I doubt Polly will be selling her Tuscan villa any time soon, but it will be a wonderful day when the BBC's in-house journal gets what it deserves.

OP posts:
BecauseImWorthIt · 20/06/2011 12:55

Why the need to sneer? You and LFN are equally unpleasant in the way you post this stuff.

CatIsSleepy · 20/06/2011 13:01

wow OP you're a real peach aren't you

so should all the news media come from a single political angle? how unhealthy would that be?! i know let's just let murdoch run it all...

claig · 20/06/2011 15:20

I don't think complimentary is being unpleasant, just truthful about the number of copies of the Guardian left in her post office. I have heard her say this many times Smile. complimentary is a very amusing poster, guaranteed to liven things up. Grin

BecauseImWorthIt · 20/06/2011 18:12

Sneering is unpleasant though, claig ...

Gooseberrybushes · 20/06/2011 18:14

Lfn you are so wrong to applaud the loss of a left wing newspaper just because you are right wing. That's terrible.

Gooseberrybushes · 20/06/2011 18:15

Really I think it's utterly disgusting to gloat at this. Free and wide-ranging press, that's what we need.

allegrageller · 20/06/2011 19:28

gooseberry...we will never stop rightwingers gloating, it's what they do....

Gooseberrybushes · 20/06/2011 20:51

I am a right-winger Smile

Blackduck · 20/06/2011 20:59

God why did I click on the thread? Knew exactly who it was going to be, being boringly predicatable.....actually do you think this stuff is written by a bot somewhere???

claig · 20/06/2011 21:24

'I am a right-winger'

Gooseberrybushes, I always thought you were, due to the eminent sense that you so often speak. Correct me if I am wrong, but from the sagacity and perspicacity of your comments, I always had you down as a Daily Mail reader. But can you please stop gloating?

allegrageller · 20/06/2011 21:35

Oops. I was fooled by the eminent good sense of which you speak Claig, into thinking she was of my persuasion. I guess we all want to think the intelligent ones are on our side...

allegrageller · 20/06/2011 21:36

another thing Claig. YOu can write and clearly have brains. WHAT IS WITH THE FLIPPING DAILY MAIL STUFF? REALLY WHAT?? Do you work for them, is that it? Is Murdoch putting bread on the Claig family table?

claig · 20/06/2011 22:08

I don't work for the Daily Mail. I just think it is a great paper. Murdoch is not in charge of the Daily Mail. It is a beacon of hope in a murky sea, the light that enables one clearly to see.

claig · 20/06/2011 22:11

I do like to send it up a bit. It's not as great as all that, but it's damn close. Smile

complimentary · 20/06/2011 22:19

Gooseberrybushes. What loss?
Claig are you a poet and don't know it? That last post rhymed! Grin
Blackduck. The bot is called LFN.

claig · 20/06/2011 22:24

It just came out naturally, no forethought involved at all. That's what reading the Mail does to you; it's positively Shakespearean.

complimentary · 20/06/2011 22:33

BecauseImworthit. I don't sneer at that rag. The Guardian does all the sneering itself! At the working classes! They have been accused of sneering on countless occassions!
www.guardian.co.uk/media Goodnight all zzzzzzzzzzzzz

complimentary · 20/06/2011 22:37

Yes Claig. "You are a beacon of hope in a dark murky sea, the light that enables one clearly to see" Great stuff, you truly are wasted on here! Grin night. night.

claig · 20/06/2011 22:38

'you truly are wasted on here'

How dare you! I've only had one drink. Goodnight. Smile

Gooseberrybushes · 20/06/2011 23:15

I think it's a tragedy the Guardian going over. If it is. Anybody who really thinks this is great because now there'll be nothing to challenge the might of the right wing press has really gone off on one.

Blackduck · 21/06/2011 13:06

Tory Central office if you ask me Complimentary.....

Ormirian · 21/06/2011 13:10

Oh you still her lfn. We missed you Hmm

Ormirian · 21/06/2011 13:11
edam · 21/06/2011 22:29

Maybe it's because the Guardian poured so much money into digital which isn't showing a return. And their answer is to invest even more into digital... someone needs to come up with a way to make money out of news online. Someone has to pay for journalists to go and do journalism. Of whatever political persuasion. Or we will all lose out. (Disclaimer - I am a journalist. And I have written for titles on either end of the political spectrum.)

jackstarb · 21/06/2011 22:45

Edam - did you see my link earlier in the thread. It includes some ideas for making money from digital media (might be in the follow on comments).

One idea is fully utilising the value of the Guardian brand. Which roughly translates as getting more money from it's customers. This can be either directly (getting customers to pay for extra's) or indirectly (selling info about valuable customers to third parties).

But, both of these methods would require a cultural shift for the Guardian.
