It's been vaguely floated a few times. Mainly in the context that it's hardly surprising it hasn't happened since Trump has 2 nations secret services guarding him.

I refer you to the 32 year old film where it's played out as a plot line: suspicious dodgy right wing candidate with questionable connections gets a poll boost by a shonky assassination "attempt".

The both-sidesing is making me ill. I don't see how we can have a real conversation about this without acknowledging that Trump is, as David Rothkopf put it, 'one of the most dangerous advocates for such violence this country has ever seen.'

What Trump has done in the past is bad enough, it's what he (and the likes of MTG and Gaetz) will instigate in the (not so far ahead) future if he is elected again that the US (and unfortunately the rest of the world) should be very afraid of. 😔

On top of that, it's likely he will round up all undocumented immigrants and imprison them, deny Muslims the right to become citizens and continue to "other" them, encourage citizens to inform on other citizens, deny women's right to birth control, ban books and media they don't agree with and on and on. Sadly I can't vote or influence anyone in the US. My DH and DC can only vote in Presidential elections as they live in the UK. They absolutely do take an interest in what is happening in the country (US and U.K.) Their votes helped Labour get elected. Unfortunately their votes for Biden (or his replacement) in a Democratic state won't make much difference to the outcome in November.

Are we "in control"? - if we are then that control is hanging by a thread.
