TS, if its too wide then you could cross the straps over at the back before reaffixing them on the front with buttons. agree re knots, buttons would def be better. i love the fabric combo

TwilightSurfer · 05/08/2010 21:26

Geez! Chasing down a 2yr old for dressing & photograph is hard work. R's dress pic now on FB with my buttons. They aren't as fancy as the ones I put on dd1's but the dress really can't handle anymore flash.

OP posts:
MrsMiamla · 05/08/2010 21:29

how have you fixed the straps to the front? judging by that photo, if you moved them a bit further away from the side seam ie towards the centre front of the dress, it wouldn't gape as much (but obviously it might only be gaping because of the way R is standing!)

TwilightSurfer · 05/08/2010 21:35

you are correct BUT the dress had presewn button holes that were spread way out. i actually thought about folding the upper corners over and stitching them at an angle then adding new button holes....but i lack a sewing machine so ........it's the way it will be for eternity. lol! it's okay. she'll be fine playing in it now then as she grows i can move the buttons down the strap (i left the strap un touched just untied the crazy knot.

OP posts:
CaptainCaveman · 05/08/2010 21:39

crispy your faith in Senior Caveman, whilst touching, was slightly misplaced. The washing is still in the machine . Oh quelle surprise!!

Cyteen are you chucking a sickie? goongoongoongoongoongoongoon (that's go on, not goon!)

lwfh i take it you got my text? The reply said "yes, hello"...a bit like I'd scared someone! D1 is very excited too, he is fascinated by people who live in a different country to us so expect a grilling from a 6yr-old-going-on-50

loti here you go

miamla just keep living in denial and when anyone asks you how long you have left to go, just say "til what?" Head firmly in the sand.

VG where are you going on your jollies? Can we all come?

TS have you read any self-help type books? Some people rave about Paul McKenna, and he does some 'conquer your fear of flying' type stuff.

MrsMiamla · 05/08/2010 21:39

ah ha, i see. and yes i agree, not much you can do without a machine

very sensible re not cutting off the extra bit of strap! well i think you've done a great job given no sewing machine!

oooh, i get to make little girlie dresses for my own little girlie soon

MrsMiamla · 05/08/2010 21:45

ooh hi cc, but i've only just got my head out of the sand!

absolutely shattered so i'm afraid i'm off for a trip to Bedward

see you all in the morning my lovely ladies

CaptainCaveman · 05/08/2010 21:51

TS try paul mckenna

night miamla sleep well

oopsandbabycoconuts · 05/08/2010 21:53

Night Miamla

Hi Cece

Hi TS

Night all - DD2 still sleeping so I'm off to take advantage of peaces and quiet to read.

TwilightSurfer · 05/08/2010 21:55

Thank you Captain! I'll look into that. I'm also considering starting acupuncture this fall. Surely something will help because I'm MAD DRIVEN to OVERCOME!!

OP posts:
CaptainCaveman · 05/08/2010 21:55

Night oops and babies

Cyteen are you hiding from the naughty girls who are trying to get you to throw a sickie?

MrsMiamla · 05/08/2010 22:01

TS have a think about trying some hypnotherapy too....

really am going to bed now, night!

MrsMiamla · 05/08/2010 22:02

just realised, that's probably what paul mckenna does but what i meant is going to see someone about it. i found my hypnobirth course thing so much better than just reading a book

pertelote · 05/08/2010 22:03

Miamla sand is such a nice, comfortable place for a head, I think

LWFH childcare sounds like a decent plan. I still periodically wonder whether we ought to have more hours than we currently scrape together of grandparents (IYSWIM) but there's no way this year (I think in academic years so I mean Sept 10 - Sept 11) and then nursery kicks in.

Bedtime was hard tonight and has been for a few days. I always sit and read near DD's door until she's asleep () but she has been settling herself and not needing any attention during that time until this week. Now she's suddenly really upset (sad not tantrummy), wants to get up, turn the light on (her room isn't very dark though) hold hands, have me sing a song, it's like stepping back six months . Any ideas? Teething? Are they old enough to be having bad dreams?

