just feeling a bit down really. I was on anti-depressants before, but came off of them when I found out I was pregnant. Anyway, the pg hormones seemed to keep me on track and I felt better than I had for a long time. Even after Linus was born it all seemed to be going ok... but the last few weeks have been feeling a bit gloomy again.
I know I ought to go and see my doctor really before it gets bad again, but I'm not really one for talking about stuff with people in real life!

yeah i really ought to get out and do more exercise. need to lose weight as well anyway! we have a lovely pond to walk around down the road which i ought to go to more often!
Unfortunately we moved to a new surgery just as I fell pregnant. It feels weird because I used to go to a tiny country practice and always saw the same GP, whereas here there are about 8 doctors and I never see the same one! I know they will have my records, but it isn't the same as seeing someone who knows what's going on without having to read it all from the computer!

Maybe I will try the exercise first.

yeah it's so weird going from such a tiny surgery to a big one. Think you're probably right about finding a nice one and keeping them though!
I haven't seen "my" health visitor since Linus was born! We have baby clinic every wednesday but that's a massive affair with 3 health visitors and 2 trainee type people!, so again never see the same one twice.

hi All - sympathies all round with the poorly teething babies - dd has just come down with her first cold and I think is teething and has woken up screaming. Had a bit of a temp at bed time so gave her calpol (for only about the second time ever, I really resist giving drugs but sometimes its best I think !) but is still crying - dh is trying to settle but nothing seems to be working and she isn't a naughty baby at night so feel really bad for her...... ooh dh seems to have had a bit of success...fingers crossed... he is back down..... but there's another yell... its gonna be a long night.

Mind you, as an amusing aside - she didn't seem ill earlier at lunchtime as she eat (having already eaten today 1 weetabix and 2 boxes of raisins), 1 round of sarnies, 1 banana, about 1/2 punnet blueberries, and then started on my pizza (alhtough think she mainly may have been sucking off the tomato sauce and spinach !!)

Glad you've been out and about SL - I too go to a massive surgery but I tend to ask for the same person if I have to go aobut the same thing (eg. when I was pg and afterwards when I kept haivng to go back to check my bp).

Hazellnut · 12/11/2005 21:17

oh and Tipex, yes I am going to be a SAHM !! Bit scarey but only mainly cos people will see me as a 'housewife'... TBH the only person that calls me that is my dh's aunt's partner (with me so far ?!) who is 80 and it winds me up but nevermind !! I had always intended giving up my existing job but thought I might do 'something less boring instead' after a year but have decided I'd prefer to be at home.

So am now in the process of trying to structure my week - currently have activities monday and tuesday, almost always see a couple of friends on friday and will start thsi new group on thursday. amongst this I need to fit in the gym too so shouldn't get bored !! SL - have you started tumbletots yet ? I really want to do this with dd but in London its £8 a session which I think is just ridiculous !!

starlover · 12/11/2005 21:27

haven't heard back from tumbletots yet. no idea how much it costs or anything though!
I may ring them and see what's going on... if it's that expensive we may pass! lol

Oh dear - as predicted a shocking night here !! DD just couldn't sleep and so was only sleeping half an hour at a go until about 6 when we finally worked out that if she was sort of upright she was better so propped her between us in bed and she slept till 8.30 - aargh... just been to tesco and bought everything possible to help a cold ! So much for being against drugs but I think it might help her if she gets a good nights sleep tonight (and me ).

She's fine in herself though today, still cheeky and playing just a dribbly nose (and doesn't like it being wiped !!)....

Hope the teething babes slept better !

pjsmum · 13/11/2005 18:56

SL, we go to tumbletots. Polly loves it. Its a bit of a swizz but it gets me out of the house. You have to join (£20) for the year and for that you get a t-shirt for them to wear at the sessions! Then it £4.50 ish a session but you have to pay in advance termly. Basically i went paid for the first session, then had to pay £40 ish for the rest of the half term and then to book for next half term another £40 odd a few weeks later! Its a lot of money to find!

roosmum · 13/11/2005 22:36

hiya tipex, it's a nightmare (aren't you glad you asked?!)

roo's had 1 1/2 decent feeds today, best one was when he'd just woken up & was v. sleepy, fed normally. other than that, just had lots of biting every time i put him to the breast. i'm fairly sure it's just teething related, but it's pretty unbearable atm! am just abt to go to bed & try a dreamfeed, he went to bed with much crying & NO milk tonight, as he bit every time it was offered to him. cried in dh's & then my arms until he fell asleep, tried to feed him then before putting him down, but no success.
have had to express abt 12oz today due to the lack of feeding - at least my store of frozen ebm will be great!

have also now got some medised & nurofen, so we're armed for the next lot of teething horror...

sleep well all babes!

pjsmum · 14/11/2005 07:26

The session starts with circle time where you sit and sing action songs together. Then you have the chance about half an hour to play with the eqipment. Things likea little ball pool, slide, swing, soft mats. Also get to do backwards rolls. Its ok, don't think its had that much of an effect on her development like they say it will but she really enjoys it. Oh and at the end you go back in the circle sing a bit more and they get a sticker! Bonus! It is good fun.

Hazellnut · 14/11/2005 10:01

Roosmoo - we resorted to medised last night. It seemed to do the trick till 2.30 and then after an hour of trying to get her back to sleep (inc. a second dose) she ended up coming in with us for the rest of the night......... Just hope she doesn't continue doing this once she's better !!

I was supposed to go to and exhibition at the British Museum with an old uni friend today but don't think its fair to drag dd out... mind you looking at her trashing the sitting room at the mo she doesn't seem so ill !! Am going to have a very lazy day instead I think !!

Oh and the neglectful neighbour who forgot me on friday just came round to apologise - she completely forgot so at least she was totally honest and seemed really sorry so I maaaaaayyyyy forgive her....

gossifer · 14/11/2005 12:25

hello everyone
so sorry to hear about the biting whilst bf roosmum, good on you for your determination!
starlover, i have days when i feel really low, constantly criticize everything i'm doing, question my decisions, i find being out and about really cheers me up, and meeting people for a coffee and chat; going back to work has helped a bit; the worst thing is when i try and talk to someone and its' as if i'm the worst mother in the world because i have even dared to say that sometimes being a mum isn't always great, IYSWIM?
a walk in the sun round the pond sounds like a fab idea! also and hour out with a mate over a hot choc/glass of wine? talking about boots/handbags/whatever takes your fancy, but not ds?
if you ever fancy a chat via email mine is [email protected]

hello everyone else!!!!

starlover · 14/11/2005 12:40

thanks gossifer! i think half the problem is that i don't really have any mum friends that i go out with, although i am friendly with some at the toddler group i go to. It's one of those situations where every week someone says "oh we should meet up some time for coffee" but we never seem to get round to it!
my non-mum friends all work or are at uni so that's difficult too!

i should try and make some definite plans with people i think.
We're definitely going for our walk round the pond in a bit though! once i have got rid of the 3rd stinky nappy of the day!
