HippyHippopotamus · 26/10/2010 22:28

nursery looks really lovely bibi but it was making me feel cold just thinking about it

HippyHippopotamus · 26/10/2010 22:30

sorry to hear about poorly dads
crisp what did you get him for his b'day? i'm always on the look out for ideas for the older man because my dad's really hard to get pressies for!

ooh look what i found [hbiscuit] Grin

HippyHippopotamus · 26/10/2010 22:32

news from the hippo household... littlest hippo has just started smiling Smile

BibiBelle · 26/10/2010 22:38

oh bless her - must be time for some new photos them Grin

we got Dad a DS last Christmas, brilliant present and means he can get a game with every celebration !

CrispyTheCorpse · 26/10/2010 22:39

Awwwwww. Lovely SmileSmile from littlelestHippo Smile

I got dad the latest Jeremy Clarkson book - it is in short stories which is great as he can't concentrate for long. Also got the collectors set of Royal Mail stamps which are Winnie teh Pooh ones as he loves WTP. He always says there is nothing he wants or needs as no point as he won't be around much longer so has enough socks/jumpers etc to see him through Hmm. I did him a big hamper for Christmas last year which he loved Smile

CrispyTheCorpse · 26/10/2010 22:41

OMG, I am PMSL at the thought of Dad using a DS Grin

BibiBelle · 26/10/2010 22:51

we just got it with the brain training one!

comments like that annoy me - Dad was talking about a new car but then said it wouldn't be worth it as he wouldn't have it long enough

then again, this coming from the man who has said 'god willing' everytime I said night, see you in the morning for the past 10yrs Hmm

FjorgynAndHotWater · 26/10/2010 22:55

Nooooooooooooooooooo

CrispyTheCorpse · 26/10/2010 22:58
Wink
BibiBelle · 26/10/2010 22:59

and welcome Fjorgyn - thank goodness you're here to back me up

CrispyTheCorpse · 26/10/2010 22:59

Bibi she's too busy snivelling.....

BibiBelle · 26/10/2010 23:02

right, can you all get over and enter the Halloween comp on the page please Smile

salta · 26/10/2010 23:51

I went to see the Spice Girls in 1998. They were soooooo good. Only pop concert that I've ever been to, mind. Oh yes, apart from obscure folk-rock bands as a teenager, but they weren't half as good and don't count.

ScreamingTerror · 27/10/2010 02:07

Well this evening has been hairy to say the least. Here is one photo taken exactly 10 miles from the house. This is 1 mile from our previous residence where it struck the dam causing a seven car accident and shut the bridge over it down until it can be inspected tomorrow in the daylight. I've seen twisters and funnel clouds around here before BUT this one WINS THE PRIZE! YIKES! Shock

TheNewLegume · 27/10/2010 05:24

Flipping heck, ST! Shock
I can't imagine what that would be like. Thank God you're all well at the end of it.

Merlion · 27/10/2010 06:31

Bibi & Crispy sorry to hear about your Dads.

ST looks scary - hope it is all over for another season

Blush Crispy would love to go but hopefully I will be otherwise engaged in June!

BibiBelle · 27/10/2010 07:09

TS hope you're all tucked up.

Crisp, I feel I've been a tad harsh re concert, sorry. YOU all go & enjoy yourselves & I'll selflessly stay here & look after Merlion [hwink]

hope parental visit goes ok x

salta, I won't even tell you my first ever concert as way too mortifying!

Enya, hope all has gone as well as it could (hugs)

hellish night here between D and the dog would you believe?! She's spooked by high winds so since DH got home at sometime after 1am she's been a bloody pest. DH up since 6am [knackered]

Bloodberrybatbait · 27/10/2010 07:53

Crispy - I worked on a few TT tours before the DDs were born (actuallyy DD1 was concieved on a TT tour [hblush]) They have the most amazing atmosphere thoughsanads of mid to late thirtie women reliving thier youth. I a going to see if I can get a couple of days work on the last part of the tour!

Sorry to hear about poorly Dad's mine is heading that way but refuses to acknowlege it!

We are off to a Bollywood funday this morning which should be fun.

TS - please take cake I had some horrible dreams about that storm and you guys last night!

CrispyTheCorpse · 27/10/2010 08:05

LOL Bibi i am not THAT much of a fan, I actually prefer Robbie and have seen him in concert before, not TT. I really wanted to go to the Spice Girls reunion tour as I reckon that would have been good, but never got round to sorting tix Hmm. PMSL that BlueberryBaby was conceived on Tour - MrBlue had better get that snip in the next few months Wink.
merlion, yes, i think TT will be of little interest to you, although some streaming of the concert may see you through some night feeds Grin

Glad all passed through ok TS, sounds pretty amazing. I hope DH doesn't have too much extra work on now

enya Hope all went ok yesterday and safe flight back. xx

Sorry for another rough night bibi. Not fair when you are supposed to be on hols. DD2 woke at 6am but as i hadn't left her door ajar, she couldn't get out. I went an popped her back in bed and after a small complaint she slept until 7.30 Shock. Fingers x'd they sleep ok at my sisters.

aDarkStarWithStrangeWays · 27/10/2010 08:37

I worked nine consecutive Take That concerts once, as a callow youth. It was pure bloody torture. Listening to their back-to-back murderation of 'Another Brick In The Wall' and 'Smells Like Teen Spirit' (yes really!) did me in.

Was fun crowd-watching though Grin I'd say the make-up was something like:

randy 17yo girls with TT logos lipsticked all over them: 20%

sexually frustrated housewives using their daughters as a beard in order to gop at TT: 65%

muscle marys: 10%

resigned-looking dads shepherding their 8yo daughters past the merchandise: 5%

FjorgynAndHotWater · 27/10/2010 09:08

Where has my post gone??? Confused

We were supposed to be going to the seaside today but after last night's shenanigans DS woke with a nasty nettle-ish rash half way up his back. Drs appointment duly made, then half an hour later the rash was gone Hmm. Sheepishly cancelled appt Blush and now we are off to York to the Railway Museum instead, hurrah Grin

Glad to hear you are safe TS Smile

Love to you all, hope your day is as sunny as ours is promising to be Smile

FjorgynAndHotWater · 27/10/2010 09:16

Doh star, I thought you were commenting on all their cosmetics at first Blush. No wonder you are such a mad strong woman, that experience must have been v character-building Grin

Merlion · 27/10/2010 11:22

We saw Robbie at Live8 and even DH admitted that he is a fantastic performer live if nothing else.

My first concert was Stevie Wonder.

I think DS has been suffering a bit from my feeling sick. This morning I was sat crashed out on the sofa with Thomas on for him and he pipes up 'Mummy turn the TV off and play books with me' Blush [bad mummy emoticon]!

ScreamingTerror · 27/10/2010 11:23

Morning.Smile School delayed but not mommy duty. I should shower now while I have the chance.

Can't wait till day break. I'm going to go drive around and look at the storm damage.Hmm

First concerts...
Can't remember which I saw first The Pointer Sisters or The Go-Gos.Hmm

HippyHippopotamus · 27/10/2010 11:40

hmm, first concert? mine was Five Star Grin, closely followed by Kenny G (who incidentally played his sax whilst wandering around the audience and came over and shook my hand!!) I've had an eclectic taste in music right from the start!
