morning! Oh dear HJ and here was me about to suggest some fabulous shoes if all else fails. What size are you? Perhaps someone here is similar and can lend you something? Can you manage a trip to Primark to get something cheap and chic? (Not that anything there fits me well but you never know.) How about wonderful hair and make up and do your nails? Combats slightly rolled up, vest/t-shirt and fit flops with sparkly nail polish and some jewellery?

HarrietJones · 10/05/2011 09:35

can stretch to Asda/tesco /new look but not really a full outfit. BUT can't think of anything I have that can be combined with something new. Possibly if I could get a dress that might be cheaper. Can I get away with suede fitflops? Might have some other flip flop type shoes i could manage for 2-3 hours.

TribbleWithoutACause · 10/05/2011 10:25

Have you got a plain coloured vest top and cardigan? You could get hold of a cheap skirt from Asda and team them together, or if not a skirt person asda are doing white linen trousers for £12.50 (you could get away with the fit flops here). Team outfit with sparkly scarf or some big bangles and you'll be set.

I often fall back on this type of outfit as I hate shopping for myself and I know this outfit is easy to get organised.

There are some dresses here (asda).

HarrietJones · 10/05/2011 10:35

They look hopeful thanks tribble

sam12 · 10/05/2011 11:46

I was in matalan yesterday and they had an offer on all their summer dresses if that helps. I was looking for Rose petals anybody any ideas where to get them? There are loads on Internet but I haven't got time to order from there.

HarrietJones · 10/05/2011 11:50

Sorry no idea Sam , are they for your wedding?

I'll have a look in Matalan too.

Hoping dh gets paid this week as it's still a bit to pot from starting the job so we can get a bit more on track. Just seen pirates 4 is on baby screening next week & want to go to that too,

MockingbirdsNotForSale · 10/05/2011 12:19

I'm jealous about the baby screening- they don't do it here. I do like that brown midi dress for £9. The navy blue one is good too. But to see you through summer, you may prefer one of the maxi dresses?

HarrietJones · 10/05/2011 12:29

It's not our local cinema unfortunately , this ones about 30 miles away but we usually combine it with lunch( out of pizza express tokens at the moment though :( ).

I like the maxi dresses better but I'm only 5ft so they don't always work.will take dh with me as he's not bad on clothes shopping (better than me.

tiredfeet · 10/05/2011 19:26

I was in supermarket with dh and ds today and in my sleep deprived state blew a raspberry on dh's arm in front of a whole queue of people Blush I must have had the thought to blow one on ds as he loves them, and my brain just processed it a bit wrong! Dh was a bit baffled!!

Good luck with the outfit hunt hj I haven't been shopping for so long so don't know what to suggest

Interesting about the 16 tastes tribble. Ds likes all fruit but is a bit more tentative about some vegetables. After learning that I will persevere

Feel for your dh re the job thing tribble, its sucha big part of ones life, its not easy when you don't enjoy it. Don't know what to suggest other than keep looking and thinking. Sometimes even the same job somewhere different can be much better, just if the team or culture is a better fit.

sam12 · 10/05/2011 22:05

Yes Harriet they are for the wedding- apparently making their room romantic is one of the best man's duties- spent a bloody fortune on them today! But managed to get a speech written. I have been shopping for our hols and you should try New Look they have got loads of bright summery dresses- I tried one on that was £7.50. I am really struggling for holiday clothes as I have got nothing and can't find anything- poor dd must be fed up of being dragged round shops.
Tribble dh is the same about his job. It is really difficult to know what to do to help them. I have tried suggesting retraining but he, quite rightly, points out we can't afford it and he doesn't even know what he wants to do. There are so few jobs out there still that it can be difficult to move but he has his eye out. I guess all you can do is be there to support him and let him vent to you till he makes a decision. Hope DS starts taking the bottle more easily soon, he probably will off someone else as he probably thinks why is she faffing with that when her boobs are there!!
tired Grin that is funny!
DD has thrown up the last two days, which isn't like her, and then had a really bad night she was making really strange noises in her sleep and kept crying. She has been really clingy all day as well and just not herself. I noticed when I was putting her to bed a tooth is starting to poke through- do you think all these things are down to teething?

