Reports on sky news say that Boris might stand again for PM. How do you feel about that?

I think we need a bit more distance before he should try again. I’d rather have Theresa May or John Major back right now.

noblegiraffe · 20/10/2022 16:38

As I commented elsewhere, he didn't do much wrong.

Took bribes, appointed a Russian agent to the House of Lords against security advice, tried to amend parliamentary rules to get his corrupt mate Owen Paterson off the hook, whipping his MPs to vote for it then u-turned, appointed a known sex pest to deputy chief whip, gave Gavin Williamson a knighthood presumably as a bribe because Gav has dirt on him from his time as whip, did literally fuck all as prime minister over the summer despite impending financial crisis, is on holiday again now when he should be at work and is currently under investigation for deliberately misleading parliament.

But apart from that?

IncompleteSenten · 20/10/2022 16:39

Yeah, why not.
The world's in need of a good laugh right now.

heldinadream · 20/10/2022 16:40

If he's made PM again I fully intend to go and glue myself to the road and throw soup at everything.
Unbelievable shitshow.

LeMoo · 20/10/2022 16:41

Dodie66 · 20/10/2022 16:18

He’s on holiday at the moment.

He was on holiday when he was PM, too

FayeGovan · 20/10/2022 16:41

But noble...you are presenting facts and people/voters dont like facts...they like the image of the affable buffoon Johnson is so good at...actual facts just get in the way of that. If you put mr blobby in a suit and gave him a posh accent the majority of England would lap him up.

pompomdaisy · 20/10/2022 16:42

Oh ffs! Tories really are mental aren't they?

Croque · 20/10/2022 16:44

Boris is truly loved and always forgiven by the party members. He will never be unpopular in their eyes. He will always be their number one choice. They delight in his naughty antics as though he is a multi part Carry On film. He could sink their pensions and close their hospitals. They would not deviate from this position.

GreenLunchBox · 20/10/2022 16:46

Truss didn't even pick up the phone to Nicola Sturgeon in her hilariously short tenure.

If BlowJo comes back then the UK deserves everything they get. Double digit mortgage rates, the lot.

itsgettingweird · 20/10/2022 16:48

How do I feel?

I would hope like any same human would.

I don't want someone who lies to the monarchy, lies to the electorate, doesn't think rules apply to them, is a bully and thinks employing an abuser to a position of trust is ok.

These people are working for us to better our lives.

Johnson couldn't give a shit about anyone other than Johnson.

RudsyFarmer · 20/10/2022 16:49

I hope he does come back but I doubt he will.

asblindasabat · 20/10/2022 16:52

CaptainMyCaptain · 20/10/2022 16:20

Despite the fact that he is still an MP and should be at work representing his constituents. The man is a disgrace.

Well I mean, to be fair, everyone is entitled to annual leave and holidays.

YingMei · 20/10/2022 16:52

RudsyFarmer · 20/10/2022 16:49

I hope he does come back but I doubt he will.

@RudsyFarmer why?

CaptainMyCaptain · 20/10/2022 16:54

Hbh17 · 20/10/2022 16:28

As I commented elsewhere, he didn't do much wrong.
His support for Ukraine was important.
I didn't vote for Brexit, but the electorate did and he got it over the line.
But, as a Conservative, he should have been more libertarian and his overly harsh Covid restrictions were ridiculous.
The fuss about parties etc was totally unnecessary - I don't know anybody who cared about that, but his MPs got scared - now they are realising the truth of the phrase "be careful what you wish for"!

Lockdown prevented the NHS from being overwhelmed snd a lot of people DID care about the parties. They were laughing in the faces of the people.

asblindasabat · 20/10/2022 16:52

Well I mean, to be fair, everyone is entitled to annual leave and holidays.

They got plenty of holiday time in the summer recess.

asblindasabat · 20/10/2022 16:55

not sure I would want Labour at the helm either. I don’t think they want to remove the Northern Ireland Protocol.

Lurkerlot · 20/10/2022 16:55

Dodie66 · 20/10/2022 16:18

He’s on holiday at the moment.

Oh he does deserve one. Anyone know if it’s another freebie?

asblindasabat · 20/10/2022 16:57

CaptainMyCaptain · 20/10/2022 16:55

They got plenty of holiday time in the summer recess.

I think they still carry out duties in their constituencies though.

im not defending Boris but just saying he’s not necessarily doing anything wrong by being on holiday abroad

Notonthestairs · 20/10/2022 16:57

Parliament only sits for something like 25 weeks of the year. He could have chosen to fit annual leave around it.

noblegiraffe · 20/10/2022 16:59

asblindasabat · 20/10/2022 16:52

Well I mean, to be fair, everyone is entitled to annual leave and holidays.

I'll just take one during term time when I'm a teacher then? Because I'm entitled to a holiday whenever I like? Sounds great 👍

If you're going to argue that he was working during the summer recess, no he was on holiday then too.

ShandaLear · 20/10/2022 16:59

He didn’t ‘make a lot of mistakes’. He knowingly did a lot of things he knew were wrong but he chose to do anyway because it suited him more that doing the right thing. Putting him in No. 10 again is like getting back into bed with your abuser. You know he hurt you the last time but you believe it’ll be different this time. No, he’s not good enough. We deserve better.

NCFT0922 · 20/10/2022 17:00

It baffles me the amount of people who seem to care about how “we” look.

“we would be a laughing stock” etc. really?

@Hbh17 I agree with your post. People on here were bending over backwards trying to find loopholes to a support bubble and saying they had a drink with a work mate but it was fine because they were in a work bubble together. Hypocrites!

ShandaLear · 20/10/2022 17:01

asblindasabat · 20/10/2022 16:55

not sure I would want Labour at the helm either. I don’t think they want to remove the Northern Ireland Protocol.

To be fair, most people in NI don’t want to remove the protocol either. It’s a massive benefit.

But apart from that?

And lying to the Head if State. And illegally disbanding Parliament. And undermining the independence of the judiciary... etc.

Possiblynotever · 20/10/2022 17:01

NO.NO.NO.
For God's sake this will be the time that I go and demonstrate against the government.
He is a lazy toxic teenager.
Please God not again
