Ok, DP walked in with two bunches of flowers and two bags of Waitrose shopping including a nice supper Grin Three cheers.

Veggie, I presume you are having an Indonesian takeaway tonight? Hope the DS1 new room thing goes off ok.

JollyBear · 13/08/2010 21:06

I know how you feel ladyT, I am having a rubbish Friday night. I've just finished off some work on the 3rd draft of the report from my old job, I keep having to stop and switch washing into the dryer as DH had managed to run out of socks, and I'm boiling up a chicken carcass for stock. BORING! Oh and when I roasted a chicken for DD and DH I forgot to put anything veggie in for me and only noticed when I realised my plate only had mashed potato and veg on it. I felt very sorry for myself.

spot Hurrah for a boy! I always wanted a sister and therefore like the matching sibling sex combo. I don't know why (maybe because I had two brothers!) I just imagine that siblings of the same sex have more in common.

Oooh names. DH is v stubborn on names and hates all the ones I like. I liked both lists. I love Bertie but it sounds weird with our surname. Oswald is the name of DD's bear.

ladyT Most amusing DD calling you lady! Reading before two years old is very impressive Wink.

DD and I were at her little playmate's house the other day and his mum and I thought we could smell poo. We were discussed which one it might be when DD went over to the little boy, tried to pull his trousers down and saying 'ohh' and holding her nose. The funny thing was it was her who had done a poo! Anyway, off to bed.

P.s Veggie could you email me Summer and Rubes addresses if you have them? I'm not on FB. Must get with the 21st century at some point!

LadyThompson · 13/08/2010 21:10

Boiling up a chicken carcass is not a acceptable Friday night activity, our JB, and neither is washing socks Grin I hope you have a more razzamatazzy Saturday to make up for it. Night.

As for Invis, I am glad you are having a rest.

JollyBear · 13/08/2010 21:16

Actually we are out tomorrow night for a friend's 30th so that should make it all better. How lovely of your DP, flowers and food, what a man!

Must go and drain my deceased chicken. I never would have imagined in a million years I'd ever cook a chicken, never mind boil the corpse.

Veggiemummy · 13/08/2010 21:44

Lady we mixed it up a bit this week and had Indonesian on Tuesday, ooh get me! We had planned to go out tonight so had takeaway earlier in the week. However, I was feeling a little peeky tonight after my big night out lastnight so we've postponed until tomorrow night. DH cooked instead.

JB I don't have them yet will FB lady for them then pass them onto you.

JamInMyWellies · 13/08/2010 21:55

Oh I love Kit Spot and I am a big fan of Edward still regret not calling DS2 that.

And bolloxs to the not Scottish name. I was born and bred up until 14 in Scotland and I have given both my horrors a Scottish moniker.

On the horror front they have both been quite nice today even managed to get them both to nap at the same time so I watched a bit of telly and painted my toenails.Grin

Rubes how is your boobie today?

Lady funny that O called you Lady.

Effie I hope you managed to put the children to bed without dropping them and are now nicely settled on the sofa with a glass of cheerfulness.

Inis I too have done a whole lot of noting this wk it has been rather nice to not be rushing around.

Beams my love dont be too hard on yourself I got so cross with DS1 this wk that I smacked him. Major guilts as I have always been quite sanctimonious about not smacking and when I did it he thumped me straight back and so he should horrible mummy that I am. But what I mean is we all do things in the heat of the moment we regret and DD1 will not remember that you got cross.

Right got to dash just got home from the gym, see I win the most boring Fri eve spent in a pilates class then swimming lengths. I ordered a load of bikinis and need to do a try on fashion show and decide if I am sending them all back and wearing a burkha on holiday instead.

Happy weekends all.

SUmmer I expect further instalments by Sunday evening.

sybilfaulty · 13/08/2010 22:36

Spot, many congratulations on your boy, and glad you are pleased. I loved having a matching set when I just had the DDs, but the variation is also lovely.

Loving the names talk - I wanted M to be Edward but DH was not keen. I also love Jonathan but it would not go with their surname. I slightly regret DD2's name (which is the same as PD's DD;s) as I wish I'd gone for Elizabeth (my MIL) or Katherine, but it's still a great name. My DD1 has my all time favourite girl's name (same as Trace DD1 and indeed JB's DD). Hey ho, I won't have any more so will have to do names vicariously.

Off to Devon tomorrow. Hideously early start (5am) as I'm doing all the driving and need o get on the M4 before the rest of the world does. Have a great week everyone and keep your fingers crossed for sun. I won't be able to keep up as M put Andrew's Blackberry down the loo and it no longer works, but I'll be thinking of you and looking forward to seeing some of you when I get back.

