Wonderful passport news ILGH!

ILGH Great news!!!!

Tyson Oh I'm sorry about your car, it's a pain isn't it.

Well we're all back from the fun and games of the yoof weekend. Gosh I need a drink, all weekend it was bang bang thud indiscriminate talking bang bang thud a few giggles BANG door slam and then loads of squeals echoing down the corridor outside our room (at 11pm plus). I didn't mind too much as it was supposed to be fun for them. But there were times when I really felt old.

A few of the girls came out in what I felt was next to nothing, all I really wanted to do was take them aside and offer them a cardigan.

On the plus side, I think I have my Mum glare down. I stopped a couple of the lads in their tracks with just an eyebrow raise. Grin

BellaDesconocida · 20/02/2011 19:34

Glad you had a good weekend Hermya, lol at 'mum glare'

BellaDesconocida · 20/02/2011 19:35

It's timeforabrew, thought it was time for a name change, a mysterious new me

TysonNobdie86 · 20/02/2011 20:10

Hi time Bella, I will need help with the name changing, I forget quite easily Blush
I feel so sorry for Sophie, she is teething and in agony, I wish I could take all her pain away and take it myself :(

nymphadora · 20/02/2011 20:45

Thought we had a newby then!
Dd3 has a rash think it's from th new/ unwashed sleepsuiton Friday. Nothing serious just annoying to us, she isn't bothered! Think she is teething too, lumps & chomping going on. Today's new thing is shouting people. Usually just stares til they respond but now she shouts. I'm nyam,dd1/2 have a noise similar to part of their names (same sound) & she coughs at dh( he had a cough for ages Grin)

Dh has two interviews this week!

TysonNobdie86 · 20/02/2011 20:55

Good luck to Dh Nymph :)

tiredfeet · 20/02/2011 21:51

Ds also teething, he shrieks with pain its horrible. Can't get him to take calpol but bonjela is helping a little

Well done to your dh nypmh I hope the interviews go well Smile
I have an interview for pt job next week - so shocked to have go it, don't fancy my chances but still it will be good practice Smile. I am hoping dh could do the childcare or most of it though as I don't feel ready to leave ds at nursery yet (its me being a wimp, am sure he would be fine!)
has anyone got a return to work date sorted already? If I got the job (its a big if) I would probably have to start when ds was 6-7 months, which is sooner than I would have liked really, so would be a difficult decision.

nymphadora · 20/02/2011 21:57

29/6 or 2/9 at the moment for me going back.Depends on redundancy/finances/dh getting a job. I keep coming across jobs for me but need to know about redundancy situation first. Saw good one but was tempory contract and can't risk that with dh not working.

TysonNobdie86 · 20/02/2011 22:22

tired, have you tried a syringe, if you ask doctors or pharmacist, they can usually give you one. It is the easiest way to get a little baby to take calpol :)

nymphadora · 20/02/2011 22:26

We mix calpol with milk and use syringe. Dd2 never took it & had suppositories instead.

NoHunIntended · 20/02/2011 23:05

Hello, Bella! Any meaning to the name you wish to share?

ILGH, are you back in the UK yet?

Good luck re interview, tf.

DS keeps sticking his tongue out at us! This is not an example we have been setting! So very cute. :)

Teething babies - have you tried the amber teething necklaces?

SeaShellsDreamingOfSummer · 21/02/2011 06:55

Another one that uses a syringe! Much the easiest way!!

OP posts:
Hermya321 · 21/02/2011 08:56

Nohun I've been looking at those as well and wondering if it would be worth getting one.

I use a syringe as well, DS takes calpol a lot better that way.

NoHunIntended · 21/02/2011 10:48

H, worth a try, I would say. Hard to know for sure if it works, but I think it does.

tiredfeet · 21/02/2011 11:38

We used a syringe. Still had huge difficulties though, mixing with milk sounds like a good idea. Didn't realise you could get suppositoties, that is useful to know too, hate seeing him in pain. That said, the bonjela has really helped, and we have discovered that he will sleep if he is cuddling one of us whereas he wakes in pain if on his own, so he is back in our bed again.

Have heard of the amber necklaces but don't really get how they are meant to work?

Elsa123 · 21/02/2011 17:03

I couldn't get DD to sleep on Saturday night. She was screaming every time she tried to feed which is indicative of either ear ache or teething. We gave her some Calpol and when DH approached her with the spoon, she opened her mouth straight away and swallowed instantly! It was half a 2.5ml dose, and when he went to give her the other 2.5 ml, she very adeptly slide it out of her mouth sideways and all over the shoulder of her harness. She eventually settled at midnight wearing just a t-shirt and a 1 tog sleeping bag as she was not happy in what she normally wears. She settled with one hand jammed in her ear so I think it must have been earache. She's currently fast asleep.

NoHunIntended · 21/02/2011 17:52

tf, good info re amber here: www.amberpumpkin.com/amber-teething-necklaces-do-they-work.html. They are working for DS - and it can't be a placebo effect! :)

NoHunIntended · 21/02/2011 17:55

And I know I posted this before, but in case anyone missed it, this is for info - ignore or embrace as you see fit: www.theecologist.org/green_green_living/behind_the_label/346400/behind_the_label_calpol.html

BellaDesconocida · 21/02/2011 18:14

Tired, poor DS & Tyson poor Sophie, hope the pain eases soon for them :-( - (& tyson, what is the nobdie thread about?)

BellaDesconocida · 21/02/2011 18:17

Oooh, good luck re interviews tired and nymphs DH!!

New name is for a "new me" as Miranda would say "a new me reigneth, Phoenix and woman both, but not in a mutanty way" the new me will not mangle toys or scrape the car along columns in underground asda car parks. However, she will start to make a spaghetti bolognese then realise there is no pasta sauce ... Yes, I am not a make-my-own-sauce person

nymphadora · 21/02/2011 18:38

Me too on the cooking Bella!

Dh didn't get today's job. Before he got there they had decided it wasn't appropriate for a man of his standing to do part of the jobHmm he said he was happy to but they felt it wasn't right to lower himself Confused they only emailed interview yesterday! Last job has similar attitude of him being overqualified so hope this won't carry on.

Tyson when is your interview?

Elsa123 · 21/02/2011 19:00

Sorry to hear that about your DH Nymph, you never know, they may offer him a better position? That happened to anold colleague of mine. He applied for a baggage handler job at an airport and turned up for the interview in a suit. They told him they didn't think it would be right for him to 'lower himself' to do the baggage handling job and then rang him back the next day and offered him the supervisor role. One problem that a lot of employers have though is recognising someone's potential and being a bit jealous and not wanting them to join the company and show them up.

ILGH I'm so pleased for you that your DD has her passport. Keep safe Smile.

Hermya I'm glad to hear that the yoof weekend went well and good on you for having the energy to do it!

Nice name change Bella!

NoHun I'm tempted to try the necklace although I don't think DD is teething yet. Re Calpol, every medicine has its side effects. Paracetamol can be particularly harmful if we don't take it properly but Calpol has been through rafts of tests. I'm sure other childrens paracetamol brands are good too. I think even a simple paracetamol suspension made up by the chemist would need something nice tasting in it as paracetamol does taste foul on its own! One tiny dose of calpol was administered to DD when she was in hospital for her fractured skull and it calmed her enough to have a good feed and a little sleep. It worked well for her and she didn't suffer from the trots from it or anything. It did far more good than harm.
