Oh i was listening to the police officer doing the press conference I guess i should be listening to journalists instead.

I wrote this before the police statement.

Such sad news. I am local to her, given I am a total stranger to her she was always incredibly lovely when you crossed paths with her. May she rest in peace.

It’s not just ‘ an old white woman, ’ but a popular mp, plus she won a lot of hearts on Strictly.

And yes, , if the ethnicity hadn’t been mentioned, there could be protests.

If you really can’t see the difference between going online and encouraging others to kill people and stating you hope someone died in pain, then I’m afraid I can’t help you.

I’m really surprised as he’s on Times radio. Presenters are usually better than that derogatory sexist language.

I DIDNT SAY it was . I said ‘likely’ and ‘I bet’.
I said she had the ‘bravery to stand up to Jonathan Willoughby’ - which she did and my right to say that is legally protected. Fact!

If you are going to use my words against me use ones I have actually used.

I’ve read her words 1000 times and using the English language to its fullest with every definition of every word Lucy used I still can’t see where she ‘encouraged others to kill people’ .

I abhor her political and other views, but no way should she have died in this appalling way.

I don't think Ann Widdecombe was scared of anyone or anything. As a devout Christian she would not have been scared of death. I'd like to think she went down fighting.

I think it’s becoming standard practice to announce the ethnicity and/or nationality of a suspect in a high profile case these days.

Adam Boulton is a piece of shit. This whole thing and the reactions to it has made me hate humanity.

I think that’s to try and stop hate crimes/riots.

Was he quoting her? Those are all terms she has used about herself in defiance of those who said it behind her back.

She spoke a number of times about her beliefs on marriage and sex and how she saw nothing shameful about being a spinster and a virgin or an old maid and a virgin. She objected to them being used as derogatory terms.

Completely agree with this. I remember Mick Philpott trying to intimidate her when she did that programme with him and he failed dismally. She stood by her principles and had the courage of her convictions.

I'm not trying to shut anyone up for not agreeing with me. You can disagree all you like.

I will try to shut people up who deliberately seek to spread disinformation. And don't try to claim that you weren't trying to do this - someone pointed out immediately that the police had said that there was no evidence of the crime being politically motivated, and you made it abundantly clear that you didn't believe the police statement.

If you had not heard the police statement, then you should not have posted such toxic speculative comments in the first place. But it suited you to do so because it helps you to promote your own political agenda.

He was being derogatory and I doubt she loved being told how unattractive she was on a regular basis. I saw a clip from a Louis Theroux documentary and he started along the same lines and she told him she only agreed to do the documentary if he didn’t pursue that line of questioning because she didn’t like it or see it as anyone else’s business. She also said that while she knew that people thought she didn’t give a shit about her appearance that wasn’t actually true. It’s so disrespectful of him to say that stuff. And he’s someone who cheated on his wife when he had young children. I really don’t want to hear his views on ideal relationships and numbers of sexual partners.

Absolutely shocking. I had little time for her politics but she was a woman of principle. She did not deserve this end. 😔

I didn't agree with her politics and views, but I think it's absolutely awful if she has been murdered.
Some of the comments I've seen online are just foul.

It's awful, very shocking.

I didn't agree with her politics, particularly regarding Brexit, but nobody deserves this. Nobody.

I do remember her on Strictly Come Dancing. She was so bad that she was fun to watch, and she knew it.

We have seen her say differing things then. I heard her talking about sex and marriage and claiming those terms as something she not only saw no shame in but took pride in standing by her principles over the years.

I don’t think any of us have the right to take that away from her whether we agree or disagree on her views on marriage.
