Thanks! It's funny, I now feel suddenly like, 'oh, now I'm never going to know what it's like to have a girl' as we're def stopping at 2. I only wobbled in my conviction this morning when I suddenly thought, 'what if I'm wrong'? But no, apparently his willy was very obvious (which I guess is a good thing, non?). He's already got my nose though, as has T Sad.

spotofcheerfulness · 13/08/2010 12:43

I like Gabriel, but it's the name of an ex GF of DP's so no go there. I like your DS1's name, it's on my list if that's ok!

Beans33 · 13/08/2010 12:47

Oh lovely news, spot! Hurrah! When's your due date?

I'm feeling very very guilty. DD1 has gone off her food of late and I've been getting more and more frustrated by her rejecting what I've made for her. Today she had lovely spag bol I'd made and tried to throw it off the table. All she wanted was her bloody "Sheepy" and to suck her thumb. I purposely hadn't given her any snacks since breakfast and all she'd had was juice. She was screaming and crying in a tantrum, so I gave her Sheepy and she still tried to chuck the food off the table.

I ended up shouting at her and putting her to bed with no food. I've tried being reasonable, or giving her an alternative. I've also just moved onto pudding as well. But I'm just getting furious with the constant no no no of it. I'm not going to give her any snacks this afternoon and hopefully she'll be really hungry by suppertime and will actually eat it. Is that harsh? It recommends it in my book I've got about it. And my friend did it with her daughter, who now eats everything!!! Just getting cross with it all. And don't want to be cooking if she's not going to eat it.

Lady apologies as I know the problem isn't as bad as yours, but I'm feeling really guilty that I shouted at her, when she was clearly quite upset.

OP posts:
Rubena · 13/08/2010 12:58

I don't think it's harsh Beans. I am feeling a bit the same actually as I also shouted at ds this morning as he started kicking me and he was right next to dd and then kicked her carry cot and I got really annoyed and and yelled at him, then he buried his head in the pillow and burst into tears. It's hard as when mil is here with him (yesterday) he gets non-stop attention and then when it's just me, there's only so much I can give him and he gets really cross.
He is still asleep but probably means a very early rise tomorrow Hmm

Spot I have FB-ed you - sounds good. the 2nd week in Sept works for me as my fam are leaving the Sat before. Hopefully Sybs, Beans and Lady can come too!

Veggiemummy · 13/08/2010 13:01

Oh Beans, I think whatever we say your going to still feel bad about shouting at her, just know that we have all been there so either all our kids are going turn out messed up, or in the grand scheme of things it us such a small thing and will be ok. Also I think leave her without snacks and maybe give her dinner a teeny bit earlier, maybe half an hour so you don't end up having to put up with her ratty because she's too hungry. This sounds terrible but we used to give DS1 his lunch at 2pm sometime because he be so ravenous he would eat anything. Please know I feel your pain.

Hooray for a boy on the thread!!! I know how you feel Spot, it does seem weird that I will never have a daughter but I can't express enough how much I love love love having 2 bots.

Veggiemummy · 13/08/2010 13:02

Ooops clearly I meant 2 boys, as much as I feel like I have 2 bots I don't enjoy it.

spotofcheerfulness · 13/08/2010 13:04

It's New Year's Eve, Beans.

Your eating situation sounds like the one I had yesterday with T - is DD teething? He will sometimes eat nothing at all (even pudding) if he's teething or sickening for a cold. But he won't say that (because he can't, obviously) so he'll just throw his food across the table and generally wind me up. I shout too and feel bad, I think it's a proper button presser. I try and give T leftovers from our meals though so there's less of the "I made that for you, you ungrateful little tyke" etc...

spotofcheerfulness · 13/08/2010 13:06

Grin at two bots. Wear some nice loose fitting trousers, no one will know...

Beans33 · 13/08/2010 13:11

Thanks all. It is so annoying. And I know it won't matter in the big scheme. She is fast asleep now, so was clearly tired too. DD isn't teething, though - she got them all at about 10 months! I think it's probably a reaction to new sibling as much as anything.

Will see how she is when she wakes up and if she's hungry, will offer her a grape or 2, but that's it. Or should I just go cold turkey and wait til half an hour earlier supper Veggie? I reckon your plan is good!

I laughed at 2 bots too! I feel like I've got about 4 mine's so baggy!!

Ooh, NYE baby - that would be brilliant. Imagine the 18th and 21st!!!

Going for a run on Sunday morning. Wonder what I'll do with my boobs as they won't fit in my sports bra and this largeness is definitely temporary, so refuse to buy a bigger one!!

OP posts:
spotofcheerfulness · 13/08/2010 13:14

BEans for my first run after T I wore a normal bra and a sports one on top. What I wasn't prepared for was the state of my pelvic floor though (in retrospect I went too early, at about 5weeks post partum). You might want to pack a tena just in case Wink

I just gave T grapes yesterday afternoon (and a dose of ibuprofen) and he had his dinner half an hour earlier and he ate it all!

Hello, I am going to try and post birth story quickly while my parents are out as will be rude otherwise.

So Jam was right, everything started on Tues night/Weds morning, I woke up for a wee at about midnight and just before I got out of bed felt a bit of a pop, and did wonder if that was something, went for a wee, got back to bed and then it became obvious that it was my waters as they started dribbling out. And hurrah there was no meconium this time.
Called the hospital and they told me to come in.
So got in about 12:30. Talked to the hospital and it became obvious that all the stuff they go on about being flexible about continuous montitoring with a VBAC, etc is bollocks as they wouldn't let me. Which didn't really bother me apart from they tell you they have mobile monitors and they don't, and they won't let you in the pool with the montiors (obviously). They did say that they would keep me off the monitors until i was in established labour though. By now contractions had started and were getting quite strong. They put me on the monitor and all was good, regular contractions and happy baby. They did an exam and I was 0cm dilated though! Boo.

