Can't berate Starmer for this but think some parents will be aghast.

I genuinely think it’s dawning on many of those who voted Labour in July - just how bad this government are proving to be.

No it's really not. We had 14 years of an utter shit show, the most corrupt administration this country has ever seen. The errors Labour have committed so far (and this is not one of them) are but a tiny drop in the ocean compared to what we have had to put up with over the last decade.
What do you people actually want as an alternative? Who should be running the country now?

I am so sick of these posts now.
There was no 20k. He had to put a value on it because he, rightly, had to declare it.
His son went and studied at the home of a friend. Because he could not do it at home due to the constant press attention and distractions. Yes Keir Starmer has rich friends. Anyone who has had the careeers he has had will be the same.
I genuinely do not understand what he has done wrong here?

His son was revising at the apartment until 13th July for GCSEs which ended on 19th June?

Give the pensioners their fuel allowance leave the PS fees alone - draw a line under it and start governing - we all make mistakes

This is good point. If they accepted mistakes, with WFA and PS, said comprehensive IA showed no money to be gained/ impact too harsh, let's move on, they'd gained some respect and trust. But they are doubling down instead to show how decisive and strong they are, "ready to be unpopular".

Another poster last night led me to an interesting consortium who buy up companies, paying billions.

They've bought up pet stores and veterinary services all over the states. They've also bought up hospitals all over Asia.

Imagine if they started buying hospitals here, they would transform them both bricks and mortar, services, staffing, IT. Starmer spoke of digitising the NHS I wonder if he has some new friends, as Blair did and does.

Let's face it throwing money at the NHS is like bailing out a boat with a leaky bucket.

Things are going to change in ways we don't know yet.

I don't really understand your post. Are you saying that Labour is planning on selling the NHS off to one of these consortiums because one of their aims is to digitise it? If you are saying that, how did you come to that conclusion?

Have they run country through Covid and war in Ukraine with all its impacts?

Sure they'd do this better?

I’m sick of Labour voters refusal to accept the political landscape we are operating in. Financial privilege has been used (by Starmer and no doubt his rich friends) to gain academic advantage for his child, after telling others this is wrong. That hypocrisy is plain for all to see. Sadly Labour doesn’t actually represent left wing politics.

God, this is so true.

It’s actually amusing seeing them trying to cough and splutter and make pathetic excuses for what has already turned into a shitshow of a government.

Labour are just wolves in sheep’s clothing but who also try to occupy some moralistic pedestal in which they talk down to those who don’t think like them. They are the biggest hypocrites of the lot.

I can’t wait to see them fall.

Same! Nasty and vindictive lot who have inflicted a lot of uncertainty across many families and pensioners all over the country…. All the while greedily grabbing all the freebies and allowances possible! Meanwhile the rest of us stress about how we are going to pay for everything let alone have any (god forbid!) aspirations!

Precisely, aspirations are only for Starmer’s and his rich mates kids. The rest of us need to use our children as state school sacrificial lambs or else be called disgusting Tories. I’ve zero interest in levelling down my child’s education to benefit my local Harris schools, which were interestingly sold to Lord Harris (Tory donor) by the previous Labour government. It’s verging on Kafkaesque.

How many press were outside their house?

Why was it ok for the daughter and his wife to have this constant press attention and disruption outside the home.

Was the 16 year old alone? Because the flat owner wasn’t there? Why would you move a 16 year old to live alone, further away from their school for GCSEs then not bring him home for another month?

Who was looking after him? Or the daughter? I have heard KS wife works in the NHS? How was she juggling all this? With all the press intrusion outside her home?

Or is it a pile of shite like when KS pretended he was at home, while telling us to stay at home? But actually in that flat? With family photos around them? Weird to have your family photos in a mates flat.

Pretty sure other officials got sacked for being in other or second properties of their own.

Exactly, wish he had told us that it ‘please stay at home or travel to your wealthy mates flat’ I would have a much better lockdown.

I think me and the kids would have been much happier in one of the flats owned by a friend of mine in London.

Wasn't there a whole hoo ha about people traveling to their holiday homes?

What gives with this

And then he sets up the scene. Numpty

Now I think of it there was a whole issue around cake, so was this setting up a flat to look like his now house when we were told to stay at home better or worse

I would actually like a sensible centre left party running the country.

Sadly there ain't no such thing.

I am absolutely with you on that.

upinaballoon · 27/09/2024 10:24

Do you think Sunak was incompetent when he had to find a way to deal with the Covid lockdown months, being Chancellor at the time?

Yes Eat out to help out, VIP lanes for PPE and Covid support loans, of which £11 billion will never be repaid.

Furlough was far too generous, and used fraudulently.

He signed all of this off, plus he used £8m of Tax payers money to fund a helicopter for himself, even Boris used a train!!!

Talking of advice given, Sunak ignored any given to him, as the Covid inquiry has been told.

The wider point is, that if the Tories were so competent, we'd have lower public debt & better public services, so France and Germany have seen public debt fall since Covid, France by 10%, more to do of course but ours is going up as are taxes and thats the Tory projection!

The country is in a mess, after 14 years of the Tories, which is why your policies were widely rejected.

Its sweet to see Tories on here soooooo incensed at being out of power for at least 5 years, lol!!!

EasternStandard · 27/09/2024 12:55

I think it's quite good people are seeing Labour without the nonsense toolmaker arrogance and other pre GE rubbish, outside pro Labour on mn of course.

Polling came back with Liar as top, not great. And that was before the latest on 'my boy'

And finally some realisation policies are duds.

Care to address today and tomorrow?

Old flip flop Starmer and Reeves, when they actually look at the economics rather than the ideology.

The promised 6,500 teachers will prove interesting when they raise fuck all from the PS VAT raid.

40,000 teachers left the profession in 2023, 24% of these left teaching within 3 years of starting.
A shocking way to run state education, don't you think?

Getting 6700 to return to teaching, isn't an impossibility, together with changing TC's to try and increase retention.

Ideology? the only party with an engrained ideology were the Tories and Austerity, needed for 3 or 4 years but carried on for 14years, with disastrous results.

Hence why they/you are in opposition, though i use that word loosely, with just 121 MPs & i'm sure a few more will defect at some point soon.

They still haven't realised why they were rejected so roundly, as this thread proves.

All political leaders during CV moved about, Sunak from London to Yorkshire & back, Boris to/fro Chequers and Starmer too.

There is plenty to have a go at Labour about without making stuff up.

I think you will find Labour is doing a perfectly good job of that on their own. They also have form for privatising and selling off public services to private Tory donors, like the many failing schools they sold to Lord Harris.

As if anyone needs to make anything up, Labour is running this circus perfectly well on their own. The media are merely doing their job and publicising the shocking behaviour - as they should do. Bizarre that anyone who is a fan of left-leaning politics would want to silence the media or any other conflicting opinions (based on fact), highly irregular and frankly not very liberal.

It would appear that the left is in favour of obfuscating freedom of speech, both from its own advisors, electorate, unions and of course the public? Frightening times. Starmer is a dangerous monster in my eyes and I didn't have a kind word to say about the Tories.
