@Clavinova can't really bring myself to click on the Daily Fail links, which must surely be credible.

Surprising lack of curiosity in view of your previous posts. Why do you keep posting about possible Russian interference?

The photograph of Seumas Milne with Putin is real enough;

BBC Sounds
Last October Seumas Milne, a Winchester- and Oxford-educated left-winger, was granted unpaid leave from his position at The Guardian to enter the world of political spin as executive director of strategy and communications in Jeremy Corbyn's Labour Party. The appointment wasn't without controversy. Milne has been labelled a Stalinist by David Cameron and caused division at The Guardian for chairing an event with President Putin.

And this is a quote from the Guardian;
Never forget the far left’s soft spot for thieving autocrats. Jeremy Corbyn’s spokesman, Seumas Milne, flew to Sochi to bend his knee to Putin.

Corbyn's long-standing Euroscepticism is well known, plus his comments on NATO and the Salisbury poisoning:

Starmer's trip to Hungary, Romania and Czechoslovakia aged 23 was detailed in his biography.

RedToothBrush · 09/02/2026 23:51

I think we have reached 'dead man walking' land in terms of Starmer's premiership.

NonComm · 10/02/2026 01:09

Following a petition with 114,000 signatures, MPs had a debate yesterday on Russian interference in Britain’s democracy.
Key point
Russian threat clear, present, serious
Chaired by MP Dawn Butler. Reform did not attend.
It’s on YouTube.

Nope

My first link was published by the current government a few days ago;

Between 1 July 2024 and 31 January 2026, a total of 58,539 returns were recorded (including both enforced and voluntary returns). This is a 31% increase on the 44,626 returns recorded in the nineteen-month period ending June 2024. (1 December 2022 to 30 June 2024)

On small boats - more arrivals than any other prime minister;

More small boat migrants come to Britain under Starmer than any other PM.

A total of 65,922 people have made dangerous journey since Labour came to power in July 2024, data released on Monday shows.

This is an average of over 794 a week, despite Sir Keir coming in to Downing Street with a plan to “smash the gangs” that traffic people across the Channel.

Nope, More almost double, came to the UK under the Tories.

I also believe the highest yearly total was in 2022, significantly higher than in 2024 or 2025, over 45k in '22, 40k in 2025.....

Can't be helped your lot changed PM so often!

But X channel migrant is tiny in comparison to the totals the Tories under Sunak let in, no checks, nothing.... 1.5m in 2023, and 1.2m by June 2024, yet the Cons have the nerve to blame Labour for migrant violence on women.

Under the Labour, net migration has successfully fallen to around 220k, in the last year of Sunak, it was approx 1,000,000.....

Hazlenuts2016 · 10/02/2026 07:56

@Clavinova I don't know why you keep talking about Corbyn, who has been expelled from the labour party. I thought he was the worst thing to happen to Labour. And I will never listen to the Daily Mail on anything.

Hazlenuts2016 · 10/02/2026 07:59

@Clavinovaand what has Starmer's trips to those European countries got to do with the price of fish? Talk about clutching at straws.

Well its just Interesting, isn't it. I wonder what he was doing there? Why would he chose communist countries? Surely we can extrapolate that he was making contacts for future use, aimed at undermining the UK and supporting a tyrannical regime?

You really do need to stop making things up.... Starmer went to help build a memorial to those murdered by the Nazi's.

You really do have a very fertile imagination..... wasted on a forum, maybe we could crowd fund a Creative writing course for you?

Well thats an Interesting comment too. Why would you dismiss it so easily by explaining what he was actually doing there? Surely that means you too must be a communist sympathiser seeking to bring down democracy in the UK and replacing it with a kleptocracy sympathetic to Putin in the vein of Belarus?? Its all Very Suspicious...

Sauce for the goose etc. Just following @Hazlenuts2016 example regarding Russian interference.

You mean the exodus that began after Brexit - known as the Boris wave? Of course the fact that neither of the last two Tory PMs lasted 19 months might also be a factor.

Hazlenuts2016 · 10/02/2026 08:20

@Pineneedlesincarpet I'm sure he has visited loads of countries.

@Pineneedlesincarpet I'm sure he has visited loads of countries.

Well you never can tell what he was up to in those days going behind the Iron Curtain. He clearly was a Communist Sympathiser in his youth (despite the Soviet Union being a mass-murdering tyrannical regime) and that will mean he must be a Communist Sympathiser now. I thought those were the rules these days?

BIossomtoes · 10/02/2026 08:43

He clearly was a Communist Sympathiser in his youth

Was he? Is there any verifiable evidence of that?

PoachedSmoke · 10/02/2026 08:48

We can only hope this manages to drive that spineless flip flop out. But sadly I suspect he'll find a way to stay.

Although Im sure we would be able to dredge up some right wing school friends of his youth that will allege that he was.

Hazlenuts2016 · 10/02/2026 09:02

@Pineneedlesincarpet well that would have happened by now if it was true. Which it isn't. But over 30 people have witnessed Farage's racist bullying behaviour and he hasnt changed. And Starmer isn’t referenced in the Epstein files. But Farage is many a time and I'm just waiting for an investigation into why.

He's referred to by other people who are talking about him, as I understand it.

I dont think the right need to dredge up people from Starmer's schooldays to get rid of him. He seems to be doing a fairly good job of that himself.

You re getting there, develop a story line first, draw up your hero's and villains... defo promise!

Russian interference is happening, be in it elections, Summer and Winter Olympics, funding of political parties... only a complete idiot would dismiss the reach of the Kremlin.

Alexandra when you say Kremlin interference in the Olympics, do you mean judges are bribed or have pressure put on them to give higher scores?

Bad luck, the Daily Mail, Telegraph, GB News and the Standard are all reporting that Keir Starmer has the worst record on small boat arrivals than any other PM.

But X channel migrant is tiny in comparison to the totals the Tories under Sunak let in, no checks, nothing

I believe there are checks when migrants apply for a visa to enter the country - unlike the people arriving unannounced on our beaches, many without proof of ID. The public care about small boat arrivals and Starmer is currently seen as failing in this area, despite promising to “smash the gangs”.

Under the Labour, net migration has successfully fallen to around 220k, in the last year of Sunak, it was approx 1,000,000.....

Net migration YE June 2024 (Sunak's last year in office) was 649,000
Net migration YE Dec 2024 (revised figure) was 345,000
Net migration YE June 2025 was 204,000

Net migration has fallen largely due to policies introduced by the Conservative government, albeit correcting their own homework. Labour's white paper on immigration was only published in May 2025.

You said you were worried about Russian interference in the Brexit referendum, you told me to read an interesting thread - which in case you hadn't noticed mentions Jeremy Corbyn and Seumas Milne several times.

Have you heard of journalist Carole Cadwalladr? She used to write for the Guardian. Some people think she's a loopy-loo conspiracy theorist but she was highly suspicious of Seumas Milne - she used to tweet about Milne's personal connection to Putin and his influence on Jeremy Corbyn.

Starmer's trips to communist states after university? Perhaps a clue here;

The International Revolutionary Marxist Tendency (IRMT), founded in 1965, was an international Marxist group based in France, led by Michel Pablo, also known as Michael Raptis, the former secretary of the Trotskyist Fourth International.
As well as number of English-language publications in the 1960s and 1970, the British section ... was behind the magazine Socialist Alternatives of which current UK Prime Minister and Labour Party leader Sir Keir Starmer was an editorial board member from 1986 to 1989.
