Shiney DH's parents fostered teenagers when he was growing up and he's seen the difference it can make to people's lives, so we certainly wouldn't rule it out for the future. I do worry that I wouldn't be up to the job though (give me a few more years to become Harsh Mummy Grin)

Great news on the hair

Silkstalkings · 08/10/2010 12:47

ASIS I looked into adoption after having DS1 as I definitely didn't want to get pg again (PMSLGrin.) I occasionally taunt myself with all the SN kids on here seeing as we have SN experience but DH & I are now so looking forward to the rest of our lives with the family we have and also our childfree 50s.

Hippo Has he apologised yet? If so, feel free to let rip about not wanting DCs to grow up thinking that's how women should be treated.

Had another flippin repressed memory flip-out last nightSad. Was watching a Jet Li film where he was using acupuncture to paralyse people. Reminded me of the time I had it for migraines aged 14ish. I had been unable to move as even the slightest eg finger twitch sent my entire arm into agony, so I'd spent well over 30mins lying paralysed and terrified and thinking that must be normal. Guy that did it was pretty much the top homeopath in the UK. Anyway spent last night weeping, DH was so lovely, as he was when I realised my ex had been such a bully. I said it's thanks to spending the last 12yrs with him that I have have had these moments, grown the emotional maturity to objectively assess those situations and found them to be wrong, not my fault. Wish we could go back in time and give those versions of me a big hug.

enyahadenough · 08/10/2010 12:57

quick visit as snowed under with life atm..

hugs hip hope he has appologised and wish some men understood what is was like looking after two v young children/house and also trying to be super wife hugs..

shiny so pleased about hair and promise i haven't forgotten about villa, just need to find some decent pics and will mail u..

star v v impressed that you may think about adoption/fostering.. if u do you will be fab!

right dd2 calling to play... shattered/worn out says it all Hmm

Admin · 08/10/2010 13:02

ANOTHER GIRL GROUP!!!GrinGrin
CONGRATULATIONS!!! 100!!!

Star that's a wonder wonder idea. Now I've been involved with fostered and adopted family members with good & bad stories alike. (that's in my own personal family if that didn't type out clearly) I suggested adoption to DH at one point in our history and he is not for it. I have been able to circumvent him slightly with my cat mission. I've foster and adopted as many of them as I probably would have children over the years. Not quite the same but still love in my heart.Smile

Sorry I've only skimmed this morning but trying very slowly to get us ready to head north. Since we've not decided whose vehicle to take I'm at a standstill. In the truck we have room to change and a mess is not big deal. In the car we have a DVD player and it will funnier to drive. Decisions Decisions Decisions.Confused

oh Admin you do make me chuckle Grin.. wished you lived on this side of the pond Grin..

forgot to say that dsd has had her 20 week scan and is have a girl!! she sent me a text mess telling me i was getting a granddaughter ekkk

Silkstalkings · 08/10/2010 13:21

Forgot you have a grownup DSD Enya. Must feel very strange indeed. How are comms with her mum? (nosy Q, feel free to disregard.)

enyahadenough · 08/10/2010 13:31

no worries star.. never met the mum.. h had a 3 month fling at 21 which resulted in dsd!! he tried to the right thing ie get married house etc but her mum didn't want it and wanted to live off benefits!! he paid csa til she was 18 but had never met her or was 100% sure if she was his!!

she got in touch when dd1 was 16 months old.. i nearly died of fright.. when they met she was the image of him!!! so everthing ok now tho she is alot closer to me than "h"!!! no change there then!!

i bet u are sorry u asked Grin

Silkstalkings · 08/10/2010 17:11

Not sorry, faskinating stuff. Makes you feel old though doesn't it, to think that 18yrs is long enough to grow a whole adult when it just seems like yesterday Modern Life is Rubbish by Blur came out.

UrsulaUndress · 08/10/2010 17:53

Silky how do you think I feel, I will have an 18-year-old in under six years... waaahh! The plus side being I suppose he'll be able to drive to collect me from the pub.

I don't feel that comfortable discussing possible new baby, hence rather slithery responses to questions - my fault, not any of yours, I hasten to add - and don't think dp would appreciate it either! Though occasionally am driven to make tiny veiled reference... Apols for being weirdo. Is just too private or something.

UrsulaUndress · 08/10/2010 17:54

I don't mean private from you lot, btw, I mean private for a public forum.

BibiBelle · 08/10/2010 19:56

I have two happy bathed children sitting in their cardboardboxes spaceships waiting on their biggest sister to come home. If it wasn't for DH having to go to nightshift in half hour life would be very good indeed.

