Veggies the pisshead tonight! I have a sleepy little baby on top of me and can't move. Thought she wanted feeding but she went back to sleep!
I got out of hospital earlier. Hooray!

waitinggirl · 13/08/2010 04:00

yay, summer, for getting out so early!

enjoying veggies' drunken antics.

can't sleep. ugh ugh ugh. no longer fretting about organising the cricket match, but that i am feeling so crap and overweight so early on in this pregnancy. honestly, i feel like i did last time when i was gone 30 weeks. ridiculous.

scan next week - also fretting about mmc. ugh ugh ugh.

LadyThompson · 13/08/2010 04:41

Aw, WG, I'm awake as well. Have been for an hour. MMC - well, if you have got discernible symptoms of pregnancy you are probably ok. But I totally understand your concern. I think the first few weeks of pregnancy are so worrying re: that sort of thing that it really takes the shine off everything. Soothing thoughts to you. Weight - I am a fine one to talk as PD already pointed out, in fact I was berating myself for how much I have scoffed over the past few days and how awful I looked in our pics from the trip (don't mean bump which is quite neat, I mean general fatness) when I first woke up. But listen, if you can find the time and you aren't too tired, long walks every day are so good for stopping the pregnancy weight from getting too marauding. And don't forget how much of it is fluid. But don't let weight gain spoil your pregnancy. I say that as one who worries about it far too much and I wish I didn't, and have to really fight against the thought of spending the next 6 weeks on a diet, which of course I won't as it would be bad for the baby and is also somewhat dysfunctional, when I like to consider myself a well balanced person. Anyway, you need to get your DH to tell you how gorgeous he finds you (bet he does as well) and then you won't feel vulnerable to the flattery of T. And treat yourself to something to wear or some other thing that makes you feel good.

Summer, you are out already - wowzers! That's great! Good luck for tomorrow's scan, Spot. Will be intrigued to hear if we are having our first 'second wave' boy.

Still posting on phone - so annoying. I suppose I should try to get back off to sleep. Not hopeful.

KiwiPanda · 13/08/2010 06:13

WG and LadyT hope you both got some more sleep! WG long walks would be good but also any exercise really - swimming, gentle jogging, cycling.. Anything you feel comfortable with - will not only help stave off weight gain but also make you feel better with those nice exercise endorphins. I genuinely feel much happier person generally when I am doing regular exercise. Of course, my regular exercise is beating up DH twice a week at boxing class so I get marital therapy too Wink

Veggie how's the hangover?? Your DH is better than me, I haven't listened to the podcast yet, but hey, I get to hear DH rambling on without having to download anything .. I will ask him re Arsenal later, he is currently downstairs getting DD her breakfast while I lounge in bed. He is rather well trained Wink

KiwiPanda · 13/08/2010 06:49

Oh, can I have a small rant about nursery food? I pay £80 a day and they give her endless crap like chips and quavers (!!) and chocolate cake. No wonder she's suddenly got all picky at home where she used to eat everything. Also because she's vegetarian she seems to end up having the same bloody thing every day. I think their chef must have changed because i swear it used to be more varied (and more healthy).

Beans33 · 13/08/2010 08:50

Oh Kiwi - that is annoying...

Veggie - enjoyed your drunkenness as well - v amusing.

I didn't say anything to DH in the end as he apologised himself. Plus have decided that I need to start exercising myself, so am going for a run on Sunday, then will try getting up at 6ish 2 mornings a week to get fit. And DH can do the nippers first thing - ha! He doesn't believe I'll do it. I don't really either. Oops. But worth a go.

WG - try not to worry too much about weight gain. And lady - you too. It's just something that happens when up the duff. Unless you're one of these beautifully naturally slender types like Pubes! Look at Catherine Zeta-Jones - she got more than one chin during pregnancy and she's too skinny now!! I am keen to lose another stone, though as although am back to pre-preg weight, I was a stone or so overweight when I got up the duff 2nd time!