TribbleWithoutACause · 11/05/2011 07:28

tfhave you tried pear and butternut squash, actually pear with most things is a good mixer. It might help introduce him to more veggie tastes. We has pear, pea and parsnip yesterday and it went down well.

Sam yeah it's a Shane isn't it, I have wondered what I can do to help. After work is sorted I was thinking of doing a book keeping course of some sort. I don't know, we'll just have to see.

TyIsAnob · 11/05/2011 09:11

Dd finally rolled yesterday :)
Dd like sweet potatoes the best atm.

HarrietJones · 11/05/2011 16:27

Been to baby group today & it's changed into a 'session' rather than chat& play. I was a bit disappointed as I like the chat & the session was communication which is 'my area' so didn't learn anything. Probably not a great group of adults for it though as loads of nursery nurses & people who work with kids! The leaders worked hard on it too. Dd3 enjoyed herself moving between babies as they fell asleep !

Anyone got a thread title? It's getting slow to load now

MockingbirdsNotForSale · 11/05/2011 17:01

Thats annoying HJ. Any more progress on the party clothes front?!

Well done to your DD Ty. My DD has decided that standing is much more fun and its a guaranteed manoeuvre to cheer her up if she's feeling a little grizzly. She does move about the floor pretty fast, but I've never actually seen her do it iyswim. Every time I step away with her safely on the rug, she moves quite far. Its like....OMG! She just rolled onto her front right in front of me! Speaketh and it shall appear! She's had the front to back roll licked for ages. The back to front one was done back in February then never again until now!! Grin.

Got the gardeners in turfing, sorting out the hedge etc and my they are hard workers. They've been working constantly since 0750 and its looking so smart. A random fruit tree that sprouted up of its own accord round the back of the oil tank has just been transplanted and looks very good. Unfortunately the digging up of the old scrub and relevelling revealed a ground dwelling beehive. Its now been covered over with turf and the poor old bees are flying round trying to get back in. I feel very sad for them Sad.

No idea with thread title- I am lacking in imagination....

HarrietJones · 11/05/2011 17:53

It's nice to get the garden sorted isn't it.

Going shopping for clothes tomorrow

floozietoozie · 11/05/2011 22:14

Hello all. Mock and Ty* dd also rolled back onto front at the weekend when we were away and has it licked now. I was wondering when she would start as she's been doing the 3/4 way over but getting stuck at the arm bit for ages now. It's still amazing to me to see her doing stuff like that after ds.

Harriet hope the clothes hunt goes well. I need summer tops that are bf friendly. I'm still carrying on with it even though I have very tiny amounts of milk and dd has formula as well but I'll carry on for as long as I can force her to! It's doing the job of keeping my periods at bay, thank god, and I figure even small amounts of bm must be doing her some good. Plus I like the closeness/comfort of it too.

Well, I had some very annoying news today. There's a playcentre/cafe really near me which I've been a member of for over a year, and had renewed membership for both kids in March. They've just announced they're closing immediately, and in the email sent out about it make no mention of refunding annual memberships. I'm not happy - it cost me £170 for the two of them! I've emailed asking for the remaining months to be refunded but I've no idea what the legal position is on this. As far as I'm concerned it's breach of contract, and there was no mention made of it being in administration so it sounds like they've just decided to close as it's not making money, but surely they have to refund people in those circumstances? Tf you're a lawyer aren't you - any knowledge of circumstances like this if you don't mind me asking? Or anyone else?

Re the thread title, what about something like: October 2010 - now they're chomping, next they'll be stomping. Ok, that may be a little premature on the stomping front, but given the thread rate has slowed down a lot, it might be true for a few of them by the end of it. It's taken us three months to get through this thread, and I reckon it will probably be more like four or five for the next given there are fewer people posting regularly.
