starlover, i think ,lots of mums are like that though, my sister (who has a 2.5 years dd) lived in spain and then came back to london when dd was 5 months and knew no-one with a child, would always really go for it when someone mentioned a coffee etc, now she has an amazing group of friends
i was lucky because i had her, and several other friends with children locally when leon came along;
but i still feel blue sometimes, and i try and get out of the house straightaway
do you go to any groups? we go to singing and swimming, i haven't made any life long friends yet, but you never know........

starlover · 14/11/2005 12:52

yeah we were going to bumps and babes, but linus is really too old for that now, so have just started going to a toddler group.
It's hard because everyone already knows each other!
I'm not great at socialising at the best of times... i just need to be a bit braver i think!

starlover, i know, i'm shy too, that's why mn is so great! but if you push yourself a bit you might be pleasantly surprised, half an hour over a tea/coffee, and you can always run away!
big cuddles and thinking of you, now i must stop lurking on mn and do some work whilst leon is at nursery!

starlover · 14/11/2005 13:05

hehe yes... and we must go out for our walk!
i keep putting it off because it looks a bit cold out

OP posts:
Hazellnut · 14/11/2005 13:22

Am fed up with my lazy day now... boooorrreedd !! Think I will get out for a walk too!
Goss - swimming and singing sounds a bit like our week too !
SL - I think I have finally got my MSN thingy working too like wot we were talking about the other day (I know how much you like good english ) so if you fancy a chat on that at any point let me know !!

gossifer · 15/11/2005 09:31

hi hazelnut, leon loves the singing!

starlover, did you have that walk? how were the ducks? (this is great coming from the woman who only left the house yesterday to take her son to and from nursery, terrible flu!)

Hi everyone
Hope you all had a good afternoon
DS is in bed early tonight as he nearly fell asleep in his highchair!
I am exhausted despite doing nothing in particular today. I should be watching the Simpsons but I'm online instead

Linus seems to keep mittens on ok at the moment... we have them tied to his coat so they don't get lost. he does suck ont hem though, and gets very cross that he can't use his hands!!!

don't worry about the bruises... i think they're all the same! Linus toppled over his brick trolley earlier and has a big bruise down one side of his forehead and a line across the middle!

OP posts:
Blondeinlondon · 16/11/2005 17:29

I've not tried the mittens yet but will probably do the old-style string through the coat to keep them safe

DS will not keep a hat on unless it is very cold but I have bought one that does up under the chin for our Xmas trip to NY

Hazellnut · 16/11/2005 18:09

oooh Xmas trip to New York BiL... sounds wonderful ...

I have just ordered dd's mittens along with some mitten clips (the modern version I think of the elastic through the arms !) so at least they won't get lost if she pulls them off.

Definitely think the bruises are part and parcel of having a 9 month old !! People keep commenting to me 'is that a bruise on her head' - erm yeeeesssss.

Have just realised I have left it a bit late to try and track down the cardi I want for dd for her christening in monsoon... the website don't have her size and home delivery do but it takes 10 working days to be delivered and its a week on sunday. Ooops - am going to have to spend tomorrow ringing around branches and hoping - the 3 I have tried so far do not have it. I planned on being sooo organised for the christening as it was booked so long ago and it is suddenly upon me and I have to cook for 17 and announced a few months ago I was going to make the christening cake as I wanted white choc as our wedding cake was but have I done anything about it ?!..... Oh well will go into panic mode next week !!

starlover · 16/11/2005 18:12

hazellnut... show us the dress... then we can have a look in our local branches and either reserve it for you or buy it and send it to you?

OP posts:
starlover · 16/11/2005 18:12

sorry, the cardigan

OP posts:
Hazellnut · 16/11/2005 18:21

oooh ta..... I do have to try my nearest branch tomorrow as they aren't picking up the phone but if that doesn't work that would be greatly appreciated - its this one... damn the website doesn't take you directly to it, but if you go to childrens, baby girl, knitwear, its the baby kitten fur collar

cardi

I'll update tomorrow with whether I have been able to track it down !! Thanks

Blondeinlondon · 16/11/2005 18:28

Cardi is v cute

Trip to NYC will hopefully be good. We are off to spend Xmas with the inlaws. DS is the first grandchild so it will be lots of meeting and greeting all their chums

starlover · 16/11/2005 18:50

ok.. is it 6-12 you're after?

OP posts:
Hazellnut · 16/11/2005 19:14

oh yes, the size might help !! Yes 6-12 months it is. Will go into kingston tomorrow and then let you know - THANKS !!

starlover · 16/11/2005 19:15

thanks tipex - ah! The bullring.... I was at B'ham uni so it conjures up all sorts of images of the Bullring c. 1993-6.... But I Have been back recently and KNOW its a little different now

LOL at fretting about roosmoo's nipples - there aren't many places you could get away with saying that !

roosmum · 16/11/2005 20:44

hello everyone!

ahh tipex, you're a sweetie! my nipples are looking ok now, just to set your mind at rest
you've even raised a grin from dh, you & hazellnut, with the last 2 posts!!
roo is currently giving the occasional bite, but NOTHING like the awful feeding (non-feeding...) of the weekend. left nip healing nicely, lots of lansinoh plastered on.

roo's sleeping tho, less successful atm, bit of a monster night getting him to bed yesterday, not quite so bad today. will prob wake 2-3 times over the course of tonight. has anyone read/tried baby whisperer? thinking of getting 'baby whisperer solves all your problems' (i WISH!), friend loaned it to me & then had to get in back in a panic when her 10mth old dd played up big style, before i got to read it...

had a fun day today with 5 babies in the house (plus mums!), our regular wed post-natal grp meetup. how's the getting out&about etc going SL? & HN?? did you get to that new playgroup with neighbour yet? anyway, hope you're all feeling ok & babes are happy! btw roo doesn't have any bruises...yet! maybe he's a cautious baby (ie too chicken to give his walker a good go, a la linus!)...

Hazellnut · 16/11/2005 20:46

ooh I was in griffin (not so) close in the first year, then stirchley then Bournbrook road (finally worked out how to live near the university !). Wasn't 'involved' in the Guild but spent a lot of time and money there !! You must have been year above me but there a while as a medic so definitely there the same time as me. can't think of any medics I knew though - I did Ancient History and Archeology... VERY useful !!