Love to all.

poisondwarf · 14/08/2010 00:32

. I am sober and contrite, I promise.

spot, fantastic news! I know what you mean about the little twinge of what you won't have though - I had it at not having 2 boys even though I wanted a girl! Is DP pleased? How are you getting on at the mo?

I think most of those names go with Thomas except maybe Louis, Luca, Noah & Jude. My fave out of that list is Joseph, probably cos my Dad & brother are called it. In terms of simple, classic names that don't get used so much these days how about Paul?

I remember suggesting Robin last time around and you said that it would be cruising for a bruising in the working men's clubs of the North West where your DP hangs out Grin, so I guess the following lovely names are out of the question:

Gabriel
Christian
Julian
Sebastian (but none of the shortened versions)

Also love your DP's name LadyT. Classy like. And that is hilarious about DD calling you Lady!

Effie, your DH was SO right about Otto. Not too late for deed poll!

Veggie you are so naughty putting ideas into my head about having a cheeky nose on wg's fb page for that love rat T. Not that I did of course but what with that and rolling in at 1am reeking of mojitos (mmmm, mojitos!) is it any wonder that your children are turning to petty crime with the example you are setting?

sybil, enjoy your hols.

spotofcheerfulness · 14/08/2010 08:54

Poison please don't be contrite, you provided some much needed levity (and yet gravitas) on the thread Grin. Thanks for the feedback on the names (as with everyone, in fact, and LadyT I will be adding your DP's name to my longlist). I quite like Paul but I have a friend whose husband is called Paul and is the dullest man on the planet (hence his moniker of 'boring Paul') so I might struggle to ditch the association.

On the DP getting along front, funny you should ask as we had a nice old humdinger of a row last night, still stuck as although DP has committed to Brighton he works too late (and therefore has v little energy to do anything after he finishes at 8) in order to go out and meet anyone. He was just having a bit of a poor me moment which pressed all my buttons (I am a very practical 'if you're not happy do something about it' person whereas he is happy having a moan and then just feels better having got it off his chest.) Anyhoo, wasn't a major one but slightly tarnished the happy day of getting the positive scan back etc.

Then T put the icing on the cake by being up between 2 and 4am, just wanting to play and chat Hmm. We all ended up having weetabix at 4am and going back to sleep. T and DP still are now! I have a wriggly little worm in my tummy that's not letting me do that.

Sybs have a lovely week, are you sure it really was M who put DH's Blackberry down the toilet? Sending sunny vibes down the M4....

Jam I am very impressed with your buns of steel evening, I bet you look fab in the bikini (or could combine it to make a burqua bikini - maybe that could catch on?). The dealbreaker re-the Scottish name is - do you have a Scottish accent? (I don't, we moved down sarf when I was 8 and my folks were both English). I couldn't care less but i think DP is incredibly conservative on the names front. I am now leaning towards Edward and William, them realised they are both very royal names. Perhaps am turning into the queen.

Lady hooray for the Waitrose arrivals, your DP must have ESP. Hope you had a good night.

Jolly your DD sounds very advanced already. Soon she will be passing off others' farts as her own, a vital social skill i remember learning.

Beans did DD1 eat her dinner in the end?

Right, best offski and make a cuppa while the house is still quiet. DP is off work most of next week and we're 'staycationing' so need to plan a few activities so we don't end up just hanging about the house.

spotofcheerfulness · 14/08/2010 08:56

Oh, and Effie was going to second a bit to change Ds2 to otto. It would really suit him (plus I'm reading a great book at the mo and Otto is the tragic hero)

JumpJockey · 14/08/2010 09:20

Gah, woke up this morning with a bit more bleeding. Is it work doing it to me I wonder? 2 Saturdays in a row after work on Thurs and Fri. Off to DH's work to get the sonicaid out again. Any spare white light for little JJ2? we've got mates over for dinner so a bit of a frantic day of cooking and tidying, could probably do with just having a quiet sit instead but not sure that's really going to be possible :(

will catch up tomorrow but just quickly, SL get on with finishing that story please, and Spot hurrah for another boy, will think up some names and let you know Wink

LadyThompson · 14/08/2010 10:07

I'm whitelighting you and JJ2. Can you simplify the recipes and the tidying? You.need.a.rest....

Edward and William both lovely, Spot, and Will and Ed as shortenings are also cool. I do like Alistair as I said Grin His middle names are James and George so his parents were pretty tasteful.

Names I like a lot but would never use, as I am drawn like a moth to a flame to the Call of Ponce, are...Anne and John. I know we have one of those on here but you just don't hear them much nowadays.

PD, I loved Robin for a girl as well as a boy, esp as a middle name but DP didn't.

