I don’t read it every day but of course I’ve read articles on there. Most have except some who refuse on here. Fine. They can stick to the Guardian.

How do you know I don't read the daily mail, given this is a discussion on the horrific killing of Ann Widdecombe, and you yourself thought so. It's a speculation article that I find distasteful.

You’re happy to monetise the Daily Mail then

People haven’t even got what is in the article right, there’s no name.

The DM lies and so I’d wait until a more reputable media outlet gives an update.

Feels very Jill Dando like to me.

Yeah, I was thinking that. If it's not turning out to be personal, then you have to wonder what she knew. After all, she'd been around the elite for years.

Certainly not ghoulish speculation surrounding the horrific killing of a well known older female politician. You however are very happy to do that.

If you don’t want the Daily Mail to succeed you’re better off avoiding it altogether.

Smeuse · Today 19:04

The Times has lost a lot of credibility as well, remember the made up private school family.

It's just copying the same speculation story and sticks it behind a paywall

If your neighbour gets arrested you will bet likely know! In my street everyone knows the second you go out ac we all have video doorbells.

I can assure you more than 2 people were arrested in Rotherham within the last 24 hours.

You are obviously very happy to to support a trashy speculative article about the horrific killing of Ann Widdecombe.

I had contact with her through work many years ago and found her to be nice enough. That said, she was spreading deeply divisive views in the years before she died for profit. I find it concerning the media is presenting her views as her having "strong principles" when in reality they were discriminatory.

Agree.

There’s no point in trying to go for the high ground if you read the Daily Mail anyway.

You've gone low regarding the horrific killing of Ann Widdecombe. Own it and move on.

Nope. You support the daily mail by reading it own it and move on.

I think that she has only one brother Malcom who is a retired Anglican priest, he seems an unlikely suspect.

@PeachOctopus

Her older brother predeceased her.

She has a nephew

An article in the Telegraph gives a few details supposedly from the neighbours of the arrested man. Not saying this is right but I wouldn't say it's speculation.

NeverLookInTheMirror · Today 19:26

Posting a headline along the lines of “suspect drove 300 miles with a foot long stick” or whatever that article claimed (paraphrasing from post above) is nothing but speculation.

Nothing of the sort has been released by the police. All there is is the account of some random member of the public claiming to be a neighbour whose neighbour was arrested, and now the tabloids have invented that headline.

Anyone who sees that as anything other than speculation is deluded or lacking inteligence.

Great I can’t say this opinion means much or is anything close to correct but that’s not surprising. You never read it which is brilliant. Keep going.

All I will say is why didn't the neighbours give the police whatever information they know. Why go to the Mail?

How do you know they haven't also spoken to the police? I'm pretty sure the police will have gone door to door.

Would the police not caution them about speaking to the press during a live murder investigation?

Fair point. Even if that is the case, the neighbours are basically monetising Ann Widdecombe's murder. It's not great, is it?

The neighbours of Ann have been asked not to speak to the media.

I can imagine anyone speaking to the media may not always have the best interests of the case at heart.

If they were paid. I think a lot of people are happy to speak to the press regardless, particularly if they get their faces on telly.

If they live in Rotherham, they will likely be UC claimants