Does anyone else's DC have long conversations with you in a language you don't understand? DD1 does this the whole time, putting in conversational inflections and laughing at what she's saying, then with the odd word I know in, like "hello" or "morning" or "potty" or something. It's v sweet, but a bit frustrating. I try to join in and agree or say "Yes, I think it was Tuesday" or something like that!

SL - you're home already! That's amazing! How are you coping? I love the sleeping baby on you feeling. I tend to do it after her night feed as DD1 gets bored when I'm doing it in the day! Little warm body all curled up - total trust and vulnerability. It's heaven!

Now, Pubes - I reckon I'm up to coming to visit you soon - how about 2nd Sept - could come in the morning? Lady or Sybs are you around then as well?

Kiwi I user to get miffed at DS1's nursery diet. He was veggie too & instead of offering a veggie option they just took the meat out. One of his meals was pasta and sweetcorn because they took the tuna out. They also offered quavers & crisps which I thought wasn't good for snack everyday for 8month+ children.

No nasty hangover just very sleepy. DS2 was up a lot again last night. I have reinstalled the late night feed (made sure it was 1.5 hrs after my last mojito) but we have just noticed this morning that he has his last 4 teeth coming through all at once so I think that may be the prob.

Poor DH he is so desperate for football talk that he listens to the podcast as soon as it cones out. I have just discovered one of my new friends hubbys is a Liverpool fan so we are going to try to sort something out for Sunday.

LadyThompson · 13/08/2010 10:12

Quavers, chocolate cake...sounds like DD's diet, she'd probably enjoy your DD's nursery! Seriously though, KP, you should definitely complain, I reckon, and firmly.

I got back off to sleep again after 5. I have to go into Oxford today to meet DH's Dad and Auntie, which is lovely, but I am so tired and the winding one hour bus journey makes me feel so sick at the mo.

Beans, I could well be around on the 2nd but trying to book my final scan for around that time so not sure yet.

Not got time for the big catch up today! I was just glancing at some other threads on the wider MN and really, really getting wound up. I do forget what a bunch of self righteous, spiteful old berks you can come across here (on occasion) - because our thread is so lovely. I think there are a couple of topics I am going to have to block for the sake of my blood pressure! I am pleased with myself though as made Herculean attempt to step away from the keyboard and not get involved with these toxic, annoying threads (usually it's more than I can resist)...

Ooh, Veggie, I do love a Mojito. I also like a Caipirinha. Not at the moment, of course.

EffiePerine · 13/08/2010 10:44

Lady: I rarely look at the wider MN these days. I can't be arsed, frankly. And bring rude for the sake of it simply isn't funny. Maybe I'm just getting old and reactionary.

EffiePerine · 13/08/2010 10:45

And WTF is that Kenwood advert? I doubt 8 out of 10 MNers would pay out for an expensive blender...

EffiePerine · 13/08/2010 10:46

And don't get me started on Labour hustings on MN...

LadyThompson · 13/08/2010 11:08

Yes, I do sometimes worry I am turning into Kingsley Amis, Effie, but it probably comes from reading The Times Grin Mind you, DP is SOOO FRIGHTENINGLY reactionary that I am a militant anarchist in comparison to him, so I forget how reactionary I really am...

Rubena · 13/08/2010 11:15

Hello, not too much time here as loads to do, but so lovely to see LadyT yesterday and looking fabulous I might add - in fact not looking like an ounce of weight has been gained since our last meet Hmm You are very kind Lady, but make no mistake people, I am not looking glamourous and still have a 6 month preggo belly as my uterus is still up around my belly button I think! Just some creative dressing, and a recent trip to the salon helped me out!
Another long night here - I swear this little girl is on Australian time! Thanks for the words about the feeding and tongue tie thingy. I'm still in pain for the first 20 seconds or so but hoping this appointment will fix it all fingers crossed. Thanks Vag - yeah I'd like to try at least 6 months worth like I almost got to with ds - but like you say, I won't if it continues to be too difficult after she has it snipped.
PD - nice to hear from you and yes i was told that by only one midwife (that the severity of the tt is no indication of how difficult it will or won't be) but the rest just seemed to have the attitude that it's probably not the cause, although I strongly feel it is so we shall see.

