Suspicious death, suspected murder. Think there is a press conference soon.

Horrific, another woman murdered by a man.

Her political views aren’t aligned to mine but I admire any single woman who lives by her own rules. She must have been so afraid at the end.

The left doesn't want to lock up burglars. This man will have previous. He will have already served time.

Stop talking nonsense.

A woman has been killed.

Have a little respect FFS.

AInightingale · 10/07/2026 22:50

I've just read Peter Tatchell's weasly excuse for an apology for calling AW names earlier. If TV bosses had any principles at all, that specimen would never be invited on anywhere to spout his opinions again, but of course he will be, unflushable turd that he is. To tell women that they don't know what women are, etc.

palaa · 10/07/2026 22:50

I worked in parliament as a junior researcher for a Labour MP at the same time she was an MP. I was basically a very lowly nobody and put up with my fair share of rude/dismissive/just being ignored. But I once got speaking to Ann and she was beyond lovely and would always greet me and ask about how I was doing after that a joy. What a very sad end, to a rich and colourful life.

What an utterly bizarre thing to say. Is the hot weather affecting your reaasoning skills?

Maybe assisted suicide? Although I admit, that doesn't seem a very Ann Widdecombe thing to do.

Without want to sound bad, was anyone else surprised she was only 78?

What a strange and offensive thing to say. It was a violent murder.

NotTerfNorCis · 10/07/2026 22:54

Just checked who 'Heather' is. Heather Herbert, Sophie Molly's partner. Both disgusting men.

Like you I did not agree with her views and attitudes but I keep thinking about what a terrible end to her life, just awful and my heart goes out to her family and friends.

I saw a line on a bbc article that said ‘neighbours said they’d heard her gardener at the property’, which is telling.

I said to dh the fact they arrested him so quickly, he must have been known to her and her carer/family. I wondered if it was her gardener/hamdyman. Whoever it is, I felt so shocked and saddened by the way she has died, it’s absolutely horrific, she must have been petrified. 😢

LuckyHazelFox · 10/07/2026 22:59

I don't know why but I was reminded of Jill Dando when Ann's murder was announced. Just that dreaded feeling of another innocent high profile woman losing her life so violently.

Found the article. I’m certain that’s what they’re hinting at.

@Delladuck i reported you, but I think I’ve made a mistake. It sounded like mad ranting when I first read it, but I think I see what you are saying.

Don't worry about it-sorry for my mad ramblings-it just makes me so bloody angry, another woman dead at the hands of a man

Hopefully mumsnet will see that I wasn't having a dig but I'm passionate about woman's hard fought for rights and sick to death of the 2 women a week dying at the hands of a man

I know a woman who's only crime was dating a man and she died at his hands (he strangled her and left her in a roll of carpet for others to find and then ran off)

He got a measly 19 years

'Lessons will be learned'

No they wont-like I said to my dd and ds,'there are 4 women who are walking around right now, living their lives and with 4 weeks, all 4 will be dead because of a man'

It has to stop

They can spend 5 mil on no-show-nige but cant spend it on keeping woman and girls safe

It's a fucked up world we live in-poor Ann is just another name for Jess Phillips list this year and next year another 50+ women's names will be read out

And the year after that, then another 50+ the following year-rinse and repeat

Valeriekat · 10/07/2026 23:03

Yorkshirelass04 · 10/07/2026 16:19

The UK's Charlie Kirk?

I was wondering that too.

Kickinthenostalgia · 10/07/2026 23:03

This wasn’t what I’d expecting when I found out she’d died. Got a notification to say she’d died and just figured it was an illness or old age, then a few hours later get another notification to say they’d arrested someone for her murder. ☹️

Exactly what I said to my mum earlier. Instantly thought of Jill dando

Well,I see my rant about Heather bollocking arsehole has been deleted

Nice one @mnhq a lovely way to silence a real bio woman over the fake ones

I stand by what I said

GrandmaMazur · 10/07/2026 16:07

I don’t understand why it matters whether you have the same political views as someone. It’s still possible to feel sad about their murder.

It's an injustice and a crime, and that needs to be dealt with properly, but I'm not going to mourn such a mean-spirited, nasty piece of work who wouldn't piss on me if I was on fire. Her views were even worse than Thatcher's.

NaturallyCuriousCat · 10/07/2026 23:08

Yikes, feels like that came out of nowhere. If it's murder hope very quick and not protracted. World doesn't make sense sometimes

Livelovebehappy · 10/07/2026 23:08

SaySomethingMan · 10/07/2026 22:06

What data supports this claim? Can you agra it?

Doesnt need to be 'data'. Its my observation. You might have a different take and that's fine too. See, i'm acknowledging that others have a right to a different opinion. Now let me guess your political leaning.🤔..

And your comment does? ....

Let's hope this topic doesn't find its way into AIBU. This is exactly the kind of ill-judged comment that would be repeated and worse.

You don't have to mourn her. She's a stranger to you, me and most others on here but give it a minute before the character assassination. Another woman has just been murdered at the hands of a man and that should be at the forefront of your mind.

TooBigForMyBoots · 10/07/2026 23:13

purser25 · 10/07/2026 20:40

I wouldn’t call 78 that old though interesting that she had a carer.

It's not that interesting. I care for a number of women, plenty of them younger than Anne Widdicombe. And some of them still working.

It's not personal care. It is practical and admin stuff. Cleaning, laundry, on-line shopping and picking up prescriptions, taking out bins. I'm not surprised in the least that she had a carer or "home-help" as they used to be called.

She was a busy, elderly woman.

I'll stand by it. Obviously it's terrible, and I feel for her family and friends. I'm just saying I'm personally unmoved by her death.

That doesn't mean I condone her murder. Of course I don't, and I hope justice is done.