I think I like poncy names because I was given the most boring 1970s name ever, though I was called Serena for the first three days of my life.

DD2 was Edward for a few minutes, before I realised that her penis was, in fact, the umbilical cord - hahahah!

Sorry not to do more lengthy catch up - DH due back from swim and mustn't look like I'm neglecting my children!

Big love.

Hello
jj really hoping everything is ok and take it easy. Put your feet up and don't worry about cleaning!
So had a crap night last night. No sleep until 6am! She won't settle at all. Well except on her side which she then rolls over to her front from. Dh now wants to putnher to sleep on her side and I said I would not do this this time as it worries me too much. And I know she will just get on her front which is worse. How can I get her to sleep on her back? She slept most of yesterday day on her back but just wouldn't overnight or now.

SummerLightning · 14/08/2010 12:19

Oh and rubes what is the sleep positioner thing you talk about? Just wondering if that might help?

Veggiemummy · 14/08/2010 12:58

Oh summer poor you. DS2 was the same would only sleep in his side. We had the baby nest hammock think with a positioned thing and we used to lay him on his side, it was amazing the difference in his sleep, naps & overnight.....so the rest of the birth story....sorry your tired how rude of me.

PD I had a look as I thought he might post something on her wall, but no. Sorry WG I'm not a stalking just want to see that ray for myself,

Veggiemummy · 14/08/2010 13:03

Oops rat for myself.

EffiePerine · 14/08/2010 13:13

Jj: please rest. If they're friendsthey won't care about an untidy house or cheese on toast for dinner.

waitinggirl · 14/08/2010 13:14

JJ - much white light coming your way - take it easy, love.

vg, PD - feel free to have a snoop - oh you make me laugh - initials TP, with surname ending in elly (there's another TP whom i barely see). alas there is no evidence of loverattiness - it was all on instant messenger.

SL - the midwives got madam to sleep on her side by rolling up towels/blankets and propping her between them in the moses basket -might help??? sorry about the sleep.

madam was up like a mentalist last night - 1-3.45 ugh ugh ugh.

she now demands "sew me sew me" off the telly. makes a difference from "nana" - gigglebiz.

Veggiemummy · 14/08/2010 13:25

Oh dear, it's 2.15pm & DS2 has only just gone down for his nap. DH & I got busy this morning with room moving, we had it all planned we would move all the storage stuff downstairs into the backroom then put DS2 down for his nap on the spare bed upstairs then disassemble our bed and move bits around down there then when DS2 woke get lunch move our bed upstairs then off to the beach. Unfortunately DS2 didn't go to sleep at his usual time and we forgot DS1 has swimming lessons at 2pm on a Saturday. Well anyway now all the beds are upstairs and all the crap is downstairs & the guest sofabed so all we have to do is organise all the crap into a guestroom playroom & crap room. I'm in DH & my new room upstairs bow and it really is so much nicer, the ceiling is high and both this room & the boys room are lovely bright & airy so it will be much nicer esp in winter. Also having the extra play space downstairs when it's cold outside will be brilliant.

Rightim gonna leave DS2 & wake him in an hour I still think we can make an appearance at the beach afte he sleeps and DS1 & DH get back from swimming.

Veggiemummy · 14/08/2010 13:32

Oh & JJ White light is out there, have you spoken to midwives about bleeding. Also I think takeaway is the way forward for tonight. Also have to admit to being pleased you need to do a days tidy before they come. DH & I are always amazed at how nice we can get the house looking when friends are coming to stay and always commit to putting more effort it in to keeping it clean...we never do.

Right I'm off over to FB Grin

Veggiemummy · 14/08/2010 13:36

HE's Married!!!!! & his fav show is 2&a half men...there you go!

JumpJockey · 14/08/2010 18:01

hello all, thanks for your white light, just to say dh managed to find the baby's heartbeat pretty fast so that was a big reassurance. The duty midwife said if it calms down fairly quickly (which it did) and I don't get any cramps (none, though of course every tummy burble I'm now super-aware of) then not to worry. Have got my 16 week appt in about 10 days so will bring it up again then. The mates who are coming over we've not seen since November Blush so not really ones to cancel on easily! DH has done main and I've done starter and pudding is just strawbs and cream so easy. Had a bit of a lie down as well, just been a hard day as dd is practicing for being 2 Hmm - she did the Lying down on the pavement wailing thing in town which was a bit tricky! and there's lots and lots of mummy mummy trailing on my trouser legs. Hopefully when mates arrive they can help entertain her for a bit!

SummerLightning · 14/08/2010 18:47

Phew phew phew jj!
Spot I like all your names Samuel (would have been dd name if she was a boy) Edward William and James are my favourites!
