LOti Always worth having a couple of cheapy garlic breads in the freezer just in case.

Spring August UK babies will get 15hrs free pre-school/nursery from Sep11, Sep ones will start Jan12. BUT the Aug babies will start school Sep12 and be only just 4. Sep babies will stay at pre-school for another 3 terms and their fine motor skills will be much more practised and confident by the time they start school Sep13.

Shattered! Did 4hrs at the Common with cousins and a friend of DD. Now at my dad's while he works on the continuing puzzle of how to install a stereo in our weirdy Japanese bus.

CrispyTheCrisp · 05/08/2010 15:27

Oi LOTI

oopsandbabycoconuts · 05/08/2010 15:58

Afternoon all

cyteen · 05/08/2010 16:09

CC nae chance of your washing being out

loti my god woman, have a sit down and a cup of tea before rushing off again. That's some serious calorie burning housework you've done there

TS think positive! You can overcome your fears.

Buckets I really am so glad DS decided hang on for September, even though it makes me only an honorary Aug08er. Can't see him being ready for school at all if he'd had to start in the earlier year.

oopsandbabycoconuts · 05/08/2010 16:21

Cyteen - I was kind of hoping DD1 would wait until September as her best friend did but saying that I think she would drive me to distraction if she had to stay home an extra year. Sadly DD1 and her bestest bud will be in seperate school years even though there is less than 48hours between them!

LOTI - I have channeled you successfully today - downstairs hoovered/floors washed/ kitchen clean/3rd load of washing is and spinning as I type.

CC - Dh will look at you and say 'what washing?'

TS - go on you know you can overcome it - one short step to Florida and then slowly build your way to a short flight to London -then I could predict an entire thread meet up where no one is missing!

cyteen · 05/08/2010 16:38

I can see your DD1 being ultra-ready for school in that year though oops. Whereas DS's only two syllable words at the moment are 'daddy', 'mama' and 'apple'

CrispyTheCrisp · 05/08/2010 17:33

Cyteen - favoured phrase here 'don't know'. What would you like for breakfast?, what happened?, why are you crying? all invariably met with the same answer

Well done on all your housework ladies - i have shoved 2 loads in the machine today and that is it!

Work going pretty well, but as always takes over life a bit. Off to a wedding tomorrow so i will get some clear headspace and probably do one day at the weekend

LoTI your menu sounds fab - can i come?

TS is the flight expensive? If so, can you book a really cheap one and take hand luggage only? Then if you REALLY can't do it you have nothing to lose? If you are backed into a corner that you HAVE to get on that may be more stressful?
We will all be behind you cheering you onto that plane, so i reckon you'll make it just fine . Oh and oops is right, if you make it to the UK we will ALL come and meet you. I (and cyteen my handy henchman) will ensure attendance is mandatory

Hurrah for cece joining LWFH. Yes to the washing by the way. I have faith in MonsieurCece

Must go collect small pink people.....

Miamla R was low and sideways so you never really know until you're water breaks. In hindsight I wish I'd waited for the water break part.

That flight from here to Orlando was $133US round trip. I've seen it for $60US. You are restricted from changing once booked but I have been contemplating the idea for a year now. We also have a direct flight to St. Petersburg for about the same rate (if not lower). Captain will ya'll be in Orlando again or a different local. Spring, right? Family gathering??

I so desperately want to overcome my silly fear. My brain is like, it's a piece of cake but then something else makes me doubt myself. Grrrrr!!!

Lucky I've only put away mine & dh's piles of laundry. The mountain was getting scary beside my bed. I had to go get more hangers for the girls things so hopefully those will be put away before bed tonight.

OH HURRAH! cyteen - would be fab to see you too, esp as I am missing the great northern meetup.

OK day here, although a community support police officer came to help me push the buggy up the hill as it looked like I was struggling I gratefully accepted the help, but felt slightly embarrassed about it all. We weren't actually doing too badly, just slowly and slightly grumpily ...

longwayfromhome · 05/08/2010 20:36

PS TS go go go re: the flight

TwilightSurfer · 05/08/2010 20:38

went and picked up some more buttons. now the new etsy dress i got dd1 fits better & with cooler buttons. i should do a picture shouldn't i.

longwayfromhome · 05/08/2010 20:38

PS did I tell you about DS's new bit of language already, apologies if so.

We get "poor ..." if something goes wrong

"poor shoe" if his shoe falls off

"poor eye" when DD tried to take my mum's glasses off

"poor auto" when I stalled the car

you get the idea ...

longwayfromhome · 05/08/2010 20:39

yes, photos please!

longwayfromhome · 05/08/2010 20:43

Am here avoiding some marking, yet again. Hence the large number of posts.

Am very much enjoying England. We also went to playgroup today. Really lovely. Just normal and british and nice.

I think that we are going to get a part-time or full-time nanny/housekeeper for when we get home. They will do some looking after the babies and some looking after the house and I will have some time to work properly not just crammed into evenings/weekends and naps.

Just to find the right person.

longwayfromhome · 05/08/2010 20:44

but no-one is being very chatty? will go off and actually do some work then.

Lots of love to all, have lovely holidays people ...

MrsMiamla · 05/08/2010 20:44

hello to one and all

vg hmm, i reckon you're pushing your luck there girl!
you wait, in 5weeks time when i'm 2wks overdue, you'll all be laughing at me!

TS oh it'd be amazing if you made it over here!!!! it'd be the biggest Aug08 meetup yet

I too have been channelling loti and have sorted all of DS's toys. I've removed the baby ones for Pea and been out to Ikea to get some small storage boxes for all the different bits. Its had an amazing effect on DS. already he has played with things he hasn't played with in ages. i feel rather chuffed with myself!

longwayfromhome · 05/08/2010 20:46

ha, you are here, helloooooo Miamla don't make me work ...

longwayfromhome · 05/08/2010 20:47

PS I think that you are nesting

TwilightSurfer · 05/08/2010 20:50

here but appears to be posting slow. couldn't find my good camera so uploaded a crazy one from my phone. doesn't really show how pretty these buttons are but oh well.

lwfh you seem very happy. i'm sure being in the land of your native tongue makes life less stressing. how sweet of the police man. very of the nanny idea. i just can't swing it.

Hi Longway

Miamla - I remember telling people at this stage that I had 5 weeks to go so they wouldn't nag me. When she turned up on time it shocked everyone!

DD1 sleeping, DD2 on me she is very uncomfortable today, lots of crying and mucousy sick and stuffy nose, poor chicken.

MrsMiamla · 05/08/2010 20:56

not quite sure how i manage to cross post with so many of you

nanny idea sounds great lwfh

hmm oops, that's a cunning idea....

longwayfromhome · 05/08/2010 21:00

yes, I think so. At the moment I can't accept work because I don't have childcare, so I kind of have to have one in place before the other can happen, and well, if it doesn't work out then not to worry. Also, I suspect that having someone to work in the house is significantly cheaper than in the UK, so more affordable than it might be.

oops I like your new name

really must work. mwah to all

TwilightSurfer · 05/08/2010 21:03

here is the dress mil sent to R for her bday. it's very wide across the chest and i'm trying to figure out some buttons for it instead of the knots.

All this talk of school is scary. ds will be starting at school nursery full time in Jan12 (the school he will hopefully will be at - the one dd is just leaving) only does full time nursery. Not worried about it apart from the fact that my baby will be at school. {sob] and i will have to Get A Job [sob sob sob]. so i have less than 18 months with him home with me ft .

dd and i just got back from seeing toy story 3. the hype was all true. fab. though imo not worth 3d (v little is - yet everything is blinking well in it atm)
