Morning, hope you all find me!

Just had a call from the garage - my little car's head gasket is all better, and only £600 so not too bad really. Only trouble is, they then MOT'd it and, of course, it's failed! Another £300-odd of stuff to fix, aaarrgggghhh. No point not doing it seeing as I've already spent the money on the head gasket. Think I might buy a newer car next time though!

FjorgynAndHotWater · 20/11/2010 09:34

star will you be OK without DH there and your dodgy back? I hope there is someone you can ring if you find you suddenly can't get up / sit down. My car's not ready until later so I'm no good to you Sad

aDarkStarWithStrangeWays · 20/11/2010 10:42

What a massive pain in the arse re. car :( Thanks for worrying about me, I will be fine. I am able to get around, it just hurts a lot a bit, and there are several friends living nearby that I can call in an emergency :)

My lovely NCT pal has invited us over for Sunday lunch tomorrow, so that will be nice.

DS is being very good. He seems to understand that when mummy says 'ow ow ow' it's not a good time to demand a lifty Grin

FjorgynAndHotWater · 20/11/2010 10:51

We are off to MIL's for tea tomorrow, am hoping she'll feel sorry for me and make a contribution to the repair bill [mercenary]Blush

Glad to hear you are managing though, bad backs suck arse Sad

FjorgynAndHotWater · 20/11/2010 13:11

Where are you all today? Hiding cos you think I'll be trying to cadge a tenner or two??? Wink

aDarkStarWithStrangeWays · 20/11/2010 13:29

Arf, no, I'm here. Feeling a bit sad and lonely tbh :( The weather is that kind of grey, damp crud that encourages low mood.

FjorgynAndHotWater · 20/11/2010 13:50

Oh sweetie Sad when is your DH back, tomorrow? I'll be back to chat in half an hour or so, going to go for a ride on my bike to work off the bacon butty I just scoffed Grin

Feeling a bit Biscuit here too, just remembered that not only do I have to pay the car bill but also house insurance and car insurance both due at the beginning of next month so that's another £700 down the pan. Honestly, how have I managed to get so that house & car insurance and MOT are all due within 7 days of each other only three weeks before Christmas FFS Hmm. Thank fuck for credit cards...

CrispyTheCrisp · 20/11/2010 13:56

Sad star, so when you are feeling crap, DH away and the weather shiteola. Glad you have a nice lunch to look forward to tomorrow Smile

Busy day so far - DD1 opened her presents after an initial 'i'm saving them till last' and 'i'll open them when the other children are here'. Once she started it, there was no stopping her lol. Favourite presents are her scooter and a pink guitar so she can play along with the zingzillas Grin

Been to Sainsburys and DD1 chose a chocolate traybake as her cake and some butterfly candles. Job done for party preparation . We then popped into a friend's to drop off a card for her daughter who was born the same day as DD1 (was v weird that we both had the same problematic placenta's, both had a first bleed the same day, then both had a second bleed the same day 5 weeks later, and the girls born on the same day with the same registrar!). She is doing a full on party for 40, disco, doing all the catering etc and spent two days making a Peppa Pig cake. I felt even more Blush about my hands off plans for DD1.

hots would love to fling you some cash but i'm afraid i am charitied out today after being accosted in Sainsbo's and asked to purchase and donate some mince pies for the poor of Gloucester. Any other time, of course i would WinkGrin

Thanks girls :) DH is back tomorrow evening so it's not that bad. I actually like having some time to myself now and again, just not when I'm in pain as it makes me needy Grin

Crisp how spooky about DD1's birthday twin Shock Her party sounds very very, but my approach would be the same as yours. DS didn't even have a party this year, just a couple of friends round for cake Blush We have no room that's my excuse.

salta · 20/11/2010 14:03

oh dear, have just reported the above post because I forgot and put DS's name in

Those of you who read the thread will hopefully soon be puzzling over what salacious celebrity gossip I was posting that Mumsnet had to delete it for me ...

CrispyTheCrisp · 20/11/2010 14:08

Really Salta, Wow. I never knew that?! Shock. I'm SO glad i got to see that before it was posted..

Wink

Star could you have a nice relax in the bath. I have now trained both DD's to pour hot water over my back/shoulders whilst i sit there reading a magazine. Very civilised and relaxing Grin

CrispyTheCrisp · 20/11/2010 14:09

Or even deleted.....Hmm

aDarkStarWithStrangeWays · 20/11/2010 14:10

PMSL Crisp, you evil genius parent you Grin

I might well have a bath with DS later, that should pass some time. He has been so good, bless him, apart from refusing to eat his lunch as usual.

CrispyTheCrisp · 20/11/2010 14:16

Oh absolutely star, I tell you, i could run courses in it Grin.

aDarkStarWithStrangeWays · 20/11/2010 14:23
PertyPru · 20/11/2010 15:21

Ummmm... if there's room please can I also sign up for Crispy's patented genius parenting-of-two course? I am going to need it ShockBlushGrinGrin

aDarkStarWithStrangeWays · 20/11/2010 15:26

Shock Grin Envy Grin

PertyPru · 20/11/2010 15:28

I know Star - sorry Blush. Hope you will be joining me very, very soon.

FjorgynAndHotWater · 20/11/2010 15:48

Hurrah for you pert GrinGrinGrin

aDarkStarWithStrangeWays · 20/11/2010 17:19

It's not really a surprise, you said something the other day that instantly made me think 'aha - duffers'.

Congrats :)

aDarkStarWithStrangeWays · 20/11/2010 17:25

Anyway, I win the shit parent of the day award: DS has spent the entire afternoon watching Peppa Pig and has had pancakes for tea.

blueberryboybait · 20/11/2010 17:28

YAY Perty - CONGRATULATIONS :)

A june or July baby?

OP posts:
blueberryboybait · 20/11/2010 17:30

Star - how are you feeling this evening? Don't worry about Peppa and Pancakes, if it was an everyday occurrence then worry but once in a blue moon is perfectly okay.
