I think you've nailed it.
Hes talking about Nikki Hayley, yknow the one in charge of security on Jan 6th!....

I think you're right - he's confusing Harris with Haley.

And this event was supposed to be him "courting" black voters... yikes!

That would make sense

TheABC · 31/07/2024 23:49

There's been speculation for months whether Trump has dementia. If it becomes very apparent, the Republicans can force a change of candidate and select Vance instead.

My guess is, they will stick with Trump as long as the polling figures stack up.

The Rules for Displacing an Ailing Presidential Candidate

What happens if a sick presidential candidate won't drop out? This hypothetical illuminates important features in the presidential electoral system.

RafaistheKingofClay · 01/08/2024 06:20

It’s been longer than months. Remember him boasting about acing the ‘difficult’ mini mental state exam during his last presidency.

He’s also the king of projection. So if he’s accusing Biden of cognitive decline there’s a good chance he knows he has a problem.

bluecomputerscreen · 01/08/2024 06:24

I saw a clip recently from t's 2020 rally and the difference to today is stark.

BruceAndNosh · 01/08/2024 07:11

Trump's insults and rudeness has definitely got worse over years, his frontal lobe must be involved

prettybird · 01/08/2024 08:38

My mother had front temporal dementia (brought on by a fronto temporal head injury).

I see a lot of similarities......

The way he walks was the first thing I noticed. The decline in language too (my mum had been an English teacher) and the over use of (simple) superlatives.

#justsaying

RafaistheKingofClay · 01/08/2024 08:42

There are definite declines in language. And his movement is an issue. Those declines were evident pre 2020 too.

USA probably needs to learn that putting people on their 70s into the White House is going to lead to issues.

TheABC · 01/08/2024 08:42

My mind is boggling that Americans would prefer an incoherent, potentially demented old man over a smart, experienced woman.

Trump: I did not know she was Black until a number of years ago, when she happened to turn Black, and now she wants to be known as Black. Is she Indian or is she Black?

This nasty little slur (almost certainly about someone else altogether) was reported on the World Service in a news bulletin this morning, absolutely straight and as if it were a fault Trump had discovered in Kamala Harris.

I am disgusted with them: very shoddy journalism.

BruceAndNosh · 01/08/2024 13:14

I'm dying to see how Fox covered this!

Who the heck on Trump's team thought this was a good idea?

Wallaw · 01/08/2024 14:09

On the plus side, that outing showed me that I still have the capacity to be shocked and horrified. I thought it had been beaten out of me since 2016, but no. Still there. Everything about it - the blatant racism, the rudeness, the entitlement, the rambling, the lies - was shocking. Even for him.

I'm really enjoying Harris goading him into debating. I can't imagine a scenario in which she doesn't absolutely destroy him, and on some level, he knows that.

Jaichangecentfoisdenom · 01/08/2024 14:51

But his language has not been good since when he was first campaigning for the Presidency - so many words and phrases he used wrongly. Who could forget: " Bigly", "Covfefe", and "very stable genius", as just some examples.
Personally, I am extremely worried by the more than 70 MAGA election officials Rachel Maddow talks about. I don't think the Democrats are sufficiently concerned about this. They will need a complete and unarguable walkover in every single state for Trump and his minions to accept any outcome other than that of Trump's victory and if that doesn't happen, the country will be absolutely screwed, with the biased SCOTUS now in place.

Spandauer · 01/08/2024 15:45

I agree - the already proclaimed refusal to accept the vote count by those officials if it goes against Trump will result in a hot mess. I am fearful for normal government employees who work in the counties/states that have been infiltrated by these election disrupters/deniers.

It still feels like a long way to go until November but for the first time since this election cycle began and it was obvious Trump was not going away anytime soon, I feel hopeful that the Democrats can hang onto power.

I agree. I've been shouting about this since the mid-terms. And for whatever reason, the party seems to have blown this off. I think for some reason the party thinks these low level offices are unimportant, they always have. I'm afraid it may be another very hard learnt lesson in the dangers of complacency, like Hilary's loss in 2016.

But no matter what, if//when Kamala wins, the Cult will scream to high Heaven and there will be calls for riots in the streets.

As far as his 'she's suddenly black' shit, that's his ridiculous way of trying to turn the black community against Kamala by insinuating that she's 'passing' as black to win their vote.

Yes, very worried about that too. It's clear the Republicans know they can't at this point win elections without manipulation and they've been laying this groundwork for the past four years.

On a more positive note, the release of the Russian hostages is an extraordinary feat of diplomacy and cooperation. The WSJ is reporting that an hour before he dropped out of the presidential race, Biden was on the phone pushing Slovakia to cooperate to finalise the exchange. I'm stunned they agreed to release Vladimir Kara-Murza. I hope all those who were so quick to call Biden useless and incompetent are having a hard look at themselves right now (although I'm still glad he dropped out and endorsed Harris).

There are multiple posts on YouTube insisting that Harris's father is white despite photos of the contrary

AcrossthePond55 · 02/08/2024 13:32

@BruceAndNosh

And why does this not surprise me?

The worst part is that the Cult will swallow it hook, line, and sinker.

There is a possibility that one of her Jamaican ancestors was a white slave-owner, I seem to remember.

This probably means that one of her slightly more recent ancestors was the product of either rape or coercion.

In any case, I get rather fed up with the fact that the "one drop of blood" types suddenly want to pretend that it applies in the other direction and one drop of white blood makes someone white. It never has before, has it?

Spandauer · 02/08/2024 20:28

Trump can't deny her now.

Vice President Harris secured a majority of the pledged delegates to the 2024 Democratic National Convention, Democratic Party officials announced Friday, officially making her the party’s presidential nominee.

Also:
Vice President Harris has narrowed her search for a running mate to six finalists and is planning to conduct interviews with them this weekend, according to two people familiar with the process who spoke on the condition of anonymity to discuss confidential deliberations.

Those finalists are Govs. Andy Beshear of Kentucky, J.B. Pritzker of Illinois, Josh Shapiro of Pennsylvania and Tim Walz of Minnesota, as well as Transportation Secretary Pete Buttigieg and Sen. Mark Kelly (Ariz.), the people said. Representatives for Beshear, Buttigieg and Shapiro confirmed that those officials had canceled previously scheduled plans for this weekend.
