Hope this works for everyone - I'm assuming Summer won't give birth in the next few hours!! x

OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
EffiePerine · 12/08/2010 08:47

Beans: totally agree. Put your foot down and say mornings or evenings but not both. And if he does do both it means a half day at the weekend when ge looks after the DDs and you have a rest. Absolutely not on.

KiwiPanda · 12/08/2010 09:12

Beans You are not being unreasonable AT ALL. Not only SHOULD he spend as much time as possible with his kids, but he should surely want to, as well. What you do - looking after two kids - is a LOT harder than being in the office all day, you should make him spend a few days as solo parent to see how it feels. I gave DH a bit of a telling-off last night when he made a very minor complaint about having looked after DD for an hour and a half in the morning (I've been leaving for work super early) and then cooking supper in the evening for us too Wink - so you can imagine what short shrift training swims and nights out would get in my house.

Nolda · 12/08/2010 09:35

Rubes Hope the appointment for the tongue tie comes through quickly and that it sorts things out for you. Glad you had a good pampering at the salon, you deserve it.

WG Yay, for your friends 'magic baby'. Re T, I agree with Veggie and PD, flattering but dangerous. It is good to hear that you have found couples counselling helpful, but of course as you say, your issues were different. Thanks for your kind offer of more info, I may take you up on that later if that?s OK. For now, I?m waiting to hear what DH?s GP says tomorrow.

Nice to see you PD hope you had a good holiday. You and LadyT really made me smile. I particularly liked, my thighs don't define me but they are certainly very tangible. (The less said about my thighs the better!)

Summer Very impressed that you are back posting already. I think it took me about 2 weeks to tell you all that DS had been born. Though this is also a reflection on the lack of technology in the Nolda household.

Beans He has got to be told. Put your foot down.

Plan for the day is lots of washing and ironing. DH and I are setting off tomorrow on the long drive up to Lincoln for my cousin's wedding on Saturday and the DCs are staying with my MIL. Could do without this trip but will be nice to see my dad's side of the family.

EffiePerine · 12/08/2010 09:59

Ooh, where is the wedding? I was brought up not far from Lincoln. It's an odd place, but I think some of the weirdness has been ironed out by the new university.

Nolda · 12/08/2010 10:11

Effie The wedding is actually outside Lincoln in a village called Holton-cum-Beckering. My dad grew up in Lincoln and I haven't been there since I was about 15 which was the last time I saw my grandma (who may have been the source of the weird!?!). We are hoping to arrive in time to see the Cathedral etc.

EffiePerine · 12/08/2010 10:26

There us a whole world of weird in Lincolnshire! My parents are in Louth (Capital of the Wolds) which is where I grew up. There's a really good bookshop in Lincoln too at the top of Steep Hill (ie the cathedral end).

Nolda · 12/08/2010 11:27

Will definitely check out the bookshop, if I have time. Bookshops were something my dad and I liked to do together so would be very fitting.

EffiePerine · 12/08/2010 11:40

Nolda: it's called the Reader's Rest and is at 13 Steep Hill. Rooms and rooms of second hand books.

DeidreBarlow · 12/08/2010 11:49

At work and not much time to catch up but wanted to say CONGRATULATIONS to summerGrin.

What a beautiful name, take it easy xx

Veggiemummy · 12/08/2010 12:08

Ooh I didn't know Lincoln was weird. A friend lives there and we used to catch up in Nottingham while I lived in Derby. I visited her in Lincoln once and thought the town was pretty but was only there a couple of hours.

PD I think we were an hour and half from you in France. I love 'not bad' made me snort my coffee this morning. DS2 has started pointing at every flower he sees and going 'hua!' which is flower in Mandarin. He was pointing at DHs bowl of noodles yesterday saying Hua over and over. DH was saying 'no it's a bowl' sorry no idea what that is in Chinese. Finally I pointed out that there are poppies on our bowls. So DH wrong DS2 right. On the negative side though, we went to a Chinese supermarket this morning and it seems DS2's theivery has escalated. I caught him trying to walk out of the store with a bar of Jasmine soap!

Veggiemummy · 12/08/2010 12:11

Oh and like DS1's wallet the soap was up his shirt.

PD so great if you can come. I'm still waiting to hear back from Bisou. Might give her a poke on FB about it.

EffiePerine · 12/08/2010 12:24

Ha ha! DS2 tries pinching stuff but hasn't worked out how to hide it yet! Although he took one of DS1's toys yesterday and prompted scooted under the table to play with it. I found DS1 pointing at him in an aggrieved manner while DS2 was safely wedged against the wall chuckling to himself.

Veggiemummy · 12/08/2010 12:40

They're are becoming little jokers aren't they!

