Our thread is an MN oasis

Poor Q was so restless last night but woke at 8am!!!! I'm totally shocked! Lovely lie in, though.

Csws what are P and D's favourite treats (that you don't mind them having)?

star - you really don't need to bring them anything, but a bag of hula hoops each as a treat would I'm sure go down well.

Can I just check that everyone is bringing their own picnic lunch, so I don't need to worry about feeding you all as well as my own lot?

Oh that's lovely pistachio!! I bet you look gorgeous... Judging by fb!! Will be affirmed in September!

csws don't you dare even think about doing anything for us. We are there for you
Don't even bother getting out of your pyjamas!
can I bring anything that everyone will eat and I can just put all of the rubbish and waste in a bag and chuck it in the bin so no traces for csws. Any ideas? I'm crap at this... oh dairy free, vegetarian.... ummm how about some snacks like crackers and cold veg? Told you I'm useless...

50ftQueenie · 24/07/2010 20:31

You expect us to cater for ourselves?! Of course we'll bring our own bits. Martha won't eat anything anyway and Ollie will eat anything he's given.

.

50ft - I know (think) that ronshar has to get off to get the girls, but if you're still around at dinner time then you might like to know that Monday is the day that the fish & chip van comes to the village.

50ftQueenie · 24/07/2010 21:18

Oooooo!!!! DH says we're in no hurry to get home so, and he also nodded approvingly when I mentioned the fish and chip van!

Where did that 'so' come from? I have turned into Mrs Doyle....

Hi all, sorry I've not been around lately, the kids and I were visiting my parents. I'm knackered! It was great, but as M is currently struggling with sleeping again, nighttimes were NOT restful.

CSWS - how is J doing? Has he sorted out which is night & day yet?

Pistachio - very at your figure. The word 'toned' is not one that would come up in conversation about my figure . But I'm working on it....

Star, I wouldn't worry about mn standards. I don't believe them all anyway. I think we all muddle through. Based on the mums I know, we all have things we are great at and other areas we struggle with, but tbh all the kids seem perfectly fine!

So, some monster courgettes have grown in the garden while I was away. The smallest was just short of 1kg in weight..... I've been baking cakes tonight, but only managed to use up 1 courgette. I've got at least another 6 huge ones to use up!

It was more constant daytime feeding pistachio. Last night I just lay on my back and plonked him on top of me around midnight, and we stayed like that till about 5:40. Some of the time he was feeding and some of the time he was sleeping, but I couldn't tell you the exact split of each, as I was dozing through it all.

Do any of you remember me moaning about the fact that ds1 cried constantly in the car when he was tiny? Deja vu.

StarExpat · 25/07/2010 18:08

Csws that is amazing that you could just have him on top of you and he could feed off and on! When I learned to feed lying down I had to be on my side and alternate which meant turning over and moving ds. He would never have just found the nipple by himself at that age.
You are a breastfeeding master!

StarExpat · 25/07/2010 19:17

ronshar what time? I can be anywhere near chessington since that's on your way. do you have a landmark in mind that you know well? The holiday Inn perhaps? We will park there. Maybe we could meet you just at the entrance? I'll be the one with a toddler, holding his carseat. Oh and what's your favourite treat?

coconutfeet · 25/07/2010 19:30

Evening all. Ekka - I'm envious of your courgettes. I've got a plant that keeps flowering but not producing fruit. I'm wondering if I should have pollinated it in some way. V disappointing, although we've got beautiful sweet, ripe tomatoes now, which are gorgeous.

Pistachio - I remember a blissful period when my nieces wanted to be waitresses all the time and they would go round with a notebook and write down all our drinks orders while we lounged in the garden. I'm not sure the whistle would be quite such a relaxing addition.

We've had an endless stream of visitors which has been lovely but exhausting. I can't wait for bedtime!

I'm VERY happy that there's no school tomorrow. The last week has been crazy and I had to go in on Friday to do move into my new classroom. It's still chaos and I'll have to go in for at least one day if I can sort some childcare out.

Is it tomorrow you're all heading to see CSWS?

pepperrabbit · 25/07/2010 20:07

Evening all, we have huuuge courgettes (marrows probably by now) and incy wincy hard green tomatoes....
I'm so dumb, I've been pondering all week outloud to DH why it is that the zips on BOTH DDs summer grobags have suddenly gone loose so we keep finding her with her feet out...when..ta-da I've just realised that they're prob fine, but DD can undo zips.... .

StarExpat · 25/07/2010 20:14

Pepper - I'm impressed she stays in a grobag!
Cf welcome to summer holiday bliss!!!
Yes it's tomorrow.... If ronshar ever contacts me... Ahem... My mobile no is on facebook - text or email or fb is great

StarExpat · 25/07/2010 20:36

I was remembering how difficult it used to be long ago, to get Q to bed... And now it's soooo easy!!! He even points to his bed and says "night night" after his bath and some books. He does the same after lunch for his nap! If someone told me it would be like this I wouldn't have believed them

I think DD always suspects something more interesting is going on in the DSs room (she's right - but that's not a good thing!) so she's not so keen to be put down in her room. I may get the cot duvet out for her - I'm sure she won't mind that we only have Bob and Thomas duvet sets
Last night DS2 was sick at 2am and DD got stung by a bee at lunchtime today so not a restful weekend - DH has been working (from home thank goodness) all weekend, literally, dawn till midnight...
Have a lovely time at CSWS's tomorrow everyone who'e going, give J a cuddle from me!

pepperrabbit · 25/07/2010 20:57

actaully pistachio that's a good point, DD still fits comfortably in the 6-18 month bags, maybe i should move her up to the biggest ones so the zip will be miles away?!

StarExpat · 25/07/2010 20:59

Are pepper and pistachios dh's employed by the same company?
Sounds like a busy weekend pepper. Q is now obsessed with trains and boats and cars... Well, transport...

ronshar · 25/07/2010 22:49

Bad mummy winner here.
Poor DD1 went off to her guide camp crying because I told her off before we left the house
DD2 missed the swimming bit of a swimming party yesterday as I got the time wrong.
I really screwed up this weekend.[crap mummy]

I have confirmed times with Star.

CSWS I will need to leave around 3pm. So can you all make sure that I do please. Harriet will be even more angry with me otherwise!

Hello everyone. Hope you are all well, and those free from the tyranny of school runs, enjoying the summer holidays

Off to bed now. Exciting day of fighting other ladies over a small boy.

Honeymoonmummy · 26/07/2010 09:57
