It's really been astonishing how in the last few days, people - mostly of the liberal Democratic party - are staggering with fury and panic over the latest from Trump. It reminds me of the awfulness of his first round, where every morning I would cringe to hear on the radio of a new outrage or scandal.

At present, Trump just nominated for Attorney General, the highest law enforcement office in the country, Matt Gaetz, who, among other crimes, has been under a cloud for sex-trafficking of minors. ("The investigation focused on his alleged involvement with a 17-year-old and whether he had paid for sex or paid for women to travel across state lines for sex, which would violate trafficking laws.")

Are you saying that Americans will feel the same way we do about this shambles of a Labour Government. I thought The Tories were bad, but Labour have taken it to new levels of catastrophe. They have only been in power for a few months. The latest shambles about The COTE is unbelievable. How has she not been sacked already. Any other job in the land, she would be gone at once.

Yep, there are tons of people like that, the last people who should ever vote for the GOP (even without Trump) yet they worship him. It's some kind of mass hysteria, almost like a mind virus.

I'm sick of hearing this drivel that the voters must have had a good reason and we should respect their choice. Total bullshit. The truth is that people are irrational, Trump voters most especially so. People do not always make decisions for good reasons, in fact I would argue they most often don't.

Lots of us think that a steaming pile of shit would still be better than the Tories, given the absolute mess they made of running the country. I’m not a Labour voter but they’re doing infinitely better than the Tories who are the very definition of a shambles.

And yet, even how horrendously bad the Tories were, I still think that Trump is infinitely worse on just about every level.

Personally I don’t think that’s remotely likely - I think Musk has a different game plan, one that will benefit the companies he runs. I think he wants to have the ears of those in power so things happen in the way that he wants. I’m not sure Musk is interested in being President.

Biden is the one who has brought us closer to war with his decision regarding the supply of weapons to Ukraine. He won't have to deal with the consequences even if he was capable. But no. Let's all pile in and insult Trump. Same old.

I think Trump is a dangerous maniac, and the concern is warranted.

However, I have no idea what Biden is doing or what the sudden agreement for Ukraine to use US weapons is all about. It feels like terrible timing and reckless, and I completely share your concerns about what comes next.

I may despise Trump but I’m also very willing to admit when the Democrats act in a concerning way. Biased commentary and lack of fairness is how the US got into this mess.

It’s almost as if you assume that everyone else behaves in the same way you do….

I was alarmed when I heard Biden had agreed to allow US weapons. It's good you share my concern. But I don't think for a minute Biden decided on this alone. It seems strange to escalate the war and provoke Putin when a change of government in the US is imminent.

One theory is that this will turn the war much hotter and thus harder to reach a compromise, for example by Trump.
