Chulita · 03/10/2010 17:17

Yea, exactly like us mlic. S went to bed at 7.30 after crying himself to sleep cos I'd had enough of trying to settle him, dd awake at 11, S up at midnight, dd and S up at 2, S in my bed from then on crying/feeding, dd up at 3.30 and 5, S threw up everything at 6, soaked my pjs, sheet and himself, dd awake at 7...and so the day begins.
kkfairy the unpacking's getting there slowly, it's such an effort on no sleep with 2 overtired children.

Chulita · 03/10/2010 19:17

those of you with refluxy babies, what meds are you on? gaviscon does sweet FA, just makes him constipated which gives him pain the other end :(

CakeandRoses · 03/10/2010 19:52

Oh memphis, that sound pretty hellish, you poor thing. Hope things settle down so you can settle in soon!

Both of mine have had reflux, probably partly due to my over-supply of milk.

Tried gaviscon with ds, useless and hard to get it into him as bf. He just grew out of it at around 5-6months.

Didn't bother with docs for dd as it was obvious she had silent reflux and I couldn't be arsed with gaviscon again. Instead we've just tried to prevent it by never lying her totally flat, we prop her crib and change mat up and always put a cushion under her upper body elsewhere, we gave her a dummy and I've done things to lower my supply and slow my letdown. She hasn't shown any signs of reflux for the last 3 weeks but we've carried on with not lying her flat just in case.

Some v good threads on reflux meds on here that are worth a read.

Evening ladies

chulita Rileigh is on ranitadine and carobel milk thickeners for her reflux, we got a great wedge pillow from mothercare which was only £15 and that keeps her propped up in bed. Also you should keep him upright for 20mins after feeds. I found this site very useful hope it helps www.babyreflux.co.uk/?gclid=CMyc0czLt6QCFUH92AodAVjCyw> I had to ask the doc about the ranitadine and carobel

We have 2nd imms on thursday not looking forward to it at all. I am shattered. Rileigh stayed with mil and she wont be going again, she fed her a fecking yoghurt I mean wtf??? I am livid and so is dh. She seems to have had a bit of an upset tum tonight so it will defo not be happening again. I know they mean well but shes not meant to have dairy for ages yet never mind the fact shes not to have bloody food at all. Sorry for the rant but you can see why i'm mad xxx

that is a nice thing to say he is obviously protective of you all mlic. I am livid with her, i know i have been thinking about weaning but after hearing all the advice here we decided to hold off as long as possible x

Gracie123 · 04/10/2010 08:25

Wow stac. That's the reason I don't let PiLs babysit yet. FiL gave DS bitter (yes , dipping his finger in pint and dripping it into his mouth) when he was 3 months and MiL fed him a whole mars bar when he was weaning, despite knowing that we don't give him chocolate and that he had only just started chewing well enough to eat solid food! She then shrugged her shoulders when I wandered why he was refusing dinner Angry
Makes it very hard to trust them to look after kids.

CakeandRoses · 04/10/2010 09:14

stac - grrr, no doubt you're angry. I'd be sooo cross. Did they know you weren't weaning yet?

CakeandRoses · 04/10/2010 10:03

Do any of you swaddle? If so, what are you planning to do from 3 months?

A has pretty much outgrown her 0-3m swaddle but I feel a bit superstitious about losing the swaddle as she's been such a good sleep with it!

I've bought a pekemoe sleep sack but that's for 7 - 13 months so I need to get something else asap. so was keen to know what you guys are going to do/get.

DesperateHousewife21 · 04/10/2010 10:04

stac I would also be livid, what a silly thing to do.

I spoke too soon yesterday, seems Dylans 7 hour stint that night was a one off, he was back to his usual wake at 1ish, then sleep in my bed and woke at 5, 6, 7 etc was hell. I also had a thumping headache as I was so tired so not in the best of moods.

On a MUCH lighter note, I have a sneaky feeling DP might propose next week! I dont want to get my hopes up too much in case it doesnt happen BUT hes got next week off work as its his birthday on Sat. I said to him Im still going to go to my baby groups so I think this has given him an idea (maybe prepare something while Im out and surprise me when I get home??) He's been asking alot of questions about the groups i.e when they start, finish, what days they are etc and he's not usually so interested in them lol.

I really hope Im not wrong ladies! I will keep you posted Grin

Ooh dh sounds promising, finger crossed

gracie it bugs me that they think they know better than us. I know rileigh looks bigger but i think dp or i should have been the ones feeding her iyswim

Aw mlic you in for the flu? Hows ds2 been on the new milk?

