Suspicious death, suspected murder. Think there is a press conference soon.

I saw the Adam Boulton interview and it was striking just how sexist and uneccesary his language was. A female Reform politician was interviewed on Sky News in a later programme and called it out.

I don’t get why he thinks it’s ok. He should be off air permanently.

ForeverNowWithin · 10/07/2026 20:20

100% this. Something those on the left are in constant denial about.

Don’t use the death of this woman to come up with your ridiculous competition

Whyohwhy1974 · 10/07/2026 20:04

I'm not sure how I can be any clearer.

You could try and explain what you meant?

SwedishEdith · 10/07/2026 20:20

You're coming across as someone who spreads misinformation.

Did you mean to quote me? They weren't covering it when I switched on earlier, I'm not saying they didn't cover it the entire day I just expected it to be the biggest news story still that's all.

This really isn’t tne thread for you to use as a platform to attack people, pick another one.

They were spot on.

purser25 · 10/07/2026 20:40

I wouldn’t call 78 that old though interesting that she had a carer.

How awful, Adam Boulton, pondering whether Ann was a virgin on Sky. Woman is murdered and so he thought it appropriate to reduce her to her sexual history. Disgusting creep.

Wtf how incredibly inappropriate! I highly doubt he'd have said that if she were a man. I can't understand how anyone could murder a defenceless elderly woman like that, she must have been terrified. I'm not sure if I've missed anything but is there any idea of the motive yet? Could it have been in the course of a robbery?

Olive123456 · 10/07/2026 20:42

Shareadog · 10/07/2026 17:20

Why?! Pointing out that if you live your life telling others how awful they are and how you want to get rid of them then you’re more likely to get targeted isn’t offensive. She was a horrible woman. She shouldn’t have been murdered. Those two things can co exist

You're beyond horrible.

Delladuck · 10/07/2026 20:44

I didn't agree with her views or politics but did admire her

She was amazing when she took on mick (my phone just tried to change that to sick-its right) philpot (who killed 6 of his dc in a house fire)

He went to hit her (or she thought he was going to slap her) and she didn't finch, she stood up to the sick bastard (who was used to people cowering from him)

She was also in a programme about the workhouse (I caught it on youtube) and she was a force of nature on it

I admired her personality, how she stood by what she believed and how she came across as a woman

Rest in peace Anne, the world won't be the same without you

Anyone laughing or gloating about her death,I hope they reserve a place in hell for you and I hope it's hotter than you imagine

MaturingCheeseball · 10/07/2026 20:45

Just saw that The Socialist Worker said “Hurrah! Ann Widdecombe is Strictly dead!” AFTER the murder information.

No further comment necessary.

He was quoting her words. I suspect it was meant to be respectful however, I also suspect that the reason Anne Wisdicombe used those words to describe herself was in reaction to/an attempt to preempt other people insulting her with the same words. So while I suspect it was meant to demonstrate a certain respect for her toughness I think it showed a lack of sensitivity at worst. But I don't think the intention was bad and I don't think it makes Bolton disgusting.

You suspect? It sounds like you're making excuses for him. His words absolutely are disgusting.
Adam Boulton has form btw. There was another incident where he was caught shouting and swearing at Beth Rigby when he thought the mic was off. She was his deputy at the time. Awful man.

Maybe assisted suicide? Although I admit, that doesn't seem a very Ann Widdecombe thing to do.

Without want to sound bad, was anyone else surprised she was only 78?

No chance. She is a regular on The Mike Graham Show ( on Youtube) and was on it Monday this week, her usual stalwart self.

People must be hearing more news and statements than me. Police eventually stated that her death was suspicious. That means they don't know. Then it was announced that they were investigating a possible murder. To me, that implies further onvestigation to ascertain whether injury was accidentally self inflicted or had been administered to her. They have not stated, to my awareness, that they've decided it was murder. Just a suspicious death (this is what it's called when it's not known if foul play is involved), and that there was a person of interest they wanted to find and interview. He is now in custody, being questioned on suspicion of murder. Just suspicion. The only person who's called it murder, to my awareness, is the leader of the Conservative Party, who is either assuming it was murder, only because police said that they were investigating whether it was murder/deliberate or not, or else she's been told something by the police that we haven't. She said something like, it's awful to think she was murdered. But the police officially haven't told us she was.

I thing you mean 'he'. Heather Herbert is male.

Indeed he is. I will never forget him talking about having to 'dilate' while lying down in the disabled toilets at an airport WITH A PHOTO! Shock. Creepy guy who was desperate to invade women's single sex spaces [shudder].

If you are being arrested on suspicion of murder then it is probably murder.

VanessaFence · 10/07/2026 20:53

As much as I'd disagree with Ann Widdecombe, the vile misogyny spouted by public figures about her is disgusting (if not surprising). The speed at which "decent" men reach for slurs like "spinster" or comments about her looks shows just how far we still have to go. There's nothing certain men hate more than a woman who refuses to pander to the male gaze.

AnAlpacaForChristmasPleaseSanta · 10/07/2026 20:56

Other than arresting someone for murder. Which suggests they might have made their minds up.

Also let's not forget this is another woman murdered by a man.

I'll be honest, I read the quotes on here and assumed that he was doing a memoriam thing. But when I actually listened to the elpartsnof the episode it was much worse than I'd thought it would be.

bafta16 · 10/07/2026 21:00

I didn't like her views.
I'm sorry she died like this.
I'm thankful the perpetrator wasn't " an immigrant"

I don't know what sort of kickback they've had but they've taken it down now. Unfortunately for them a lot of people had already seen it. And the headline still comes up on Google.

Couldn’t believe it when it popped up on my phone! What on earth?

Likewise, it's shocking.

I'd seen the earlier death announcement and assumed one of the health conditions of old age had struck.

They’ve arrested someone on suspicion of murder.

They also knew exactly who to look for.

Obviously they might have got the wrong guy or he may be innocent still but usually they need enough evidence to arrest them.

It’s more likely the issue will now be for the courts to decide if it was murder or manslaughter.