Hey Pubie, how are the boobies? You know you were talking about weighing up the pros the other day, I think it's fantastic that your keeping at it and hopefully this Tongue tie thing will sort stuff out, but in the end being persistent is great but what makes you keep going is whether you want to. You know I'm pro breastfeefing in a big way but I'm not pro suffering, if it doesn't work out your not a failure. That's not assuming it won't though I just don't want you suffering because you think you should keep going. Also on the birth weight thing. I know it's a number they like to cling to but really it's not completely accurate, had she passed her meconium before they weighed her?

KiwiPanda · 12/08/2010 12:43

Rubs I have sort of skipped pages of chat so I have also missed the difficulties with feeding - is it painful? Could it be thrush? I always go on about this but I had it for weeks and it was agonising, is incredibly common but almost never diagnosed, and extremely common if you have had antibiotics in particular. But perhaps that's not a possiblity anyway?

waitinggirl · 12/08/2010 12:53

thanks for all the advice re T. yes, i agree - dangerous. also exactly what my rl friends said when it was happening. and the reason he asked about my name was that it all happened 9 years ago and we haven't seen each other since then.

having said all that he is now fb messaging me and it turns out he lives around the corner. the weirdness never stops, does it?

KiwiPanda · 12/08/2010 14:24

WG When did he move around the corner?? Is it stalking you Wink??

LadyThompson · 12/08/2010 15:57

Just waiting for DP to turn up so I can grab DD off him and he can go to his meeting. Had a lovely long lunch with Rubes who looked marvellous and her DD who is totally, totally scrumptious. As I said, if I wasn't clackered already I would be thinking about it pretty sharpish after seeing her Grin so anyone planning to see her in the near future, you have been warned! At some point this evening I will finally get home and may even do a catch up, though am out all day tomorrow. But then things calm down for a while (I say that, though we will actually be madly doing the house). WG, take care as he sounds a little toxic. Summer, how are you doin'?

KiwiPanda · 12/08/2010 15:59

Oh Veggie this is the dress I have by Farhi. It is lovely.

waitinggirl · 12/08/2010 18:46

glad to hear rubes is back to her usual glamorous self with barely a glitch for childbirth

ladyt - think you might be right. had a tentative fb chat msg conversation and he has already said "glad to see you've lost none of your sassiness" after a completely innocuous comment of mine. twat.

wanting to hear about summer's birth

kiwi - looks lovely.

spotofcheerfulness · 12/08/2010 19:36

Eurgh, rasping sore throat, I sound like Mariella Frostrup. Anyone wants me to do a voiceover I'm available at very reasonable rates but only for 24 hours (hopefully).

WG,he sounds like a total disaster zone. Can you defriend him or are you worried about bumping into him?

I am reet fed up of looking at houses, I feel it's all we do. We've seen hundreds! I want Phil and Kirsty to come and sort us out but DP is having none of it.

Beans you are totally NBU about your DH, sounds like he needs things spelling out though. A full-on stropette would not be out of order.

Hello poison! I liked your cheerfulness-enhanced musings. I can just imagine your DD saying that - you've got a blonde mini-me there!

Actually throat is v painful, all I can do is take paracetamol, strepsils and gargle at the minute, is that right?

Willy confirmation tomorrow. Am excited!

KiwiPanda · 12/08/2010 21:06

Spot oh me too - I want Phil & Kirsty and we've only looked at a handful so far... Did you watch location x 3 just now. 5 bedroom house for 210k in St Leonards.. God that depressed me. I reckon in London that would buy a one bedroom rabbit hutch in Turnpike Lane. No straw, latch needs WD40, neighbour is Pit bull terrier.

LadyThompson · 12/08/2010 21:30

KP - don't know if you noticed but they were 2006 prices so that's why they might have seemed cheaper, I dunno. Sorry for all those house hunting in London - I know what a conundrum that is. Which areas are you both considering, Spot & KP?

Veggiemummy · 12/08/2010 23:28

I've have one or five mojitos so can't really remember anything I've read, something about Phil & kirsty, stropettes, sassiness & paracetamol. Bizarrely I am sitting here in our livingroom have just gotten home from a cocktail night with the girls and can hear Kiwi's DH talking. My DH is listening to the ipodcast thingy. Kiwi can you ask him what will Arsenal do this season, he is the human Paul the octopus after all I trust him...I think.

WG defriend him...now. Hey is it just me or us anyone else tempted to have a sneaky look at WG's friends to see if you can work out who the blaggard is???....probably just me isn't it.

Veggiemummy · 12/08/2010 23:30

Kiwi I want that dress please. I also really liked the dress from Toast that you featured in your column this week but it's a little pricey for a christening I think.

Veggiemummy · 13/08/2010 00:06

PD if only you were on the vino tonight. Right must go to bed, it's 1am here and I've got a playdate at 9.30am with the boys!