Hows everyone else? X

Dh thats so exciting!! Cant wait to hear the story!!
Mlic was only thinkong it was teething cos shes gone mad with the hands in the mouth and she must be loosing half her body water in drool. Shes soaking bibs in no time and constantly chewing her tongue. Shes back in form now again though. Maybe it was just a couple of off days

stac oh my god, i would slam dunk my mil if she did that! a fucking yoghurt, no dairy til 12 months and no weaning til 17 weeks if my hv guidelines (but then she is shit so she could be wrong) what did she say when your jaw hit the floor? my sis said she would feed L chocolate i assured her thats why she will never babysit!!!
dh how exciting try and put it to the back of your mind or thats all you will think about and the next week will drag!!
mlic hope your feeling better soon, would having tonsils out be an option? if you get it a lot? i had mine out and its the best thing i did!
had a fab day at alton towers dh was sick after the nemesis!! i pick up my diamond ring on friday if i get back from work on time Grin

Hi ladies,
Im back from my week in Brum, had a lovely, if not VERY tiring time! I need to catch up with the thread big time, i have read this pg, seems people are talking about routine, mine pretty much went to pot in Brum and poor Devon is still suffering from Colic in the evenings too so thats a real shitter.
I shall make an attempt to catch up tomorrow.
stac What did u say to mil, what an idiotic thing to do!
DH We expect to be the first to know if he does pop the question!!!!!
Mylife thats horrid, hope ur feeling better tomorrow!
memphis Alton Towers is such a good day out, even though i dont go on many of the rides, mega expensive though!
cake I use a sleeping bag and a sheet over the top to tuck his arms in. His room is about 18 degrees now and the bag is 2.5 tog, he never feels too warm and sometimes i even add a celular blanket too. Got my bags from M&Co and Tesco for £10, dont think the grobag/mothercare ones are much better for £25ish.
devons been awake all evening and has hopefully just gone off in his moses, not even the wonder swing put him to sleep tonight, not much crying though just awake. He has 5 bottles of 6oz now as he has dropped his middle of the night feed(hopefully!!) but tonight i could tell he wasnt satisfied so i warmed another bottle and he had a good 2oz of that. he is draining every bottle now, he's 11 weeks on thursday, im wondering if i should up him to 7oz but worried about over feeding, what do u guys think?

CakeandRoses · 04/10/2010 23:08

Welcome back Vik. I wouldn't beat yourself up about any lack of routine. With colic it's all about survival! Ds had it and he didn't have any evening routine until he grew out of the colic as it would have been pointless.

stac i just can't believe how stupid and arrogant some people can be with babies, especially when it comes to food. My family are great and always check if its ok to give ds anything, even now he's 2. Thankfully, my in-laws wouldn't dare cross me, otherwise ds would have been fed all manner of crap by them by now. They seem to think sweets are a staple part of a balanced diet Hmm

tsc you're quiet. all ok? just hungover after your party?

MLIC Poor you, nothing worse than looking after children when you're ill.

DH fingers crossed Smile

needle you ok?

It's my first night out without DH and DCs tomo. Going out for a meal with some friends and sister. Can't wait!

Gracie123 · 04/10/2010 23:47

cakes have you tried a half swaddle? (swaddle baby under the arms)

I started a new thread on feeding because I'm experiencing a problem with bf and exercise. If anyone has a chance to look over and wants to offer some advice I'd be really grateful.

Thanks
x

Morning all, Dylan was awake ALL EVENING last night, he wasnt crying or feeding, just wanted to be up. He finally dropped off at 11, woke at 3, fed and back to sleep til somewhere around 6 or 7.
What happened to 10-5!? That was lovely...

Supposed to be meeting a friend in town today but its going to rain hard, not sure whether to go or not.

DP's dad has offered to look after Dylan for a few hours on Sat (DP's birthday) but we know what he's like in the evening. He'll happily take a bottle but will then cry for the comfort of my boob to go to sleep so a bit worried as to how this will work.
Im planning on cooking a steak dinner and having sex without worrying about waking the baby!

Hey girls- wow been off this for ages- not even posted on this thread yet- so lazy!
Had a brief catch up but still got nappy brain so it not stayed in well!
Sam's routine seems similar to some- he goes down to sleep after feed and bath between 8 and 9, i swaddle him and put him in moses basket and he falls asleep himself (with dummy!) he usually sleeps til 5-ish has feed and straight back down til 7.30-ish. he has a few naps during the day too usually lasting 1 hour. although has been known to sleep 3 hours in afternoon which never affects night time sleep!

cakes we have been thinking about the swaddle issue too- i found a swaddleme graduate by summer on kiddiecare website. sam has the summer swaddle blanket- its like a straight jacket but he sleeps so well in it!
viksam thats a great idea with sleeping bag and blanket as sams arms really flap about if not swaddled up!

gracie i've been back to the gym and yes there has been a difference in supply- never made the connection tho- off to look at your thread!

stac OMG! ANGRY! is rileigh's tummy ok now? poor wee lamb! i have tried to discuss weaning with MIL to get her onside as she still believes 3 months is fine and rolled her eyes when i said i was taking current advice and trying to get Sam to 6 months.

MLIC hope you feel better soon. its awful isn't it? I've been ill since friday and spent most of the weekend on the loo! DH had to work all weekend and had to get family to help with sam as i was doubled over with stomach cramps and bunged up with flu all at same time! Managed to BF through it but Sam now has conjunctivitis. That was just having 1 baby never mind a toddler too- so glad they have been good for you :)

wow started writing this at 7.30! an hour and a half ago!