So then they said I could come off the monitor and go for a wander around. By now I was feeling a bit crappy and threw up everywhere but still decided to put TENS machine on and go for a wander around. So DH and I went for a wander round hospital for about an hour or so. Until contractions were getting painful enough that it was embarrassing and I wanted to make noise and so we went back to the birthing bit.

This was now the worst bit for me. I think I was due to be examined again at 3:45 and I didn't want to ask for an examination early as then they would fuss and put me on the monitor but things were getting v painful and i was wondering how I would cope and I felt like a wuss for asking for gas and air when they hadn't figured out I was in established labour (didn't know if they would give it me anyway, plus I was scared of gas and air after hallucinatory experience last time). SO I just made a big fuss and cranked up teh TENS. Main problem was that it was quite painful between contractions and they were close together as well so I wasn't getting much break.
Anyway when they checked me at 3:45 or so I was 4cm. I was very disappointed with this as i was secretly hoping I was about 8 (haha, opimist me!). But this meant that I was in established labour and so they said it was good!
So discussed with them how I was doing and said that I would think about pethidine and they also got the gas and air out but i didn't start using it as I was still scared of it. However, things got better as things seemed to space out and feel like they were actually doing something somehow. I was sitting on a ball though and standing up between contractions and they seemed worry that I would get tired, as a wee test had shown I had ketones in urine meaning I had no glucose supplies left. Time to break out the haribo at the instistence of the midwives.
Eventually contractinos got a bit longer so started using gas and air and discovered that this stuff is magic! Should have Ace, much happier. TENS machine ace as well though.
(Right posting this now as parents reappeared!!) Sorry it is long but I thought I would past full details as wg wanted to know. YES it does end with having a baby!

Veggiemummy · 13/08/2010 15:40

Damn your parents SL I was really getting into that (and remember the sweet feeling of Gas & Air aaahhh my friend)

EffiePerine · 13/08/2010 16:17

Oh the wonderful G&A. How I loved it!

Waiting for the next installment - it's like the People's Friend ;)

spotofcheerfulness · 13/08/2010 16:49

SL - don't worry about being rude hurry up and tell us the next bit!

Can I get your thoughts on my longlist of names, please? Esp any you think would go particularly well with Thomas?

Samuel
William
Edward
Benjamin
Joseph
Daniel
Alexander
Jude
Patrick
James
Francis
Christopher (Kit)
Noah
Louis
Luca

JamInMyWellies · 13/08/2010 16:51

Oh bugger where is the rest Summer.

Can someone FB me her address?

JamInMyWellies · 13/08/2010 17:04

Oh and forgot to say SPOT, lovely news. Boys rock. Ignore all my whinging and moaning I just have monsters. Grin

EffiePerine · 13/08/2010 17:15

Spot: the more Ws the better. What about David? I like it, DH said it was 'too Welsh'. Another one I
like is Xavier, as long as you don't do what my sister's friend did and call your son Xavier pronounced 'EXavier'. And then complain if people call him Xavier. Because of course his name isn't from the saint, or a French name, or anything rational, but off some bloke from the telly who can't pronounce his own name either.

Veggiemummy · 13/08/2010 17:16

Wow quite spooky your longlist resembled mine almost exactly except I also had Ethan, Jeffrey & obviously DS2's name. Particular fav's that DH wouldn't let me have were Louis, Luca & Francis. Oh and I really love Patrick.

SL come back now women.

We have decided that this weekend we are going to move the boys & ourselves from the 2 bedrooms downstairs up to the bedrooms upstairs. The backroom will become our crap storage room while our old room will be the guestroom/playroom. Of course being DH & I we have suddenly decided to move it all up now at 6pm! I think we'll manage to get DS1's bed up there but will def have to do the rest tomorrow.

EffiePerine · 13/08/2010 17:18

X-posted! I love Patrick, I think it's a great name. Daniel is one of DS2's middle names, and Dan is a good short. Benjamin is DH's name so we had to rule it out!

Veggiemummy · 13/08/2010 17:21

We had the same conversation when DH & were considering Xavi for DS2, however I thought it was spanish? I'm not sure why

LadyThompson · 13/08/2010 17:31

I don't think you REALLY want me to pitch in with my boy names, do you people? Grin Congrats, Spot, and you knew all along! Even I wasn't 100% sure until they said so at the scan.

I have already said that my best boy name is Julius but no one likes that, ho ho. I also like Edmund a lot but we already have one of those on here. I am not very good on boy's names, somehow, but here we go:

Marcus
Hugh
Bertie
Felix
Er, Charles (am running out now)
Oswald
Noel
Robin

I will shut up now as I sense you are all holding up your hands in horror Grin Looking at that little lot I think I must only like the sort of names that belonged to 1930s types with floppy hair and a cravat.

Summer, I have just walked through the door and by the time I have tidied up a bit and made a coffee, I hope to be able to read the next chapter!

LadyThompson · 13/08/2010 17:36

Oh, and I will get around to posting about the dietician tonight on the offchance that any tips might be of use to someone!

EffiePerine · 13/08/2010 17:37

I admit to being unkeen on Noah. But then if I had my way, DS2 may well have been a Gustave or a Conrad. DH looked at him the other day and said, 'We should have called him Otto'.

Moral of the story: never trust our judgement when it comes to names.