FjorgynAndHotWater · 08/10/2010 20:32

I have two asleep and a glass of chilled white wine. Cheers Bibi darling Smile

BibiBelle · 08/10/2010 20:41

All in bed but doubt sleeping and DH away. DD1 has announced her part in the Christmas Play (the Mini Fairy Godmother Hmm) and come home with two party invites for the same weekend

BibiBelle · 08/10/2010 20:41

Cheers Hots

ServicePlease · 08/10/2010 20:43

I have 2 asleep and a glass of red Smile

When is the mini london meet? I may be in london on Tues...

FjorgynAndHotWater · 08/10/2010 20:46

silky I'll send you a smile and a gentle arm punch for the lovely woman you are now Smile

enya ooh you will be a glamorous granny Grin Seems weird but not that long ago it wasn't at all unusual. My grandma was my age when I was born (I know you are much younger than that Wink) but here am I still hankering after another baby of my own...

Ursula sweetie don't fret it, I'm sure your time will come v soon. Think of merlion, this time last week she was in our shoes and now look at her! I am starting to feel too old and think I only have a few more months before it all becomes too much and I pack in trying. As DS gets more independent and our lives get easier the thought of pregnancy, childbirth, sleepless nights etc etc etc gets, well not less appealing but less manageable iykwim. Plus we really can't afford it and the way Dave et al are going it's only going to get worse. Of course i am going to win the euromillions tonight and will be able to afford a nanny to take all the pain of tiny babies away Grin

OnceandFutureQueen · 08/10/2010 20:48

Hi everyone.
Sorry haven't yet figured out all the new names. HAve been absent as S has killed off my laptop. Currently at MIL's using BIL's laptop.

Sorry to hear of outings in RL :(

When people mentioned the troll thread is this referring to the one about cp? Got pretty nasty and I got quite wound up about that one!

Hope everyone is ok!

Welcome Queenie - any luck with S's breakfasts?

Think i will go chase No1......

BibiBelle · 08/10/2010 20:57

Fjorgyn - please type what ever name you like. I REALLY appreciate all the huge effort you've all gone to. MN have deleted some of the KnB references so fingers crossed. I think someone would have to be pretty weird determined to get here Blush

The cafe job was advertised today Hmm nuff said.

Went and picked up keys to new shop today all very exciting and shall be cleaning it out and moving stuff in next week Grin

I'm going to theatre with girls tomorrow, there are about 30 of us, so looking forward to it. I've organised it all and am one ticket short Blush so will have to wing it tomorrow Grin

OnceandFutureQueen · 08/10/2010 20:59

Thanks SP (trying to figure out who you are now Confused yes breakfasts getting better thanks, although the laptop was destroyed when S kicked his bowl of cereal and spilt milk all over laptop.

hots I thought Sassy was vicious and unpleasant on that thread. She was just attacking anyone and everyone. It just seemed over the top tbh

ServicePlease · 08/10/2010 20:59

Are you going to apply Bibi? Biscuit

HouseOfAHundredNappies · 08/10/2010 21:01

Have had a lovely day with DD, we went for lunch (our new Friday thing!) and we built a den when we got home - our first one! She loved it and had a tantrum when I went to take it apart before bedtime. But I did dismantle it and am honestly not sitting inside it typing much! Grin

Bibi, am Smile at your girls in their cardboard boxes - aren't they just the best toys ever?! I always laughed at people when they said that but realise it's true now!

Congratulations Merlion! I knew there'd been pg announcement on one of the other threads, but lost track of who it was when all the changes happened - very excited for you!

And congratulations on your grand-daughter too Enya! More girls! It's mad to think that we will have a Grandma in our midst! When is your DSD due?

How's everything today Hippo? Things at home been resolved yet?

Yay on the hair Shiney! Glad to hear you're getting there. I remember how awful it was when DD was about 4mths old and mine really started falling out, but at least that was only short term and I knew it would come back soon.

I never remembered to say thank you for the knitting kit Silkstalkings Blush, so 'Thank You'! It's really clicked this time so after about 21yrs of trying and failing, I completed my first project - a baby cardigan! It's a bit wonky and mis-shapen but not bad for a first attempt I don't think!

Hello to anyone else I've missed!

FjorgynAndHotWater · 08/10/2010 21:02

Hurrah for new shop bibi and fuck the lot of those trust bastards Smile

Ooh I'm hungry, waiting for my chicken to cook. Smells v yummy
