Can't berate Starmer for this but think some parents will be aghast.

Tories shut down all the libraries.

Past vs present.

Ownership vs deflection.

It was wrong when Johnson thought the rules (or more accurately the spirit) didn't really apply to him and it was equally wrong and also stupid of Starmer to accept these kind of freebies . He doesn't even have the excuse of not having the money to put his own hand into his pocket like the rest of us.

I actually agree with you. It was stupid and naive and I’m furious about it. But nonetheless it is within current rules and he did declare it. It’s only because they declared it all that we even know about it. So please berate them - because it’s not just Starmer - all you like for taking donations but accusations of deception are unwarranted.

By the way, I haven’t minimised any of it as a “mate’s spare room”, nonetheless using an empty flat is in no way the same as being given thousands of £.

Whilst he was telling us to stay home not mix at Christmas he was sitting in a mates flat.

Sorry no better than Cummings.

If this were a Tory taking all these backhanders and freebies Labour would be going crazy shouting jobs for the boys, Tory Sleaze, corruption, old boys network etc. Yet here is Starmer taking tens of thousand of freebies, he's no different to any of the others. A pure 100% hippocrite.

No they wouldn't no one is bring up Jenrik receiving gifts of £75000.00 for his Tory leadership bid, from a non traceable off shore BVI account.... could be from anyone.

But thats all ok.

and he has called out Starmer on receiving gifts and saying he wouldn't do it! so its current and relevant but who criticising Labour, are equally scarthing of Jenrik?

At least we know who is giving gifts to Labour as they are telling us all, hence the faux outrage.

The Jenrik thing stinks, should have been refused. If you or I deposited that amount in our account, we'd have beady money laundering HMRC asking questions

Not with posters on here.

Bit like the poster telling us "How can Starmer sleep when pensioners will die of the cold"

Same poster poo hoo'ed the deaths of 14000 patients, mostly elderly who died because of poor AE treatment.

Yes, as would your bank, this is real corruption, this man in a few weeks could be Leader of the opposition and potentially PM.
Badenoch took £10,000 from the chair of a climate denial group but at least we know where this came from.

Taking gifts and declaring them on the members register, might be unwise but it is far from corrupt.

We all know about it, its transparent, stupid but thats a different matter.

Spot on. Anyone who begrudges a kid a quiet room for revision when his dad’s constantly besieged by the media should really take a look at themselves.

Keir and children didn't live in a 2 bed on the 10th floor of a tower block before they moved to NO10. Pretty sure they would have had a room at home their son could study in.

BaconMassive · 26/09/2024 14:40

Seems like a witch hunt.

Isn't there any better news than child uses room to revise?

I understand that otherwise renting that room may have cost £20,000 but was that put to Starmer at the time?

lol. Yes it was just a room, and not a flat. How Ill informed.

I know right. What is the supposed noise anyway

No one is camping outside Keir's door. He did actually do campaigning, press could just turn up to that. So bogus

Pictures of the "room" when it was up for sale.

The thing that really grates about Starmer, is that he has this most unfortunate holier-than-thou attitude. He is right, and you are not to question him (eg Sue Grays salary).

This imperial attitude does nothing to endear him to people - many of whom voted for him.

Its a really unlikeable character trait.

That’s not the story at all though is it.

And pretending ‘child uses room to revise’ is the actual story, doesn’t make people think that’s the story.

The story is more KS pretending he accepted something to benefit his son because he thinks that’s ok and people are stupid and will shut up and believe him.

That’s like saying the whole Tories having a party during lockdowns was just ‘work colleagues getting to getter and having cake and a drink’.

The man is a slimy slippery toad and Rayner is no different. Pleading poverty then grabbing all the luxury lifestyle options as soon as offered. Same as working class Prescott playing croquet with millionnaires as soon as the chance arose. Champagne socialists the lot of them.

Edited

Rayner is a self-confessed gob, a diversity hire, and a union patsy.

Her Tory ‘scum’ comment says it all.

I agree, Blossom.

This issue (& others), was thoroughly aired in last week's Question Time. If you didn't see it, it's worth watching. I was particularly impressed by Tim Farron.

Your last sentence is not something you read very often!

upinaballoon · 26/09/2024 15:31

Angela Rayner is to Keir Starmer what (two Jags) John Prescott was to Tony Blair - the bit of rough that was supposed to keep everyone thinking that the party was heavily into the working class. Hardly anyone dares utter the words working-class nowadays. They saying 'working people' and I think that includes everyone except a small number of members of the upper classes.

I think Keir said nice things about looking after working people, somewhere in the sausage speech. Goodo, I was working hard in the garden this morning.

She’s basically a union hire and starmer can’t get rid, she’s earning well into six figures and swanning about in expensive freebie clothes with her hands out.

they know they are fucking it, can’t get over their luck of getting in, and are going to milk it for five years.

upinaballoon · 26/09/2024 15:35

On the Beeb news a few days ago, it showed Angela Rayner walking along in a red dress and then Rachel Reeves walking along in a suit. The commentary was about these gifts. Was that red dress one of the 'gift' dresses or was it just any old dress, for the TV just to have a pic of her?

Blair/Starmer also didnt want a 2nd in command to upstage them, which would obvs never happen with Prescott/Rayner. Prescott even got away with punching a protestor square in the face in the famous egg incident and nobody reallly cared.

The joke is the delusions of grandeur and the immediate shunning of the working classes that voted for them.

youd need to picture the dress, as she’s several red dresses. It’s the me and em ones I think and she’s even got suits free as well. They’ve taken thousands of pounds worth of clothing. Thousands.

@Lafondah The true working class voted Reform. All those slightly left people are middle class. The right is the working class.
