Suspicious death, suspected murder. Think there is a press conference soon.

Far too many people have totally lost the plot over the last decade. So many take politics far too seriously where now they are totally blind sided into hate and lack of compassion. It's really quite sad really.

As for the incident in question, it sounds like she quite sensibly for someone of her position had CCTV at her property. I expect we will perhaps see an image of the attacker released by police over the weekend now they have released their prime suspect in an appeal to the public.

Lemonapplepear · 11/07/2026 07:39

What an awful thing to happen. It feels like senseless violence is on the rise.

Imaginary86 · 11/07/2026 07:47

The man they have arrested has been released

user1492757084 · 11/07/2026 07:49

I just researched that Ann had a brother and nieces and nephews.

How shocking that their elderly Aunt is thought to have been murdered.
What a nasty end to a contributor of many years.

Ann Whitcombe was honest and outspoken and had confidence rare for a woman of her age. She cared for her own mother lovingly. RIP. Ann deserved better.

Why would the gardener stick around to work after he'd killed her? 🤦‍♀️ He was probably just doing his job.

My guess is they did arrest the gardener because he was there or around at the time, but it wasn't him.

Maybe she suffered from heat and fell.
Poor lady could have been alone for a good while.
Did she have a family?

Her death is being treated as suspicious and there was a man seen in her home. The police clearly suspect murder.

she was found with serious injuries

Yes, you're right, but I'm referring to the race baiter comments on here and social media. There's no place for them, especially in the infancy of this investigation.

It’s not race baiting.

It’s a fact. After Southport they agreed to start releasing the race of the suspect to prevent the riots that we saw.

Dollymylove · 11/07/2026 07:56

MrsBennetsPoorNervesAreBack · 11/07/2026 07:30

There was no "cover-up". The perpetrator in that case was Welsh. And at one point, he had been a choir boy.

The police were advised to publish the ethnicity of perpetrators because of the riots that followed the Southport case, incited by right wing disinformation online about the killer having been an asylum seeker.

No he wasnt an asylum seeeker after all but he was still known to the authorities. They knew he was dangerous they ignored it................because of his ethnicity.
I hope they sleep well at night

Suggesting that it's a good thing the murderer wasn't an ethnic minority is most certainly race baiting.

Well it's all moot now that the suspect has been exonerated

I thought something was suspicious as soon as this was reported on the BBC news earlier. I said to Clive (my husband) she looked so well and sharp on the interview she had done less then 48hours before. I am heartbroken and shocked to thr core and have a feeling there is a lot more to this case then meets the eye

In what way do you think there is more to it?

More than suspect, they have launched a murder enquiry and her family, who will know exactly her injuries have said her last moments will have been in abject terror.

anne widdecombe, sadly, was brutally murdered, there is no ifs, buts or maybes.

IsYourTableClothed · 11/07/2026 08:04

IT'S ANN WIDDECOMBE, GUYS! About two people on this thread have bothered to spell it correctly.

itchyelbowsandswollenankles · 11/07/2026 08:04

I can’t help but wonder why the poor woman who was murdered in Bedford, along with her two daughters, hasn’t received this press coverage.

elprup · 11/07/2026 08:05

This is shocking news. It’s horrible to think of Ann Widdecombe or anyone dying in such awful circumstances. I hope they find whoever did it soon.

Probably because she wasn't famous.

She knows exactly what she's doing. Like I said, race baiting.

The man has been released. I wonder if she actually fell down the stairs and they've just got it wrong in thinking she was attacked.

And the police knew who the culprit was. He has since been arrested.

Maybe offer your services to the Devon and Cornwall police. I’m sure they will appreciate it.

Do you really think that a pathologist can't tell the difference between someone who's fallen downstairs and bashed their head, and something used to batter them?
There will be traces of metal/ wood/ whatever and the appropriate marks which show a weapon was used.

Daygloboo · 11/07/2026 08:06

They'd be able to tell the difference between head and body injuries caused in a fall and those inflicted by an attacker surely?

EwwStew · 11/07/2026 08:10

I wonder what exactly has gone wrong in the upbringing of those who hate so viciously those they disgree with.

Is it a lack of intelligence, critical thought or the ability to see 'why' someone may think the way they do? We need to install a compulsory debating society in every school and university.

Is it social media? These people behave defensively, as if they have no actual internal thoughts or personal basis for their beliefs. So they attack any who question them, because they cannot answer in anything but borrowed words from the internet/peer groups.

I have disagreed robustly with many people throughout my life, yet have never held the sort of hatred and bile towards any human that has been displayed by many after recent public murders.

I think she lived in a bungalow. And was found in the kitchen. Usually when someone falls and bashes their head, there would be evidence (blood, skin cells etc) on the furniture or fittings that they hit before falling to the floor. I’m guessing Ann’s injuries were not consistent with that.
