Never seen anything like the U.S. fury and panic

It's really been astonishing how in the last few days, people - mostly of the liberal Democratic party - are staggering with fury and panic over the latest from Trump. It reminds me of the awfulness of his first round, where every morning I would cringe to hear on the radio of a new outrage or scandal.

At present, Trump just nominated for Attorney General, the highest law enforcement office in the country, Matt Gaetz, who, among other crimes, has been under a cloud for sex-trafficking of minors. ("The investigation focused on his alleged involvement with a 17-year-old and whether he had paid for sex or paid for women to travel across state lines for sex, which would violate trafficking laws.")

A pretty good marker as to how intelligent or mature a post actually is, is to look at the number of crying with laughter emojis they place at the end of their post.

Just saying, like.

GMTA. I just said the same. Pathetic, isn't it.

Although the individuals are utterly grim and the very worst of human behaviour, a good bit of me suspects that is a useful distraction from the real business, which is grift.

Last time the orange twat gave humongous tax breaks and increased inequality to unseen levels, also promoted corruption. They are there to fill their already capacious pockets, but this time on a permanent basis, as they will further undermine democracy too.

Trump spent a huge portion of his time at Mar-a-Lago, his own resort/gated community

This meant all his staff and Secret Service guards had to travel down with him, be accommodated and fed - all at the taxpayers' expense

His presidency quite possibly saved his resort from going under

The majority of people had a different opinion to you and therefore they are......... "Irrational". The sheer arrogance of that statement astounds me. What a toddler. 🤣

That is not why. It's not that the opinion is different, it's that it's based on fantasies and fears, not reason.
Naturally, you wouldn't understand. I doubt there is much you do understand.

Unless you live in America you don't have a choice but to accept it, what do you think you can actually do about it anyway?

There is nothing I can do about it. So that means I shouldn't comment because....?

XChrome · 19/11/2024 20:57

RingoJuice · 19/11/2024 04:41

She probably had very good reasons for voting Trump, and you think you know better somehow?

You do not

That was a general comment, not about any particular person. I don't know the person in question.
It's a fallacy to assume people's decisions must be rational, since often they are not.
Your response to that point would be what? Why is it probable that voters have good reasons for choosing as they do?

In your opinion it is based on fears and fantasy. The majority in America think differently.

What do the majority of Americans think?

YankTank · 19/11/2024 21:44

We actually don’t know….out of 258.3 million American adults, 76.6 million voted for Trump.

Well it’s pretty obvious what they’ll think once the effects of massive tariffs on imports hit their pockets, alongside the removal of their healthcare. Seems blindingly obvious to anyone with a brain.

And then they’ll look over to Musk and other multi billionaires that have suddenly got much richer… hmm.

Lonelycrab · 19/11/2024 22:13

The MAGA crowd will kind of stare blankly at those facts though, not really understanding what they’ve voted for.

I think the sheer number of laughing emojis at the moment is more indicative of how tragically comic the behaviour of the Left is at this time.

Their eyes are bulging, veins in their neck throb, froth spews from their sneering pieholes as they try to come to terms with the Trump victory.

While struggling with that, they are also trying to defend the indefensible. This shambles of a Labour government.

They know that it is an impossible task, given how bad Two-Tier Keir and his cronies have been as they lurch from one disaster to the next on a daily basis However, they take solace in the only defence they have. The old.......

"But what about The Tories".

The only problem with this meagre defence is that the people who rightfully criticise our current catastrophe of a government were equally critical of the wretched Tories.

Our whole political class are inept, and what makes it even worse is that they are being guided/controlled by an equally inadequate Civil Service. What a pickle.

One doesn't know whether to 😂 or 😪.

Very good dear.

Now could you answer me this question;

Do you think the imposition of huge import tariffs and the removal of healthcare for the majority of US citizens will be a positive thing for those citizens, or will they infact be shafted by those policies?

A simple yes or no answer will do. Or if you prefer, answer with an emoji.

Wow, you actually got one thing right. Yes, that is my opinion. Kudos in recognizing that reality.

I'd say you're attempting a bandwagon fallacy with your remark about what the majority supposedly thinks, but I know you have no idea what that is.

Methinks emoji gal doesn't know what a tariff is. Neither does Trump. He still thinks the exporter pays them rather than the importer.

1dayatatime · 19/11/2024 23:46

@XChrome

"He still thinks the exporter pays them rather than the importer."

More accurately the buyer of the imported goods pays for the tariff in the form of a higher price for that imported good. That is of course until the buyer chooses to switch to a cheaper domestically produced alternative instead.

Clearly that is not always possible for example there are no domestically produced oranges or bananas in the UK but as a substitute there are domestically produced apples.

Rachel757677 · 19/11/2024 23:55

@XChrome . Well, I know what the majority of Americans think about who they want to be their next President. They literally just had a vote on it. They chose The Don. Deal with it!!!! You surely cannot remain this angry until the next GE in the US? You'll do yourself a mischief. 🤣

DreamTheMoors · 20/11/2024 00:07

You missed the 2020 election @MsAmericaand the insurrection and bipartisan investigation and the hundreds of arrests and convictions and imprisonments??
I think there was a DOJ investigation too, I can’t remember.
Oh yeah 60+ court cases by Trump, et al, all overturned except one.
I’d say that was a far larger overreaction.
I left the Republican Party on 6 January 2021, but hadn’t voted Republican in decades.
I guess we all have our limits.

Right, except domestically produced goods are unlikely to be less expensive even with new tariffs. The reason all the Chinese junk that gets imported is so cheap is because they pay workers next to nothing, the company can pollute as much as it likes and ignore workplace safety. For domestically produced goods there are laws to prevent all that, so it costs the companies more to operate.
It's the reason manufacturing has all but died out in the west.
If Trump actually did put a 60% tariff on Chinese goods it could even the price difference out, but it would also cause massive shortages and put companies out of business, leading to huge levels of unemployment. The car industry, for example, relies on imported parts which are not being made in the US at all. Remember also that when goods are scarce, inflation is the result.
The proposed tariffs would be a complete disaster for the American people.

That's quite a long winded way to say; "I don't know what a tarrif is."

I know many things about tariffs XChrome. First and foremost I know how to spell the word, unlike you. Here, have some laughing emojis on me. 🤣🤣🤣

See what your inability to accept the results of a democratic election is doing to you XChrome. It has robbed you of your ability to spell. I fear you'll be left an empty shell of a woman if you cannot come to terms with Cackles defeat.

Now, I've enjoyed trying to help you left leaning ladies come to terms with your TDS. However, I must get some beauty sleep.

Remember though...... Only by coming together as one can we overcome your terrible affiction.

Ooh, you caught a typo. Here's an emoji for you; 🙄.
I've noticed grammatical and punctuation errors in your posts. Example; look in the post I'm responding to. I bet you can't spot it. I'm not 13 years old, so I don't get petty about such things. It's small minded and puerile. You continue to show your arse with each and every post.

Please do explain what a tariff is, child. Then explain what Trump's plan is and how it will benefit America. One can only assume that you've been deflecting and evading the question because you simply have no idea.

It's too bad for you that there's no such thing as intelligence sleep or integrity sleep.

Box of eggs is ten dollars in America....lol ...you can buy a dozen eggs in America for the price of six in the UK. Just shows you how much people believe Twitter now...the shops are selling them for 3 dollars but his twitter account is tagged at 10 dollars...so hey eggs are ten dollars.
