Bham uni is sooo big which is why you always meet loads of people that went there and as I was an artsy fartsy student unlikely I would have met anyone as 'sensible' as a medic/chemist (they probably spent their time in lectures anyway rather than my 6 hours a week ).

My NCT lot aren't stereotypically NCT either - they look at me like I'm mad when I say I cook for dd and when I tried (but failed ) cloth nappies!! I love your description of your area SL - just reminded me I used to have a boyfriend in Crawley -well Copthorne.... Gosh we must all be able to connect somehow !!

Just found out the playgroup I was going to go today has a waiting list which is a bit of a pain - ah well !! Have just dashed into kingston and they didn't have the cardi and they rang a few branches and they didn't have it. I got an alternative which might be better - more of a little shrug so wouldn't actually cover the dress up. SL - if you see it let me know but don't go out of your way !!

Sounds like we should arrange a meet up I'd love to meet everyone - trying to think where everyone is - I think me, Goss and presumably BiL are in London, SL in Crawley so that is easy but Tipex in B'ham, Roosmoo in Yorkshire (I think ?) and Nik in E'burgh... and no idea about anyone else who seems to have abandooned us - where are you Futurity, Fruitful, Angeliz, and everyone else (soz for missing anyone).... or do the rest of us jsut spend far too much time on here ?!

gossifer · 17/11/2005 13:18

well, i know starlover tried to do this before, so i will drop the gauntlet (is that right?)

lets meet????

i will travel, and yes hazelnut, i am in london!

i will look for your cardy on monday, will be by a monsoon then, will post on sunday night to check the situation, ok?

xxx

Hazellnut · 17/11/2005 13:48

I have now tried the cardi I bought today with the dress and actually, I think it IS better - will mean the dress will be visible so don't worry gals about the search (and dh will be pleased as the cardi was mothercare and I got 10% off so it cost £9 as opposed to the monsoon one which was considerably more !

Well perhaps I'll start a thread in the meet ups section with a link from here and anyone who is interested can sign up there and then we'll try and work out the logistics.

Hazellnut · 17/11/2005 13:53

right - anyone want to join little ol' me ?!

February Mums meet up

futurity · 17/11/2005 13:54

I'm still here...just been a bit busy..having the bathroom done and house in chaos! Sam fine..crawling like a mad thing and starting to pull himself up. Constantly teething but sleep isn't too bad..he made it until 7 this morning (very rare!)

Blimey, its been busy here. Watching Take That last night and been spending most of the day cleaning up the most disgusting nappies i have ever seen or smelt! May I ask, when you go to baby groups do other mums let their babies be touched by others? Only asking cos at Jo Jingles this pm Polly crawling around wanting to go up to the other children (not at all interested in the music) All the mums there except one gave me filthy looks and kept moving their baby away. I thought it was good for babies to see and be around other babies. Its really got on my nerves. Anyway I'm in Stockport and up for a meet up, sounds like fun.

gossifer · 17/11/2005 15:45

pjsmum, hi! i'd think it peculiar if the little ones didn't crawl around and touch each other!
sound like a weird bunch to me, what a shame!

gossifer · 17/11/2005 15:45

whats all this take that last night??????

starlover · 17/11/2005 16:06

omg that is soooooo weird... i was just on my way back from town and thinking right i MUST organise feb mums meet up! and i come back to find it all started already! hurrah

anyway... i forgot to check monsoon but you got another cardi anyway. do let me know if you change your mind and want me to look again for it though! lol

went to the leisure centre and it looks quite fab.
they have an under 2's activity in the mornings (9.15 start though!). monday is soft play, tuesday bouncing, wednesday bikes and trikes and thursday climbers.
think linus is a bit small for bikes and climbing just yet but the other 2 sound like they could be fun!
they also do swimming lessons. AND if he gets junior membership i think he can do both things free!

oooh i am off to check the meet-up theread... and then i have some questions about poo

OP posts:
starlover · 17/11/2005 16:09

k have been on meet-up thread... back again now

pjsmum... linus LOVES touching other babies. and yes, i do get the same response sometimes... people looking at me like "why are you letting him touch my child" FGS... I think it's great for them to get to know each other.
The people at my bumps and babes group aren't so bad... the kids there are all over each other! lol

anyway onto poo....
i need some information about the children's poo... how often they go, what the consistency is and how much they do!
sorry in advance...

Goss, there was a documentary on TT last night - quite compulsive viewing! I have to add though I was NEVER IN ANY WAY SHAPE OR FORM A TAKE THAT FAN. I used to like heavy metal. Glad we got that cleared up.

nik72 · 17/11/2005 16:11

Fire away, SL - feel like abit of a poo chat (until dd wakes up)

nik72 · 17/11/2005 16:15

Dd goes 2-3 times a day (when she doesn't have vile tummy bug), usually quite runny but occasionally more solid & closer to an "adult" poo. Lots of undigested bits & bobs too, primarily carrot. Aaahh, the joys of cloth nappies - ou really get up close & personal with the poo don't you?

starlover · 17/11/2005 16:18

Linus wa getting very constipated a while back. i figured out it was the weetabix so stopped giving it to him and all was well again.
anyway i started giving him poridge instead and the poo has been gradually getting worse and worse.
he doesn't do one every day... it's maybe every other day or every 2 days and he will do about 3 or 4 in a day! but they're VERY firm and plasticiney (sorry if tmi!) and he will be straining and just a teeny bit will come out

anyway, i thought well maybe it's a wheat/gluten thing... so stopped the porridge as well and all this week he has been completely gluten free. But today we've gone the opposite way! incredibly smelly, yellowy orange, stringy poo! it's almost like breastfed poo only with bits of food in! lol and much smellier

OP posts:
nik72 · 17/11/2005 16:24

Maybe teething? Dd's poo was horrible when she teethed. The smell seems so variable that I can't really relate it to what she eats. She gets constipated if she doesn't drink enough water.

starlover · 17/11/2005 16:28

ooh maybe a tooth at last!
i wonder whether to keep him on this gluten-free diet or not. i might for a bit longer just to make sure.

OP posts:
nik72 · 17/11/2005 16:31

Won't do any harm to stick with it for now I wouldn't have thought .

starlover · 17/11/2005 16:36

who would have thought poo could be so complicated!

OP posts:
starlover · 17/11/2005 17:05

awww i have just been reading everyones birth announcements again! lol
it all seems like yesterday!

Have been reliving it on the slag off edinburgh royal thread.....

Blondeinlondon · 17/11/2005 18:01

Hiya

Starlover - DS is gluten free and seems to be getting on fine. Also egg, nut, dairy and fish free!
Usually doing 4-6 poos a day - excessive but there we go. Consistency varies!! Yuck!

Hazellnut · 17/11/2005 18:40

Sorry for missing you out PJsmum - I knew I would miss someone out and Jolly4 hasn't been around for ages has she ? If anyone else has been missed out too I am sorry too - I think this is why I am now a SAHM - I just don't have the brain capacity to work anymore .

Well I go out and see you have spent all the afternoon talking poo - quite literally !! Something I get a little obssessed about as dd doesn't drink much and have been told the first sign of dehydration is their poo getting hard ! Anyway, dd usually poos a couple of times a day and we get plasticiney poos too - sometimes runnier, sometimes harder and often undigested stuff - whole bluberries look quite odd ! I would Linus's poos do sound like they could be teething ones....

Your leisure centre sounds fab btw !! And PJsmum - Anna is always all over babies too but I don't usually find people mind because thats what babies do isn't it ?! What a funny lot they must be ! I think it probably means your dd is more sociable
