Still trying to rid the world of this troublesome twat.

Is there a time limit by when he has to pay any fines? If he doesn't pay any fines, could he go straight to jail till well after the election?

Trump was ordered to pay the fine by the close of business Friday and he must remove seven offending posts from his Truth Social account and two from his campaign website by 2:15 p.m. Eastern time Tuesday.

It would be absolute chaos if Trump was sent to prison for violating the gag order and I would fear for Merchan's safety.

But wouldn't it be just glorious?!

Thank you, @Spandauer, I'm not really keeping up at the back here as I have a physical reaction of revulsion whenever I see articles with photos or videos of the man in question, so I'm only gleaning the bare minimum with not much grasp of what's happening, whilst crossing all possible parts in the hope that someone will rid the world (by life-long incarceration) of the turbulent Trump.

And yes, it would indeed be just glorious!

BruceAndNosh · 30/04/2024 18:08

Trump will be FURIOUS.
His post court ramble to the press will be interesting...

AskingQuestionsAllTheTime · 30/04/2024 18:44

Is breaking the gag order a felony?

If so, hasn't he just smashed his bail conditions for all the cases he is involved in? Those generally include a clause about not committing any felony while out on bail.

In fact I have a feeling the Georgia one specifically mentioned not intimidating witnesses.

Am I correct that today is about people testifying that the videos are authentic?

Not sure about any videos.
Tuesday's questions were all with Keith Davidson — the Los Angeles lawyer who once represented adult-film actress Stormy Daniels — being back on the witness stand. He detailed how each of the hush money payments to Daniels and former Playboy model Karen McDougal were brokered. In his telling, all negotiations flowed through the National Enquirer and Cohen, then Trump’s attorney.

Davidson texted a National Enquirer editor to say Trump’s campaign was doomed because of the “Access Hollywood” tape. The editor said that Daniels’s account going public could be “the final nail in the coffin.”
So Daniels’s manager contacted that editor at the National Enquirer, triggering the deal with Cohen at the heart of Trump's criminal indictment.

Reader's question answered in Washington Post.

Q: Does Trump have to be convicted or acquitted on all 34 counts — or can a jury find him guilty on some and not guilty on others? Is it possible that there can be a hung — or split — jury on just some of the counts?

A: Yes, these scenarios are all possible. The indictment lists 34 felony counts under the same New York statute. Each count represents a separate instance of alleged misconduct. That means that prosecutors are alleging that Trump falsified business records 34 times — and a jury will have to decide whether he committed that crime in each of those 34 instances. The jury could find him guilty in some instances and not guilty in others. In theory, a jury can be hung on a few of the counts — rendering a mistrial on just those counts — and prosecutors could decide to retry Trump on those counts.

Mainly more of the same last week in court from Trump - Snoozing, complaining, yada yada.

Today Eric T is back in the gallery to support his father.

Judge has ruled on the 2nd gag order hearing and found Donny guilty on 2 counts. This time has given a final "sterner" warning about jail time if there are more.

Donald Trump was threatened with jail for any future violations of a limited gag order imposed in his falsifying business records case.

^^
New York Supreme Court Justice Juan Merchan made it clear to Trump that his 10th gag order violation — which he ruled on at the start of Monday’s court session — was going to be the last that would result in only a fine.
^^

“The last thing I want to do is put you in jail,” Merchan said. “You are the former president of the United States and possibly the next president as well.”

The judge noted that jailing Trump would require a monumental effort involving several law enforcement agencies including the Secret Service and New York’s corrections department.

“To take that step would be disruptive to these proceedings,” Merchan added.

I'll believe it when I see it.

I think Judge M really really wants to send him to the slammer but isn't doing it because of the 'logistics'.

I agree, and I think Trump is relying on that. But the judge will only be pushed so far (I hope).

AcrossthePond55 · 07/05/2024 14:17

Just for shits & giggles (and picturing Trump in an orange jumpsuit) I was trying to figure just what would be involved. This is pure speculation on my part:

Enhanced screening/background checks for all Corrections Officers who would or could have access to Trump's cell (ooooh, 'Trump's cell', puts a smile on your face, doesn't it?)

Probably 'dedicated' CO staff for round the clock monitoring & for dedicated 'escorts' within the jail.

Secret Service Agents would need to be there 24 hrs and would probably get some kind of special pay rate for it since it would probably include being 'accommodated' in nearby cells. This would probably include Agent(s) right by Trump's cell + Agents at various 'points of access'. Probably more than he normally has 'tailing' him.

'Secure' cell, which would probably entail other prisoners being moved and rehoused away from the area around Trump's cell, past whatever points of security (doors, hallways) they could create.

'Secure' toilet & shower area as above

I mean, they'd probably have to lock down a wing or corridor of the jail and 'lose' a good number of staff to keep Trump 'safe'. I can see Judge M wanting to avoid all that hassle & expense. But you know, there are some jurisdictions that make the offender pay a daily rate for being in jail as part of the 'punishment'. That would really grind Trump's gears. Not only being in jail, but having to pay for it himself!

Better yet, how about Judge M just 'incarcerates' him in a Motel 6 off the Jersey Turnpike.

Stormy Daniels due to give evidence today. 👀
Judge overruled Trump's lawyer's objections to her being allowed on the witness stand.
Apparently Trump's team only found out today Stormy was to be the next witness after an exec from Penguin Random House.
The publisher is tasked with bringing the Stable Genius's books into evidence - passages being read out that detail his bragging about the many women on the Apprentice who were sexually attracted to him 🤮 and the fact that he always kept a personal eye on his money/outgoings.

Watching MSNBC, but there's really nothing new being said in Stormy's testimony so far. And I think I heard that the judge has ruled out any 'salacious' testimony re their sexual encounter. Commentary & the repeating of in-court texts from reporters is going pretty fast so I'm not catching all of it.

Commentators debating on whether or not her apparent 'nervousness' is a boon to the defense or the prosecution.

I have seen it reported that Trump isn't getting advanced notice of witnesses because of his gag order violations.

I heard that too. And apparently the judge nixed advance notice to his legal team only, because (paraphrasing here) they couldn't be trusted to keep their mouths shut and not tell him.

And of course the 'unspoken' chance of witness intimidation/tampering.

Donald Trump lawyer Todd Blanche requested a mistrial as court resumed following lunch break, based on what he said was prejudicial testimony Tuesday morning from Stormy Daniels about “the alleged incident” of sex with Trump.

Justice Juan Merchan said a mistrial is not warranted, even though Stormy Daniels was allowed to say some things during her testimony that the jury should not have heard.

The Donald is not happy.
Ketchup bottles may be hitting the wall tonight.

You know, if a mistrial was declared every time a witness uttered anything 'prejudicial' (ie in the least bit 'negative') no one would ever be convicted of anything, would they?

I couldn't bring myself to post any of the details... still trying to bleach my brain! 🤮

I wonder if the prosecution planned the questioning so that Stormy could "drop in" all the extra details? Or if she saw the opportunity and just went for it?
The jury can be instructed to ignore those bits - but once heard....
