HOOORAHHHHH The nipples are better !! Glad to hear it Roosmoo !!

starlover · 16/11/2005 20:50

well, we went out to different toddler group today and it was really scary.
i talked to one person, near the end!

everyone else had lder kids who were running around, and they all knew each other already! so not sure if we'll go again or not.

ooh and to cut a long story short which I probalby went on about down below but neighbour forgot me but then came round and apologised so I may try again on friday. Also might be going to a different group tomorrow pm so have suddenly got v. busy !! which is good !!

Hazellnut · 16/11/2005 20:52

oh no SL - that sounds horrid... that would definitely put me off going again but well done for trying it - I;m not sure I would but maybe you should try it one more time to see if they then recognise you and talk ?!. The one I ahve found tomorrow is for under 2's so at least all the babies should be similar-ish ages...

yeah i don't really know where else to try tbh.
Linus has become a liability at bumps and babes, which technically we shouldn't stll go to anyway.

there needs to be something for the in-between babies!

Who could FORGET Aeneas ? And his University Challenge team...... Not that he'd know me !! He's not your dh is he ?!

Hazellnut · 16/11/2005 21:01

Do you do swimming with Linus SL ?

starlover · 16/11/2005 21:02

yeah they do a jiggle and rhyme time at the library but it's always sooooo packed in there.
my mum works at the library and is always complaining about it too! lol

having said that, i know a few people i vaguely know from hospital /baby massage go... so m ight be worth turning up and trying to arrange some coffee dates!

i am the other way round with the age thing! lol it seems like they were all much older than me. or maybe i have delusions of youth

been swimming once.

god it sounds like i have an excuse for everything... but i used to self harm and have a LOT of scars so feel really self-conscious about it

fair enough SL - although, FWIW, am not sure a group of mums trying to struggle with their babies in a class jumping around would notice but I can understand you're sensitive about it.

i know! you're probably right!
strangely enough i never had a problem going swimming before i had Linus... i just think that people will see me and think that i am a bad mum.

am trying to be brave and not think about it... in fact, i may ring about swimming lessons because he did enjoy it the one time we went! lol

That team were AWFUL weren't they - it was quite amusing to watch from what I remember !!! Mind you would have been quite amusing to have been on it after the event !!

I'm sure someone I did AHA with started off being a medic so would have been your year but left and for some reason then did AHA ... Sharon someone.... mind gone blank but then there were probably loads of people and it would like an Aussie asking you if you knew the queen !!

starlover · 16/11/2005 21:10

yeah you're probably right tipex. i think part of what i am scared of is making friends and then them asking what the scars are... that's happened before and i have lsot friends because of it. I even got banned from someones house because their mum thought i was a bad influence when she found out!!!!

so a lot of my friends don't know about it either, although i wish they did in a way.

you know what? I should be more open about it and that way if i do make friends at least I know they don't mind

Hazellnut · 16/11/2005 21:11

At least you're then getting out, potentially meeting other people and teaching Linus a really important thing.... And although I don't meet up with anyone from my swimming group we do all get on quite well in the lessons and I always think if I ever get my arse in gear to go to a 'group' one of them might be there and be another friendly face !

starlover · 16/11/2005 21:16

yeah, I think I am going to invite some people over here.
I am a consultant for creative memories which sells photo albums and accessories (scrapbooking type stuff).. so was thinking of doing a demo evening and inviting some people over

Thats her Tipex !! Wow - small world !!

Sounds a good idea SL !

roosmum · 16/11/2005 21:20

tipex, i was going to suggest the library too...& it's free, so that's always a bonus!

dh & i don't feel we can do CC with roo, so may well order TBWSAYP, try the PUPD thing if it all gets really really bad again (he went to bed tonight at 8ish, so far quiet...i shd really get myself to bed too...but can't get off the pc!)

SL, trying to think of more things for you & L. do you have a cinema with big scream near you? if you find a mate that's looking for something to do, that's quite nice. different from the usual chat & coffee, whilst babies get bored & climb all over you scenario! also look in library for free taster sessions to otherwise expensive groups (eg kindermusik etc), where you could get chatting. local churches, lots have baby/toddler groups. i've been to 3 different ones, they're all different i think & def some are nicer than others - there's a lovely one on a fri (also free) which i've stuck with. also try groups that you think you might findpeople with common interests, eg i loved baby yoga, tho have finished it n ow. 6 mths ago it was exactly what i needed, & have made friends that also now go to same baby group. what abt bumps&babes people, ones with babies same age as L? see if they have a good diary of stuff to do that you can pinch!

nice when we're all on here tho!

SL, i went to a creative memories demo thingg, it was lovely but too expensive for me to get really into. a friend of mine has got quite into it tho, her album for dd is lovely. how's yours, have you done much? it's something i'd love to do, but dunno when i'd get around to it...
trying bit by bit to get some christmas pressies wrapped...