CaptainCaveman · 05/08/2010 22:03

Ok, I'll bore you with O's current linguistic skills:

Cows say 'ooooooooh'
Mummy = memmy
Daddy = deeee
Tom = Ton
Cats say 'oww'
mummys car = memmy brumm
Dinosaurs say 'raaah'
Sheep say 'raaah'
Horses say 'raaah'
Dogs say 'of'
High five = hi fi
feet = fee
toes = toe

So, can you interpret the following?
ju memmy ju
ton no my (usually when ds1 has pinched something off him)
fanupder
lighupder

ahh, I could was lyrical all night

TwilightSurfer · 05/08/2010 22:04

that's what i was hoping to get from that crazy lady i saw back before we went to the beach. the one that made me cry.

OP posts:
CaptainCaveman · 05/08/2010 22:06

pertelote she's certainly old enough to think, hmm, how can I get mummy to stay in my room for longer . Geniuses they are!

CaptainCaveman · 05/08/2010 22:07

I'm off, going to make pleasantaries with dh now he's finally stopped playing lego star wars!!!

oopsandbabycoconuts · 05/08/2010 22:10

CC - would those be:

Juice mummy juice?
No Tom that's mine
the other 2 - no idea.
I love his other words

GladioliBuckets · 05/08/2010 23:09

Kurt's been chanting 'Zipppeeeee' a lot this week. Think he means yippee or perhaps it's just a nice sound he's adopted for joyful moments.
Have got his 2yr check up booked for week after next so hopefully HV (a new, with-it sounding young one) will take me seriously and get him on a waiting list for a hearing test at least. He's just a bit too lacking in interaction for my comfort, though not in an autistic way I think (DS1 was more like 'I'm too busy to respond to your foolish human bleating'.) I wonder if he just doesn't hear other people interacting.
Why am I still up? Subconsciously waiting for DH to come back from band that's why, pathetic.

CrispyTheCrisp · 05/08/2010 23:22

Evening

Am LOL'ing at CeceChap and his words. DD2 is just starting to say M for M rather than B. I will miss Barmite and Boo (cows)

Pert do you think she may need to drop her nap if it because she is not tired? If this is not the case then I would say clearly to her that mummy will leave the room if she cannot stop playing around and then pop back in from outside, put her back to bed and reiterate it is sleep time and leave again. Gradually reducing the commentary so she knows you mean it

buckets good news on teh appointment and i hope they do enough to put your mind at rest or refer

longway i am considering upping DD2's hrs back to 2 days as i need the childcare in place if this work thing takes off. So difficult to second guess

miamla hope you are having a lovely time creating sand angels

TS lovely pics. Your girls are such a credit to you. Always smiling and relaxed and off on some new adventure in the truck

Off to bed for me now. We are going to my cousins wedding tomorrow and i still haven't sewn the button on DD1's cardigan . I have ironed everything though so i suppose it's a start.....

TwilightSurfer · 06/08/2010 01:05

CrispyTheCrisp · 06/08/2010 02:31

Up where? Confused

springaporesling · 06/08/2010 03:42

Crispy I love Boo for Moo Grin. What are you doing up?!

They sang Happy Birthday to DS at music yesterday and his little friend cried as he is already two and thought the song was just for him! I've been asking him how old he's going to be and either get '2 years' or '2 minutes' Hmm.

He has taken to singing in a big way - very loudly at the top of his voice we have many verses of 'the wheels on the bus' (which DH has taught him a new verse to which goes 'the Mummys on the bus go nag, nag, nag'!) , 12345, twinkle twinkle, row row row your boat, baa baa black sheep etc etc ad infinitum - can you tell I've been up since 5am......

LWFH sounds like a good idea. Such things are much cheaper here too.

TS I would second the acupuncture route. I know it's a different issue but my aunt successfully gave up smoking that way. If you make it to England then I will certainly be back for your visit.

luckoftheirish · 06/08/2010 05:35