Summer - lovely picture of the little one on FB - very cute. can I have your address FB-ed to me please? Glad you escaped the hospital - sorry you didn't get the vbac you wanted (nutter) but glad you sound very upbeat about the outcome, and she is very very cute Smile
Right have to go now as loads to do now that they are both asleep [bliss] back later.
Oh and Beans - my parents are here until the 4th so perhaps the following week would be easier? Can pretty much do any day that following week? let me know - love to see you and lady, and Sybs and anyone else who can come Grin

EffiePerine · 13/08/2010 11:16

Could be worse - turning into Evelyn Waugh? I feel more like WH Auden in old age. Cross but slightly wistful.

EffiePerine · 13/08/2010 11:18

Can someone fb me Summer's address as well? May need to go stalk JJ.

Beans33 · 13/08/2010 11:31

Yes, I'd like it too please!

Lady - I'm terrified of wider MN - there are so many militant wimmin. And in fact, just plain cows out there! It's scary. Surely live and let live. And supporting other mothers should be the name of the game??!

Pubes - I thought this might make you laugh (and glad about your less forceful tits!) - I got naked to have a shower this morning and looked down to find my right nip squirting out 3 prongs of milk and my left one a less impressive 1 spray. It was quite disgusting. And went a long way! DH was astonished! And my word, they were hurting. Because I'm trying to give up 10.30 feed so he can do it! I only fed off left one at 4am, so they were fit to burst. And they clearly were!!!

LadyThompson · 13/08/2010 12:01

Groans - I missed my bus! I will now be late for lunch and won't be able to tell them as my FIL won't use the mobile I bought for him (grrrr) I have SL's address but will fb it when I get back.

Waugh and Auden - yes. Be grateful it's not Pound Grin I read his book about reading and I actually nod nowadays.

Right, REALLY must dash.

Veggiemummy · 13/08/2010 12:16

Oh sorry you missed your bus Lady what a pain!

Went the the park with a friend & her kids this morning which was nice. DH came along and took DS1 skateboarding at the ramps they have at the park so was nice to not have to watch them both. DS1 has been watching that Mighty mites show and they had skateboarding on it that's where he got the idea to go this morning. He is watching it again now, I've no idea why but that Sarah-Jane chick really annoys me, she looks like she needs a good meal!

JumpJockey · 13/08/2010 12:19

Anyone who wants SL's address, send me an FB message (I'm sure she won't mind, muahahaaaa! Wink)

Rubena · 13/08/2010 12:19

Beans!! PMSL! can't say I have had that problem. They do get sore if I express in the arvo but I usually feed off one side and then express off the other around about the same time so only one gets explode worthy My friend has that same amount of supply you have it sounds. She was at the docs getting the 8 week jabs or whatever week they were and they advised feeding straight after or whatever and when she went to feed she forgot to chuck muslin over opposite boob, and sprayed the GP in the eye!!!!!! She said it wasn't just a fountain it was a damn fire hose!!! Grin and Blush she was mortified but gee I laughed at that story!
Oh lady sorry about your bus!

Rubena · 13/08/2010 12:21

JJ - got it thanks!

Veggiemummy · 13/08/2010 12:32

Oh Pubie your poor friend, but that is hilarious.

Aargh I think I need another coffee.

Gosh I really need to get Rubs & summers addresses, I'm so far behind!

spotofcheerfulness · 13/08/2010 12:35

It's a boy Grin

Rubena · 13/08/2010 12:37

WOW!!!! YAY! you were very in tune with it all then Spot!! Congrats for you - now FB me your address!!!!!!! I'm waiting......

EffiePerine · 13/08/2010 12:38

Hooray Spot! Now you just need to agree on a name. Aubrey and Gabriel from my list are still up for grabs Wink
